Another Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Apr 10, 2017 5:45 am

Morning all. Another Monday, another week begins and this one with Easter at it's end.

Had a beautiful weekend with temps in 60's and 70's. Got a lot accomplished in the yard, so now it's up to nature to do the rest. In the meantime, I'll be off to other things. Neighbors wilbe home from FL today. Yesterday I turned up the heat in the house and some friends from their church showed up to clean the house and yard. Neighbors could use a bit of help as she's a lung transplant patient who has gone into rejection, so her time is getting shorter and he's busy taking care of her.

Nothing on my agenda here today. Rain and storms comng in later. Will work on finalizing PA trip route. Made a couple reservation changes yesterday, adding an extra day on to Country Acres Campground stay. Will post trip info in GTG thread if anybody's interested in joing me out there.

Barbie, such great news on the house sale. Hope the room you want to look at works out. Time for you to meet with a financial advisor and get some advice and investments. Just be sure it's with a reputablefirm andt no some fly by night business or brokersge houses. They are only out to make money for themselves. Edward Jones has done right by me for over 20 years, but there are others.

Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning! Not just another Monday for me, as this one starts the countdown. Just 4 more days until I take possession of the mobile home I bought in Dowling Park, FL. Until then I am doing a little bit of work on the outside. I have pruned the azaleas in the front and am clearing grass and weeds away from the outside perimeter to about 3 feet away from the walls. Covering that area with weedblock and then pine straw for now. That's to keep the park's weedwhackers from whacking holes in my siding while I'm gone. Next fall I will plant a few native, drought-resistant plants in that area. That will keep my yard work to a minimum, as lawn mowing and trimming is done by the village as part of my membership.

When I get inside on Friday I will sort through what was left in the way of furnishings and household stuff. Anything I'm sure I won't use will be donated to the "Twice Nice Furniture & More Store" here. Then I will transfer a lot of "stuff" from my RV that I don't really need to carry with me to be stored inside the MH. I expect to have it all done and be ready to roll by the 20th. Not planning to make any other additions or changes until I return in the fall.

Meanwhile I'm enjoying reading about everybody else's adventures as the camping and traveling season is gearing up. Have a blessed day, wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Good morning! Had a beautiful weekend! It warmed up Saturday and I got outside and did some more in the yard. Yesterday was even better so I really got some more things done outside. Got a couple of windows washed and cleaned up more of the yard and porch! The only thing I didn't get done was mowing the lawn, that's today! If I don't do it today it's not going get done to later since we are supposed to have some rain move in tomorrow. The town is having a metal trash pick up next week so I'm already gathering some random things from outside to get rid of. It'll save a trip to the dump in State College at some point! More purging!

Anita, what a fun time! Weather is getting better for the SS! Barbie, wonderful news on the house! Hope the room situation worked out. And great news on your brother. Liz, sure looks like you found a wonderful spot to be when you aren't on the road.

Time to go get dressed and get my day going! Cool and dampish outside so need to do a few things inside before I can get out in the yard! Have a good day!

Good morning to all. It was fairly nice here in Vegas over the weekend. Temperatures were perfect, sky was blue but the wind was howling again. Saturday it was gusting up to 50mph. And Saturday was the day the roofers started to replace our roof. No way would anyone get me up on a roof with that wind. Mostly the wind was coming from the south so they started working on the north side. Yesterday they almost finished it. They were THREE shingles short so will have to return today to finish. Then the fun begins trying to get them paid. The mortgage company has the insurance check. Gave it to them last Tuesday - as of Friday they hadn't put it in the escrow account. And the park manager went home to Arizona. To get paid we have to have the park manager inspect the roof and then the regional manager has to approve it. Should be an interesting week. But at least we've got a roof that will outlast us. Baring any 120 mph winds. I'm working on my stained glass window. Have it about half done. Also been trying to get in a walk every day. Especially after seeing a picture of myself - when did I get so fat? Today is laundry and grocery store. Bill is waiting for a day without wind so he can go fly his RC planes.
Our RV is still at dealers. We ordered a new mattress for it - the one it came with is horrid. So will ask dealer to take out old one and dump it for us. Take care if you are traveling.
Hope things continue to move smoothly for you Barbie.

