Good Morning Donna and all. Happy Mothers Day. Congratulations on the house sale Donna. Yes, I know it's a frightening thought not having a place to land, now that you sold the house. But as they thers have said, you have the RT, so you have a "home" on wheels. You've been wanting to get out and do some traveling and you need to take your dad to PA, so the road is clear for you. You can go where you want and not have the worry of a S&B sitting there, the yard work waiting when you get back, the property taxes and other bulls etc.

Nothing new here. With my trailer in the shop for slide repair, not doing anything on that. Hope it's a quick fix. Few things I want to do before I leave for PA. One thing is, it's close to home, so if they have to wait for a part, sometimes I can bring it back here and work on it, then run it back iver when the part comes.

Off to mass in a bit here. They are having a Mothers Day breakfast afterwards. Then will probably finishing cleaning my garage and might wash the windows on the house. Mosquito hatch is occuring and if no wind, they are really pesky. Have a wonderful day all.

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! I’ve been scanning all the posts and it appears that most everyone has good news!

Besides being Mother’s Day it’s also graduation here. You can certainly tell that the person who sets the date is a male! Cathy’s son graduates today so the Steel Magnolias have been helping her. Yesterday Faye and I made all the potato salad and Nina and Dunja made a couple other salads and then last night we went to the hall to help her decorate. Today we get to skip the ceremony (YES) and we’ll go to the hall and have everything ready for the guests at the reception. Between all of us girls we have plenty of experience with graduations, showers and weddings. Last night we figured out that we have at least one more high school graduation and six showers and weddings to go!

Branding day is Wednesday. Have to feed about 20 men. DH is in charge of smoking briskets and my sister and I and Ashley’s grandmother are going to make the rest. Oh joy…more potatoes and eggs to peel. We’re giving Ashley the day off. Little Miss Hadley has decided to get her days and nights mixed up. Plus she has a touch of jaundice. So mom is a little worn out. Bronc has been going to daycare most of this week so she has a chance to sleep when Hadley is sleeping. Also so he doesn’t forget the “rules” at daycare! I’m not sure how Hadley sleeps through the noise that boy can generate during the day. Maybe they should tape it and play it in her room during the night!

I still have to dewinterize the 5er. That will have to wait until after Wednesday. But we have reservations for five days over Memorial Day.

Have a wonderful day!

I worked today til 4. Was another gorgeous day! 85* and sunny! Tomorrow the rain moves in with storms off and on all week.

I have tomorrow off, work on Tuesday, and have Weds and Thurs off. Have tons to do tho! Need to get the camper title transferred and insurance put on it. Desperately need to do laundry and work on my bedroom some more to organize it better. Still working on the camper with organizing and little fixes and upgrades. A few more things to get for it yet but need to get more info on what I need (length of hoses; sewer, water and electric). I found more storage space behind the couch. Every little bit helps! Altho, I think that might be a good hiding place for Lola. I am also going to change out the knobs on all the cabinets. Now they are a shiny cheap-looking gold, so will replace them with wood-looking knobs. I bought one knob yesterday just to see what it would look like and it looks much better, so will get the rest of the knobs later this week. I also think I should get two more stabilizer jacks. There are only two that came with the camper and those are under the front but the backend "wiggles" a little when I am moving around inside back there, so I think I will pick up a couple more for there.

The outside door of the camper won't stay open even when I use the little clip that is supposed to hold it open. Not sure what else I can do for that. I used a bungee cord tonight but that doesn't work too good in the wind. Also the bottom step is pretty high up so I need to find a small step (about 6-8 inches high to put on the ground in front of it. If any of you have some ideas for fixes for these things, let me know.

Hope you all had a great day! :D

Barbie, I've been using an exercise step platform for years and years. I got an adjustable one at Wal-Mart... Cheapest I could and it's been great. I needed it at it's full height with my last rig. This one I don't need it as high so the adjustable pieces are in my trunk. I like it way better than the ones sold specifically for rv's.

Don't buy too many things you "think"you need... Or you'll be spending lots of money on things you'll never use.

ACK!! Too true!

When I was first outfitting my van - which is a very small space - I bought everything under the sun for it. I even had two beds!

After each trip, I ended up taking stuff out again, and almost never adding in more "stuff". I had "stuff" that was just taking up space, that was never used. I had storage bins that had nothing in them!! Took those out as well, as they were just taking up space.

LOTS of $"camping stuff"$ sitting out in the garage that I will never use!

Had I listened to Beth and all of the other ladies here, I could have saved myself some major $$!! :-( Just remember, where ever you go, and whatever you do, there is likely a Walmart or a Camping World just down the road, so if one decides they need something, it can be purchased "on the road".

The ONE thing I was really resistant to buying for my van was a Thetford porta-potty, that several ladies suggested (I am just a DIY converted cargo van) as a "must have". After purchase, I didn't put it in the van for months! But now, I "don't leave home without it". It has really come in handy in the middle of the night (just sayin' - although I know that Ava, with her MH, won't need one of these).

Thanks Beth! Great idea! Will check that out! The adjustable ones sold for RV's are really expensive! I am trying to be practical with buying stuff and not getting anything unless I already know I need it. Am using a lot of things I already have on hand too.

When parked, I mostly enter and exit my van through the rear doors. The van is pretty high up off the ground, so it is a "big step up" (and a bit difficult) to get in these rear doors.

I recently purchased this folding, light-weight (probably weighs less than 1/2 pound) plastic "step" from Home Depot for a fast $7.88. The price was right, it folds completely flat, and does the job I need without taking up much space:

It might not work for you, but it might be worth a "look". :-)

Anne, I have one of those in my rv to reach my upper cabinets and lights.

Thanks Anne! I looked at those but it was a little higher than I need. Just need about 6 inches high. I went with Beth's idea about the aerobic step which is just the right size I need and adjustable if needed. Yours is nice and compact tho which is nice!
