Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, May 12

Looks like an other nice day here in Northern MI, but we really need some rain. With the sandy soils up here, it dries out fast.

Tina, I laugh at your mode of operation too  Wish I were free to take off like you do. But as a single homeowner with no family, it takes a bit of planning. There's the mail, the grass, the snow removal etc., depending on time of year. So far my trips have been more to destination points than just wandering, so pretty much require advance reservations. I'm not equipped to boondock and am not comfortable overnighting in say a WalMart parking lot etc. Guess I'm like Judy JB and like to know I have a landing spot ahead. But I don't book every night I'm gone. This upcoming trip I am gong to tAke my chances with the plaza spots on the OH turnpike. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it :D

Judy, the fuse issue seems to be deeper than a blown fuse on my trailer. Blew it again yesterday. So dropped it off a dealer, to see if they can find the problem.

Guess it's time to take shower and get my hair washed. Neighbor who had the double kung transplant, passed away on Monday, so funeral is today. Then some business to take care of in town As well. Have a nice day everyone.

Sue, think of your neighbors that leave every year and you watch their places. There are services for whatever you can imagine you want to do. But then I also understand that your home is in a beautiful part of the country and you don't really need to go far to enjoy the wonder of nature. :)

Good morning ladies
just about ready to hang the coffee pot, broke my little
drill bit to make screw holes, will have to dig out another
one. This was more of a project than I imagined, but it
will give me two, yes TWO extra shelves when its done.
Been looking for my staple gun for over two weeks, finally
stumbled across yesterday while I was looking for something
else. Seems that's always the way things happen. Then I couldn't
remember why I needed it so badly until this morning,, My
shade cloth on the deck came loose in a wind storm a few
weeks ago. Need to repair before I leave town. Things are
starting to fall in place.
Got my haircut yesterday but never made it to the bank, so
that's a must do for today. Then of course there is routine
housework to do and cook a few meals for the freezer.
Kielbasa and fried potatoes is the meal plan for today.
Off to look for a drill bit. Y'all have a great day, be safe.

Friday is a bad day of the week to look for a campground without a reservation--especially on a beautiful weekend like this one is supposed to be. Plus, several Corps of Engineering campgrounds and a couple of state parks here in southern Illinois are flooded out from all the rains and the Mississippi flooding!

So, after calling around in the St. Louis area and not finding anything dry or not packed with weekenders, I stopped at a small commercial campground not too far off the freeway, but not as far as I wanted to go today. I will end up having to drive 220 miles tomorrow, then I have a reservation at a historic Missouri state park for two days. Can use my bike to explore the small town. Then on to Bloomington East COE campground near Lawrence, KS for five days of rest and maybe some exploring.

I've been on the road for almost three days, so will be glad to stop for a while tomorrow. I did not think about the weekend being so busy at campgrounds on this weekend, so I did not make my usual reservation, but it makes sense because they have had so much rain and this is the first nice weekend in a month. I was at a state park last night near Indianapolis, and it was completely empty! Got reservations the rest of the way, Sue! :)

It's also Mothers Day weekend Judy and that's a big camping weekend. Our parks around here are busy too . Moral mushroom season is on too.
