Need some help for any of you who have dealt with cancer patient’s diets. A lady that we’re friends with just had bladder cancer. She had surgery last week and they removed the bladder, uterus, ovaries, part of the vaginal wall and took some lymph nodes. A section of her small intestine was taken to use as a passage from the kidneys to the stoma. She’s coming home today. Some of us are going to make meals, drive her to chemo so her husband doesn’t end up missing so much work, and just help with daily household chores. She has told us that she has to have easily digestible food. I’ve been searching the net for recipes. So far I know that she can have white rice, any cooked vegetable that are cooked, chicken breast, eggs and low fat. Problem is that it’s going to get to be pretty boring. Any ideas to make interesting meals that will entice her to eat? We know once she starts the chemo that the smell of food cooking often will turn her off. Her mom is coming to stay for the first week or so and that gives us some time to find some recipes.
