Hot Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hot Tuesday

Postby carolb » Tue Jun 13, 2017 6:30 am

Gmorning all :)

Another hot, humid day, but the last for a while, so they say. Storms still rumbling across the country may hit us in the next few days bringing cooler weather. Fence materials arriving today! Hoping bro can get here during the cool down to start drilling the post holes, but I have a feeling this will be a 3-4 wk process. We have 30 posts & 29 8ft panels to put up. Sue, you're more than welcome to come help ;)

I had dreams of getting to the NW this summer since I didn't have my usual winter trip. Beth, sounds like you'll be getting a lot of company. Alas, I won't be one of them, but one of these years I'll do a summer trip that way. I really enjoyed getting up that way on a fluke one spring, but missed so much trying to stay ahead of winter storms on my way home. I think I'm one of the few that has never been to Yellowstone  Martha, feeling you're "pain" of not getting on the road--hope Harold's rehab is going well.

HB is all clean & pretty:) Spent about 3 hrs on his exterior, a good part of that time working on his roof--black mold from our very wet spring, & he was parked under a tree. He's now sitting in my other sunny driveway so any rain/moisture can dry before it molds!

Need to get out & weed before heat & humidity rise. Y'all have a great day, safe travels--I envy those of you on the road! 8-)

Morning Carolb, nice to have you back opening Morning Coffee. Yep, hopefully this hot weather will break as predicted. Has not been fun here in GBurg by mid afternoon. Dogs and I are not happy having to stay inside the AC in here. But l don't handle heat well as I used to, so tend to lay low. Drinking plenty of water, but even get sick of that after awhile. And the girls in their coats are no better off either, so we keep activity to a minimum. Molly is having a bout with diarrhea too. Ladt night she slept all night, so hoping it is getting better. Gave her just a little white meat chicken with no skin from my dinner last night. Feeling sorry for the tent campers here.

Last day here today. Going to find a covered bridge, couple miles from here, then do some bumming in the gift shops and a little grocery shopping.

Rosemary (GypsyRose), wat h your weather, some nasty stuff on the plains. Donna, you asked me where I was staying in NW PA a couple uple days ago. I have reservations at Woodland Campground, near Woodland. Central to what I want to do up there.

Time to get cleaned up here, walk the girls and get going. Have a nice day all.

As some look for a cool down, we have enjoyed very nice weather in 70's for nearly a week, but now it's time for summer and by next Monday they say we will have temps to 108!!! Yikes!
This afternoon we see the oncologist. Praying he has a clinical trial for Mel that won't be too awful and will be effective.
Safe travels to those on the road.

Yea! I am in Grand Canyon! I arrived yesterday, but my camping spot was right next to a tree, so I moved today to my favorite spot--near the shuttles and open so I can get satellite. Temps have been in upper 60s and low 70s, but supposed to hit 90s by this weekend when my son and his family are coming. That is very unusual for 7,000 feet in elevation.

I also do not handle heat well, and tend to stay inside. We leave here next Wednesday for Zion National Park, where it is supposed to be 108. Luckily I have a shaded spot there and will only be there for two nights then headed east in Colorado for higher elevations and cooler temps. Had a nice visit a couple of days ago with Debbie (Cookiemom) but we forgot to take pictures and I was too busy to post. It was hot there also, but in lower 90s.

Today, I have 8 papers to finish and laundry to do, so no canyon viewing. I have been here several times before, so that's OK

Good morning ladies,
Have been to WalMart and Frys this morning. Used all my
free coupons for items I actually buy cause they expire while
I'm gone. I know their good at any Kroger store but it was
the last minute shopping for supplies anyway. WalMart was
a purchase for those cabinet safety latches they put on
for toddlers, worked well for the cabinets in the motorhome
to keep certain ones from flying open going down the road.
There are some others I might get later if I need them.
The rest of the day I will focus on other last minute duties,
pretending I'm pulling out tomorrow just so my brain says
"get r done" Besides, if I'm ready, I could spend a few extra
days in the white mountains.
However, still deciding on my mail situation. Daughter doesn't
want to manage it and son has no way to get here. If I do a
mail forward thing, I can't rely on son to ship me what I might need.
My good Sam road assistant card will show up after I leave but I'm
sure I'm still covered even without it. My friend Bill offered to
manage my mail, so I might take him up on that. Will need to
file a change of address for temporary.
Think I'm done buttoning up the yard, will turn off power and water
before I leave. Wonder if there is something I should put on the
toilet seal so it doesn't dry out. I've heard Vaseline but not sure its
actually good for it. Thoughts anybody?
Better get this posted before it disappears. Have a great day , be safe.

Actually have Bill flush it 3-4'times when he comes. A big prob is water in the tank being eaten by the heat! You know what I mean and then the tank dries up and that is not good. If he isn't able to come for a while, leave the stool full of water. It will take a while to be eaten by the air in the desert evaporation is a constant thing in the summer. I forgot, Mark Polk says no to vaseline as it destroys the rubber in the seal.

Good luck on your travels into the next adventure! Be safe.

Crazy day both good and not so good!

Got to see my daughter, Naomi, this morning! She has grown into a beautiful young woman! And is so very sweet! She is driving now. Her parents sent her to a special driving school in Palm Springs. Then she got to go to Belize over spring break and got certified in scuba diving. Now she is about to go to Spain for two weeks with her spanish class!
She plays volleyball and golf on school teams. She volunteers with a wildlife rehab facility and rides horses when she has time. She has the life I so wanted her to have that I knew I couldn't give her myself. Am so proud and happy!! :D :D :D

Then on the way home, I pulled over on a highway to rescue a turtle. It turned out to already be dead so I went back to my car. I had left it running and the doors locked on me. So I was locked out and my phone and purse were on the front seat! Walked a couple blocks to a Taco Bell to use their phone. Called AAA and they said they would be out in "awhile". I told them it is really hot out (95*) so to hurry. I went back to my car and waited in the hot sun for almost an hour! Some guy pulled over and asked about the turtle. He pulled it off the road, threw it in the ditch and drove away! Yeah, don't bother to ask if I am OK or need help, buddy!! I was starting to feel hot and dizzy so went back to Taco Bell to get some water and called 911. They sent out an officer who picked me up and took me back to my car. She said she had seen the AAA truck at my car on her way to get me, but they were gone when we got there. She was able to get my car unlocked but it cost me $50. Was very glad to get home after that!

It is so hot and humid today and we have no AC in the house. It is a little less hot in the basement but I have a fan on me and Lola. There is a really nasty line of storms moving into MN from South Dakota and there have already been 5 tornado warnings/touchdowns with those storms. They are moving this way so it could be a rough night here weatherwise...

I think I will be glad to get back to work tomorrow! Am so happy I got to visit with my daughter today tho! It went really well! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I had a friend whose father had a trailer out in Palm Desert. We'd go out there to use their pool and she'd stop by his place when he was gone and leave several LARGE pails of water throughout the trailer. She said that anything one can do to help keep even a little humidity in the coach was better than nothing. So see what you can put together to leave a bunch of water inside. We actually do that in our motorhome out here if we're not going to use it for a few weeks. Don't know if it really helps, but it makes me feel better. ;)

Happy trails!

I understand that what Laura suggested is what a lot of people do in Q when leaving for the summer and don't leave any cans
they can explode what a mess that would be
