Quiet Saturday in Ohio

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Quiet Saturday in Ohio

Postby BirdbyBird » Sat Mar 25, 2017 7:32 am

At least in Ohio it is quiet and feels more like spring finally. I actually turned the heater off in the bus. Now I will just need to pay attention to the weather reports regarding any severe dips in evening temperatures.

No work and no dog shows scheduled this weekend. I have a list of possible things that I could maybe do... but then again I might not. I can admire all that Sue and many of you get done. There is a part of me that can work through assignments from morning to night knocking items off the "list". I spent big chunks of my life working and working some more. I had to and or thought I had to....

But in retirement I have tried to allow myself to be healed and I more often get to return to my true nature. The right brained, philosophical, observer and ponderer of interesting things, never really died. I always thought/think of it as the child that never complains about being bored but can hike off with his/her dog, or sit, or wander or read and never run out of things to wonder about. Give me a beautiful scene and a comfortable patch of grass or rock and I can sit and be a peace.

So yes, occasionally I will do laundry and some basic cleaning but only to keep the health department away and allow me to go out in public..... :)

Hope everyone can find or create at least a few smiles for this day. I know that the dogs have already added a few for me!

Ah Tina, such a nice peaceful morning report. Movin south today. Big rain storm hit just as I got into camp yesterday. Clear blue sky this AM. Lyn

Morning all,

Tina, love your outlook on life. I like to enjoy the outdoors too, but I also like to be busy. It meeps me moving and physically fit. I enjoy working outdoors and although I know a lot of you think I work all the time, it really is my enjoyment for the most part. Especially being out in the fresh air with nature all around me. When I get tired of working outside, I take a day off and go someplace especially in warmer months. Might ge a day in Mackinac enjoying the view of the bridge, the water and all that goes on there or maybe to one of the state parks and walk the dampgrounds, day use areas etc. Never a shortage ofvthings to do or places to go.

Yesterday I went to a small RV show. Nice little variety of rigs and I fell in love with one. Don't know if I can afford to buy one or not. Could do used, but when you are looking for certain model, sometimes hard to find. Have to sell my 19ft. Sportsman trailer first if I decided to do it.

Not sure what's on agenda today. Weather is damp and wet, into low 40's. Rained last night, coming back tonight and showers tomorrow. Nice week coming up starting on Tuesday.

So, hope you all have a nice say. Keep safe on the roads.

A late good morning.
Looks like it will be a beautiful weather day for my last day in FL. Hate that I have to start home tomorrow but have very much enjoyed this trip.
A little cleaning and packing today while others kayaking. Then just enjoy the sunshine until they return.
Our last pot luck late afternoon followed by karaoke at club house tonight. Looking forward to thee Steve and Irmi show.

Cool morning here, but going to get to 80 today, but not completely sunny, so should stay fairly cool inside. Got the windows open, but AC wants to run, so I need to turn it down until it gets hotter outside. Like the smell of fresh air.

Was told yesterday by the gate camp host that the ranger does not allow electric bikes to be ridden in campground unless they are licensed and road-ready. Except electric bikes cannot possibly be licensed and made road-ready!! He has not talked to me directly, but I am going to contact the national COE offices. This does not make sense. Especially since a federal law was passed about ten years ago that said an electric bike was a bike, not a motorbike, and was supposed to obey bike rules. Law said no state could require licensing and insurance on electric bikes, etc. The purpose was to make them friendlier to urban commuters so people would ride them on bike routes instead of driving cars--cuts down on pollution. Rules for these vehicles are they have to have working pedals, can be ridden as a bike, and can go no faster than 20 MPH. I have never had problems in any other campground anywhere, so I need to do some research.

My knees make it impossible for me to ride a regular bike because they swell up the next day even after a short distance and make it almost impossible to walk until they calm down. Plus my back makes it hard for me to walk very far, and the laundry here is too far for me to walk carrying laundry. I lost my handicap tag when I left Michigan, so maybe I should get a new one for Ohio and hang it on my bike??

The storm came through here about 5:30 this morning. I was rocking and rolling. Our campsites are between 2 big ponds. I could just see being blown into one of them. The weather channel didn't have any warnings for this area so I was hoping they were right.

Not much going on. Most of the ladies are playing cards. I told them I didn't want to play because I had to learn Mexican Train last night and I didn't want to over tax my brain. I still got talked into a couple of games.

Donna, hope the shot in your foot helps. My foot isn't hurting today but I have only walked about 1/3 of the steps I usually do. That probably has a lot to do with it. I don't want a shot.

Slept in this morning until my brother showed up about 10:30. We started on hauling out and sorting thru more stuff. Then his daughter and SIL showed up to help with more stuff that was up in the attic. Luckily, I was here because they started throwing stuff out that was clearly mine! I quick grabbed a box and started going thru it and found a doll that I had put my daughter's very first outfit on (from the hospital). I had bought that outfit to put on her to get her first pictures taken and then planned to take it home with me so I would have something of hers with me that smelled like her. The adoptive parents took it with them tho, and when I asked for it back, they refused. I finally got it back several years later when they were going to get rid of it. I put it on the doll then. So there is a LOT of sentimental value with that! It was dirty but not in bad shape. My niece asked "why do you want that old dirty thing?". Once I told her what it was, she got quiet and then started putting stuff aside for me to look thru. Found quite a bit of stuff I wanted to keep or at least was good enough for a thrift store.

My brother says the only things left in the attic are a couple doors and some mattresses that have been completely shredded by the squirrels.
Still have a lot of boxes of things to go thru of mine yet in the closets tho. Found some cool old antique items that I want to take somewhere to get looked at and find out the value of them. I had a small set of books from the late 1800's that I had saved, but they were all chewed up by the squirrels so had to throw them out. Found a lot of cool old photos, letters, etc, tho.

Have someone coming by later to pick up some free things I had advertised.

It is cold, windy and cloudy out and is supposed to remain that way for the next week or so. Wish the sun was out at least.

I also need to make an appointment with my old massage therapist next week. Lots of sore back and shoulder muscles again.

Have a good weekend! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
