Rainy Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jun 19, 2017 6:08 am

A wet morning to you all. Raining here in Woodland, PA. First rain Ihave had on this trip. And cool air is coming with it. :D O'Sharon and I are going to play in the rain today. Out bummng the area she says. Will save Punx for tomorrow. I need to go to Tractor Supply and Walmart, the which I found out are about 5 miles from here, off the next exit. . Lost a hairpin clip from my sway control bar yesterday, so need a new one. And the pups are getting low on dog food. I see the folks who are just overnighting, are getting ready to roll out for another day on the road.

Had a nice drive up here yesterday along the Susquehanna River and then I-80. Nice roads with no sharp curves, grades etc., so could enjoy the scenery.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who couldn't sleep Saturday night. Thanks for the company gals. Time to finish breakfast, wash hair etc., and await O'Sharon. Have a nice day all.

Morning, Sue & all who follow. The rain finished here (Buffalo) overnight & a lovely cool front has replaced it. Our last day here before moving east a bit. Hoping to see Fort Niagara today, but waiting for a part for our HWH to be installed. It has been intermittently failing since we got it so think it's just a bad one. Hate those service problems that work perfectly when you take it in & they can't reproduce the problem so they can't fix it! The tech we engaged here had a bunch of electrical tester things going & determined the board was bad. Should come today so we can leave tomorrow. Nexus will reimburse us when we get there on our way back July 5.
Hoping we may catch up with Tina, Liz & Birdie in the Adirondacks for a bit, heading there around Friday, depending on how much (wine) we find to do in Finger Lakes area.
Have a good day & be safe, all!

Gmorning Sue, Eileen, & all to follow!

Oh Sue, you will love "going on adventures" with OSharon!! I have been fortunate enough to have gone on several with her, & believe me, they are "adventures" in the most amazing sense ;) Rain or shine--or SNOW--doesn't stop her! Eileen, I'm just off I-90 in Utica/Herkimer. Liz, you've been here before. I'm not doing much away from home right now, but any of you are welcome here, if even just for lunch?

Rain just started here, pretty heavy. But somehow we've missed two "100% chances" in the past 12 hrs. Yes, this heralds a cool down! Tina & Liz, hope you survived yesterday without electric--I think it was the hottest, most humid day this year. BTW Tina, Liz also "owns" one of my pups  I met up with her at a NY cg a few years ago--stupid law for NY! No "rule" about daily use of the park, bring as many dogs as you want; but to stay in cg, only 2 :x Does save me money though. As a NY resident I get in free for the day, then at "sundown" (when parks close), I hit the closest rest area or WM

Thx BJ, can always count on you for good info! Guilty here of not doing my "fact checking" ? Ticks falling from trees, crikey, now I'll wear a hat with my flip flops & shorts--& I assume that y'all assume that I do wear a t-shirt too

Starting fence tomorrow! YAHOOOOOOO! Y'all have a great day &n be safe always 8-)

Good Morning All, I'm feeling really guilty over taking Mitzi to be groomed. She did NOT want to stay! They put her in a little run outside and she could see me as I drove away. Hopefully she will be curious about the dogs in the next pen and get distracted. I usually groom but she needs a better cut, my blades were dull last time I did her and she looks as though she was run over by a lawn mower. They said it might take 'awhile' ad they were busy, when I called they had said first ones there would be out quickest. We shall see...
It is a lovely cool morning here and it feels so good. Carolb, wish I could come for lunch, I've never been East other than to Charleston, SC and I was there very briefly as it was too hot to enjoy.
Need to get busy to take my mind off of my guilt. Hope everyone has an enjoyable day.

Being lazy this morning. Working this afternoon. Need to get a few things done before I go in.

I am thinking of boondocking at a WM or someplace in between here and Keystone. Maybe Sioux Falls or Mitchell, SD. Any ideas of a good safe place to park overnight around there?

I have two batteries on the trailer. One is hooked up and the other one isn't. Not sure why. Is that normal to only have one hooked up at a time or should they both be? Have a friend coming over this week to check it out. I really don't understand how the two batteries work together. Do I switch from one to the other (like the propane tanks) or do they do that automatically? :? (still learning as I go here! ).

Have a good day! :D

Back home and having a lazy morning. The beach in Oscoda is good this year, Mick looks much healthier, and Drew stole the cat's food! It was in one of those self-refill feeders where you fill the tube once a week and dry food falls into the dish -- so Drew kept emptying it, and the dish kept refilling. Afterword he walked around in a post-Christmas-dinner haze while the cat hissed and lashed his tail. Drew was especially happy because the vet says he needs to lose another four pounds, so he's been dieting.

Barbie, Camp Cihak is 50 miles south of Mitchell on HWY 37. Free parking space with electric. However we will be gone from June 27-July 5. If I remember correctly Wal-Mart in Mitchell doesn't allow RV overnighting. There is a Cabela's. You're certainly welcome here if we can make the dates work.

Glad some have cooler weather! It's past 90 at 11 and headed to a second 108 plus day. Bad news is dry lightning in foothills of Sierras. Hoping they catch all "smokes" while small as they are already chasing them.
Have a good day all. I'm off to Curves Then paperwork to do for Son's disability status.

Rant warning...
Should have listened to my gut. At 12:30 I called to check to see if Mitzi was ready and was told she wasn't dry maybe ready by two! I said no, she has been there long enough and I was coming to pick her up now. In the 10 minutes it took for me to get there she was dry and almost completely groomed. She was panting an obviously very stressed. They had plucked the hair out of her ears which I had reminded them again this morning Not to do. The woman who checked her in also grooms and was asking me if I wanted her nose in the regular poodle cut like last time. I pointed to Mitzi and said this is my Havanese I think you are looking at Toby's chart. When I picked her up the groomer said if you had told us a time you wanted her we could would have had her ready. I said I did repeatedly, both when I made the appointment and when I checked in this morning at 7:45. They apologized but charged me full price which I paid just to get her out of there. If she gets an ear infection thought I will give them the vet bill!! Oh, and when I got her in the car she had trouble sitting down, I felt of her and they had fastened her harness so tight she could hardly breathe. I wonder if they even like dogs or are just uncaring.

Back from a long morning with my son and his family at Grand Canyon. Heat was really bothering me, so I bailed out at 1, but it took an hour to get back to Trailer Village. Glad they keep the buses really cold!

I had middle grandchild, age 9, spend the night with me last night, plus I cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for all of us. Getting that all done and cleaned up, plus getting bed ready for child and getting her ready for bed really wore me out. I collapsed into bed with aching muscles. Anyway, I fixed her breakfast and my son picked us up. Tonight, youngest one spends the night, and she has a cast on her wrist, so will have to sponge bathe her. She is just 7 so will need serious help, especially with the cast. Tomorrow night will be the almost 11 year old boy, who is a lot easier!

I took a shower after getting back from the canyon and using the toilets. They were so FILTHY from the crowds of people, I just felt dirty. I am also going to wash my shoes, for obvious reasons. Anyway, tonight my son is taking us all to the El Tovar Hotel for an elegant dinner. He says with the kids along, we will be spoiling everyone else's elegant dinner, but actually, they are not too badly behaved. I remember when my California grandkids were like 3 and 5, we used to take them out to nice restaurants for dinner in Napa. The problem with Napa is that on weekends it is filled to the brim with couples looking for a romantic evening and nearly all the restaurants in the valley are fine dining. Used to take turns taking grumpy kids for a walk.

Pat, I will be passing thru that area on June 30th, when you are gone. :( Otherwise I would love to stop for a visit!

BJ, it sounds like you need to find a new groomer! Poor Mitzi!