Good morning! Well "rabbits" is working for me this month so far!

Cloudy, windy and colder today with possible snow flurries!

I did look at the room in the lower level of that house and it isn't the ritz but it will do for the summer. It is surrounded by horse farms and crop farms so will be very quiet and peaceful. There is a large pond out back and a hot tub. It's about 20 minutes from work. Only $400/mo for everything so that is good. The lady is very nice and she has 3 teenage daughters who live there. They have a small dog but he stays upstairs. Will move in the weekend before closing.

Also I am going on Thursday to look at the Keystone travel trailer I saw on CL! Yay! If you have any suggestions on what things I should look for and what questions to ask, please let me know! I have a friend coming over here tomorrow who has a 5th wheel and she and her husband are retired, so I might see if one or both of them would want to come with me to look at it. I am excited!! The ad is here... https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ ... 93176.html. It is owned by an older couple who just don't want to travel anymore.

Carol, your stained glass projects are beautiful! Good luck with the roof. I had to laugh that they were 3 shingles short! Reminds me of how you describe someone who isn't too bright..."he is 3 shingles short of a roof!".

Have a good day! Hopefully the weather down south is calming down some now!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, The first thing that I would ask them to do is have the refrigerator running on electric before you get there, so you can make sure that it is working. They are expensive to fix or replace. The a/c is easy to determine if it works because it starts to cool right away. Check for any water damage on the ceiling. Make sure that it has been winterized. If it has been it probably still is because it's too early to clean out the antifreeze in Minnesota so it would be difficult to check on the water pressure and the pump. Take a good look at the tires and check the date on them. They can look good but have dry rot. The tread on ours looked fine last year but I had them replaced. DH and our friend thought I was crazy so Al bought them from the station against the owners advice. Well he hadn't driven 60 miles and one blew....leaving Al and Linda on the Interstate late Friday afternoon of Labor Day weekend having one hell of a fight. Linda was telling (yelling) him "Pat told you that they looked good but had dry rot!" It was enjoyable for me to have both DH and Al have to eat crow! Look underneath the camper to make sure that it isn't damaged from scraping on dips etc. Check the caulking around the windows and press on the walls around them to see if they feel mushy which is a sign that there has been leaking around the windows. Ask them to pull the awning out. I'm sure that I'm forgetting something really important but others will chime in.

On edit: It's been on CL for a month. Offer them $1000 less and then see if they will meet you somewhere in the middle. I love to deal on a campers or cars and usually win! I am the official negotiator in our family. Have you checked the Blue Book on it?

And if you like it, Barbie, negotiate and lock it in asap. People up there weren't looking before, but spring is here and that'll start changing.

Past morning. Thought I'd be buying new tires for the toad today, but the nice folks at the tire place here think I'm good for awhile yet. However, the flat tire was one that had been patched previously and, therefore, won't be very reliable. I have a full sized spare, so the damaged one is now the spare. The old spare has probably about the same wear as the other tires, just 5 years after in the trunk. They didn't see anything alarming regarding it. So, tires will wait.

It was a good morning for tasks, as the winds that were supposed to diminish overnight woke me several times and are just diminishing now. I only have a couple hour drive, so could do that now... But decided I'll go tomorrow. Play tomorrow and Wed, then arrive in Keystone Thursday. Right now the weather is saying this is a good plan.

Liz, I know you're looking forward to getting in and also to getting on the road. Your head will probably be filled with ideas all summer for when you return and really make the place your own. Exciting times.

Carol, I'm still laughing at the 3 tiles short. And don't you just love how you have to jump through hoops to get things done?

We have gotten about 2 inches of heavy wet snow today and the roads were really bad all the way home from work tonight. Very slushy! Actually drove in 4WD all the way home. I parked off the driveway because the tree out front is covered in the wet snow on top of an ice coating and I don't want to take a chance on any limbs falling on my car. I moved one small limb off the road out in front. I can hear chunks of wet snow falling off that tree onto the roof of the house in big thuds! Sounds like people walking all over the roof!
Will be in the 50's tomorrow and 60's the rest of the week and 70 next weekend.
