May # 2...

Good morning all... day number 2 of staging the estate sale... they will finish that and the pricing ladies will come this afternoon... somehow they found a few things that I overlooked hard to believe but they did...Pheebe is not happy with people in her house she can't keep her mouth shut I think she would have a sore throat... with the mess they have in the kitchen with kitchen utensils and everything all over the kitchen cupboards in that stove and everything I can't cook so we went to Wickham Park to have a picnic supper from Burger King and to let The Bouncing red headed Chihuahua run around she had been cooped up all day... Brevard County Vietnam vets and other vets are having a two week rally over they take over the campground 1/4 of the park... they have the traveling Vietnam Wall there and a bunch of other activities.... I checked the wall a couple of years ago it was very emotional my first cousin Paul Foulk... was killed in Vietnam head age 21 in 1969... So sad... Well all for now..B safe..donna

I,too, forgot the rabbits. Was at the hospital with DH for his 'scope checkup. All is well, good for another 5 years. His reaction, "With any luck I'll be dead by the time I need to do this again!" Hmmm...this is the guy who said he was done with drinking the prep because he already made one trip to the bathroom. Yes, a stubborn man is a challenge: hoping Harold will make it easy on you during his rehab, Martha.
I'm off to a sewing weekend at Nancy's Notions in Beaver Dam this weekend, kind of a tradition with friends. Gotta guard the checkbook a little as there's also a warehouse sale.
We leave June 1 for a RV trip starting with a family birthday in Indiana, then a NeXus (RV brand) rally, then off to upstate New York, the slow way. Back to Indiana for family gathering for the 4th of July before heading home. Any recommendations for adventures & campgrounds in the Adirondacks? The rest of NY is pretty well planned.
Nice to hear from all of you, hope you're all safe & planning your next adventure. Happy Trails...

Good Morning! I did remember to say Rabbits yesterday. We’re on pins and needles waiting a call that Ashley is going to the hospital….baby is due anytime. The dr. told her that if she hadn’t gone into labor by Friday he would induce, but she’s on sure that she wants to do that. Yesterday we woke up to about 5” of snow and no electricity and announcement on FB that school was two hours late start! Luckily the power was only out for about an hour and it warmed up to 60 and the snow was gone by sunset.

Need some help for any of you who have dealt with cancer patient’s diets. A lady that we’re friends with just had bladder cancer. She had surgery last week and they removed the bladder, uterus, ovaries, part of the vaginal wall and took some lymph nodes. A section of her small intestine was taken to use as a passage from the kidneys to the stoma. She’s coming home today. Some of us are going to make meals, drive her to chemo so her husband doesn’t end up missing so much work, and just help with daily household chores. She has told us that she has to have easily digestible food. I’ve been searching the net for recipes. So far I know that she can have white rice, any cooked vegetable that are cooked, chicken breast, eggs and low fat. Problem is that it’s going to get to be pretty boring. Any ideas to make interesting meals that will entice her to eat? We know once she starts the chemo that the smell of food cooking often will turn her off. Her mom is coming to stay for the first week or so and that gives us some time to find some recipes.

Martha, sorry to hear about Harold. How are things going with him now? I hope everyone else is doing great. I read every day bit seldom have anything to add. I’ll let you know when the baby arrives! I’m still holding on hope that the ultrasound that said it’s a girl is correct….not a boy with a shy penis!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good Morning, Martha, was so sorry to hear of Harold's having a stroke. Keep us informed of his progress. What a shock for you to hear while you were off camping, and, then driving home in those horrible winds.

I missed the Rabbits Roll Call, it's too hard to post from my phone. Harold is still in the hospital. He gets a new doctor everyday. Yesterday they were talking about sending him to rehab. Then one of the doctors decided to do an MRI on his shoulder. He hit his shoulder on his last fall and that is what's giving him the most trouble. He can't pull up with his right arm. They did the MRI this morning but I haven't heard the results. Now they are talking about sending him home tomorrow. He can't do the exercises they want to do in rehab. I guess we will know what is going to happen when it happens. The heart doctor he use to see is on vacation, of course. The heart doctor at the hospital doesn't want to do anything because he's not Harold's doctor. I'm pretty sure the doctor he use to see thinks he's not his doctor either. Hospitals are so much fun.

CC says he's not getting enough loving. If I sit down he is in my face wanting to be petted. Then the other cats have to take a turn.

Martha, sorry you are caught in the medical rat race! Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.

All is well with me. In Texas until Monday and then off to Kansas for doctor, dentist and most importantly granddaughter's graduation. She has now had reactions to her last two drug infusions so those are done. Daughter says there is one more medicine they can try via a shot. Not sure what happens after that, but doubt it is good.

Safe travels to all on the road.

Pat, I'm guessing your friend could eat several soups. And how about smoothies. They can be made to be quite healthy and tasty. On to your soon to be arriving new grandbaby... Hope it's soon.

Martha, you and Harold are in my thoughts... So sorry the doctors make it more difficult.

I'm exhausted and going to bed early!

Pat, Here's a link to nutrition info during cancer treatment on Moffitt Cancer Center website. https://moffitt.org/patient-family/healing-wellness/nutrition/nutrition-during-cancer-treatment/ The cancer center where your friend is receiving treatment probably also has a registered dietician that can be a great source of help specific to your friend's dietary needs, and they likely have handouts with recipe ideas.
