What Liz said
In fact, get a few, their cheap, you can illuminate the area
around your entrance. You might already have a porch light
and just don't know it. My steps are lit but I didn't know it
until dark and could actually see it :-)

I want to put a motion sensor light by the door. Is there something I could use to stick it on the side? I tried the Command velcro strip but it came right off.

I watched some Youtube videos last night on various ways to clean the black tank. Most of them didn't do a very good job, even the ice cube method. This one was interesting...

When dumping the tanks in both the Micro Lite and the Coachman we use the same procedure. First tank to empty is the black tank. Then Several buckets of water are poured into the tank from the toilet and then drained again. The second tank we empty is the kitchen grey water tank, then the bathroom grey water tank. Have had no problems with sledge build up with this method.

I put in a motion sensor light in place of the light that was already there. I just removed the original, wired the new one and screwed it on in the same holes. I also used sealer around the wiring, screws and the plastic rim of the light fixture. It seems like you should already have some sort of light near the door that you could replace with a motion sensor light.

I found a link years ago called Poop Sheets by Phred about cleaning black tanks without chemicals. I was able to go to the page a couple of days ago but today I get an error code. It is also called the GEO method they used to suggest using bleach but have since said that is not needed nor is it good for lines. Basically you use Calgon water softener and Dawn or any other type dish washing or laundry soap. I used just a box of baking soda in down my tank after dumping and ever had any odors.

Here is one article

Clean With The GEO Method
The GEO method ingredients

The GEO method is a home-made cleaning technique that’s been around in the RV community since (at least) the early 80’s. Where the name came from no-body seems to know, but the original method is HERE. The original formula uses chlorine, but that can ruin your valves so these days most RVers use a slightly modified method with just 2 common items, both of which you can get at any big department store:

Calgon Water Softener -> This stuff helps to break down water surface tension, clean scum and prevent hard mineral deposits. I’ve used Borax on occasion when I can’t find Calgon and find it works just as well.
Dawn Dishwasher Detergent -> The “original formula” blue detergent is excellent at cutting grime. Laundry detergent works too.

After you dump pour 1 cup of Calgon and 1 cup detergent into the tanks. Leave them in until your next dump. Before driving some RVers will also throw a bag of ice-cubes down the tank to “scour” their walls (we’ve never done this, but others swear by it).

And that’s really it! We don’t use the GEO method each time we dump, but just whenever our sensors need an extra cleaning. Either way it’s a simple, easy and environmentally-friendly method to keep sensors mostly clean. And in a moving house on wheels that’s really as good as it gets.

I got something like this: http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/it ... 1000/65149

I was even able to install it myself, but I have to confess I never was able to get the motion part working. This one is wired and fits the space as your old porch light.

I think the light I got was the Ever Brite one.

I found this stuff at Walmart for the black tank. It is all natural organic probiotics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfTd0Slt_cU

Judy, I have one of those motion sensor lights and mine won't work either. It works as a light but I have had 2 different guys try to fix it and the motion sensor still doesn't work.

Is this the one? https://www.walmart.com/ip/TankTechsRx- ... /788943808

The link you gave was to the video for cleaning the black tanks video I watched earlier. I won't be buying one of those. It did make me wonder, why they don't just put the drain hole at the bottom of the black tank!? I met a friend for coffee and she asked what I had been doing, so I told her I had been watching a riveting video about cleaning black tanks.

One of the keys to keeping the blak tank clean is using good deodorizer and waster degrader chemicals, preferrably some not harmful to the environment. Plus also making sure you use enough water in the toilet to help stuff breakdown. I many times will throw a dishpan of dishwater down my toilet into the black tank as the gray tank always fills faster than
the black tanks and it has soapy water too. Plus I give it a good flushing out when I dump. A good source to read on RV isues is RV Net.

I just try to use a lot of water and like Sue I will add some soapy dish pans. Sometimes I remember to put
Some baking soda in the tank. I don't depend or expect the tank monitors to work and just listen to sound and use memory of how long it has been and what I've used since the last dump. I seldom use any chemicals. Don't over think this. Wait and see what your rig actually needs for your usage. I try to keep it as simple as possible. The suggestion for water and more water is The best. (And I use nice TP and throw it in the small trash basket.)

I have a toilet wand, came with the mh; used it twice here at home wasn't impressed. I did get one of those coiled hoses to use with it and I keep that in the mh just in case. I keep one sewer hose in the bumper and one in a sewer hose carrier I bought and attached to the top of the bumper. Rarely use both but I rarely get fhus. Dumping tanks is easy once you do it; one thing I added was clear extensions to the dump valves, especially on the black tank they are really helpful for seeing if the water is coming out clear or not. Mine are both 45 deg. angles. I keep gallon jugs of water in my mh for my dogs to drink and I'll use that to fill and flush my toilet when dumping tanks. I have 2 white water hoses and only use them together when filling my fresh tank at home (again, no fhus). One is 25 ft and the other is 10 ft. One other thing that is very handy (just used it recently) a good sized funnel. I have one with a long plastic tube attached that can slip down into my fresh water inlet. Last trip out DH wanted a shower and the fresh tank was getting low. We used the funnel and the gallon jugs to refill tank and he got his shower. I also use the funnel to winterize. Pretty sure I bought it at Walmart in the automotive department. Also remember nitrile gloves and baby wipes for when you are dumping! When I dump alone, I use several pairs of gloves.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Ha
I just wash my hands.
And I'm not a believer in chemicals for much of anything. Tina pretty much summed up my thinking.
