Sunny Sunday - Warming Up

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday - Warming Up

Postby JudyJB » Sun Apr 30, 2017 8:09 am

Weather has been crazy. Yesterday's high was 55 and is is supposed to get up to 84 today! Then more rain and cooling off again.

My granddaughter spent the night last night. She just turned 9 and, boy, can that child talk non-stop! :o She is the world's best helper also. My grandkids love the Class C front bunk because they can close the curtains for "privacy" which is a big thing for them. It's like an indoor treehouse.

So, where is everyone?

And we are seeing a warm up also. Maybe winter claimed it's last hurrah here and we can get back to spring. The store opens tomorrow so I'll take a run into Rapid City today to purchase fresh fruit and our popular donkey food. I love that we have the opportunity to sell food that's good for the donkeys and educate people on not feeding them crap.

Otherwise, no major plans today... Relaxing as much as possible.

I'm here. Mass this morning and then looking at my trip route. Considering taking the OH and PA turnpikes to Getysburg. Still thinkng. Would cut 200 miles off my driving, but need to figure out if I save anything due to turnpike fees. Would get the EZ Pass transponder if I do.

Glad you gals are warming up. Send it up here please. We aare at 38 with light cold rain. Good day to be inside trip planning

Am thinking of having Camping World install new tires on my trailer as they guarantee them and will replace if something happens. I inow a lot of you don't trust them for maintenance work, and I use local dealer for mine. But local dealer doesn't sell tires, has to order them. One tire place in town is supposed to, but don't know if they keep my size tires in stock or how often they do trailers.

Time for lunch. Have a nce day. Stay safe down south in the storm areas.

Sue, what DO you feed donkeys? Some sort of horse feed?

I learned a few years ago that you feed geese and ducks dog kibble--never bread. Our condo had about 25 molting geese land in our walled pond, lost their feathers, and could not fly to get out. Most starved, but we did ask the Michigan Dept of Natual Resources what we should have fed them, and the answer was dry dog food. (Let me tell you that there is nothing like the smell of rotting geese.) Had to get a private animal control company to use nets to remove them.

I have never fed a donkey but I think horse feed would be ok. When I got my first horse I fed him oats or sweet feed. Now days horse feed is like the specialized dog food and it can cost a lot.

I was in Rockport, TX camping and found out Harold had a stroke. It was something that probably happened a couple of weeks ago according to the doctor. My son had taken him to the doctor and the doctor told him to take him to the emergency room. They kept him in the emergency room over night supposedly because they didn't have a room. He was finally admitted on Saturday. I had to drive home in that terrible wind. I couldn't go over 55 and sometimes not even that fast. I stayed last night and my son is staying tonight. He still needs to see one more doctor to see if they want to do something or just send him home. He has weakness on his left side but can still move his hand and leg. He can't see to the left side. Most of the time he makes sense but sometimes is confused. I guess I'll find out tomorrow what they want to do. I'm sure he will need physical therapy.

We sell carrots, apples, and best yet, a cattle feed for the donkeys. The cattle feed is particularly for grazing animals. The donkeys love it and it's good for them. And they should never be fed bread either... It's just filler with no nutrients. I learned several years ago that I was doing sea gulls disservice feeding them bread, too.

Martha, I'm so sorry to hear about Harold. I'm hoping and praying for a full recovery.

Martha, I'm so sorry to hear about Harold's stroke. I will be thinking of you both and am hoping you get encouraging news from the doctor.
My Dad had a stroke many years ago. He also lost vision but he did regain all but his peripheral vision over time.
