Thankful Thursday, May 18

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thankful Thursday, May 18

Looks like I beat the sun up this morning. Well with 40% - 50% chance of rain this morning, perhaps the sun will be hiding. I turned on the TV to try for weather, but it said no signal for any channel! The weather radio band on the rig was ragged too. So looks like internet weather today. My SIL and I are planning to boat our way down the Guadalupe River this morning. She has a kayak and I have the kayooe. It should be a nice couple of hours. Even if it rains it can be fun. This is the shoulder season for the rage of toobing down the Lupe! After Memorial Day weekend the river will be full of everything floatable and all the CGs will be near capacity. Unless you are under 40 you won't want to be around. But interest in sunburn salve could get you a few dollars!

I am thinking pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Have a safe and fun day.

Morning Birdie and everyone. Wish we could get some rain here. It has either been going around or evaporating out of the air. The only thing that's not evaporating is the annual mosquito hatch, which is in full force right now. Fortunately it has been windy, so the little buggers are grounded.

House cleaning this morning, but first the pups are off to the doggie spa. Then will probably putter outside unless we get the predicted rain showers. Still waiting to find out what's causing blown fuses on my trailer. Hopefully an easy fix and a part doesn't have to be ordered. Hope you all have a nice day. Sure been quiet on here lately. Everybody still alive and breathing out there?

Good morning gals!
Yesterday I went out and got the insurance and title transfer done on the camper. Then got my hair all chopped off. I like it except my bangs got cut short after I told her not to cut my bangs at all. Will take a month or so to get them back to where I like them. :( .

On the way home I drove into a severe thunderstorm! High winds, torrential rains and hail! Had to pull off (everyone else was pulling over too) since I couldn't see anything. Luckily the hail was small but still sounded like rocks hitting my car. I had seen a wall cloud so was really worried about a tornado but that didn't happen. When I finally got home, I was surprised that there hadn't been any watches or warnings put out for our area at all. We must have gotten over 2 inches of rain in about an hour. Feel bad for the farmers around here. They just got done planting last weekend and the fields were just rivers and lakes after the storm.

Gonna clear up today but only be around 50*.

Good thing I bought more bird seed yesterday. The storm must have blown out what was left in the feeder yesterday. Birds are not happy this morning. Better get out there and fill it back up.

Have lots of stuff coming today for the camper that I ordered; WD hitch, electric brake controller, extra support jacks, etc. This initial set up is costing a lot of money! :o But it is all (hopefully) a one-time expense. Just got a few more necessities to get and will be done for awhile.

Hope you all have a good day! :D

The best part of today is that the wind has mostly calmed down. Yesterday it was consistently 26-30 MPH so I was really glad I was sitting instead of driving. Still rocked everything. We had some rain, but the wind was the worst. High today is only supposed to be 80, with lower the rest of the week.

I have had 8 prescriptions refilled and am heading out in a little while to pick them up and get a few groceries. Will dump my tanks on the way out. They have a nice flush hose with a screw end on it, so it is really easy to flush without getting my hoses out. I still have an odor problem unless I keep my tank really flushed out. This is really a nice COE park for just sitting and getting some chores done like reorganizing and such. I am going to work on the two outside bins where the guys who fixed my slides pulled everything out and then put it back in a mess. Went through stuff under bed yesterday. Got to do this once in a while just to find things and keep things organized.

Sue, glad I missed the mosquito hatch! Got caught in it in the UP a couple of years ago in late June while my California son and grandkids were here and it was awful. They just swarmed us all and somehow they managed to even get inside. My son used my electronic killer one morning and then had to vacuum up hundreds of bodies from the floor!

I should have said an electronic bug zapper. They contain batteries and sizzle a bug with a shock when it comes in contact with the screen. (Great feeling to sizzle bugs sometimes!) http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bite-Shield- ... /100616483

However, some warnings:
- Don't touch the screen while holding down the "On" switch or it will sizzle you!
- Don't touch the screen to another human being or animal or they also will get a sizzling shock and probably a burn.
- Don't swat at a bug the way you would with a fly swatter. You move it slowly through the air or gently move it against a window or another surface where a bug is sitting, while you hold down the "on" button. If you whack it around, you will break things, including the zapper.

There were so many mosquitoes that morning that had come i  n through the slide cracks that all my son had to do was slowly move it through the air while the kids sat safely on the couch. The sizzled mosquitoes covered the floor to the point where he had to get the vacuum cleaner out. The place also smelled of dead bugs.

Have fun! You can get these at any garden center and at places like Walmart. It is very fulfilling to finally get that fly that has been avoiding your efforts to kill it.

Thanks Judy. I bought one of those years ago but never used it and then gave it away.

My plans for cleaning up the little Jeep and getting it ready to sell are on hold. After all that rain last night, it is now sitting in the middle of a large soggy puddle! I had moved it out of the driveway last week and parked it around back behind the house. So now to wait for things to dry up before trying to move it since it is too soft and mucky right now. Supposed to rain off and on for the next several days so that won't help much. :(
