The First Day of Spring!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

The First Day of Spring!

Postby Colliemom » Mon Mar 20, 2017 6:35 am

Spring is officially here!!! Well, on the calendar anyway. Sure felt like it yesterday with sunshine and 50 degrees. Snow is gone here now except for piles and drifted spots. Not to say we won't see more, but it won't last. But looking out at the bare ground is nice. Just need to get the frost out of the ground yet though and that will be awhile.

So in meantime, I am heading to town this morning to do some shopping, banking and errands. Then will see what the afternoon brings besides the daily walking session. Really want to get busy on getting that fence moved and added on to. Picking up some fence posts today and maybe might drive a few in if I feel like it and the weather allows. Week is looking pretty good, with highs in the 40's and maybe close to 50, except for Thursday when it will drop for a day. Once I get the posts in where I want them, then I can run the wire and close off the area I want to fence in, move another section of fence over toward my shed, the fence gate to the corner of garage and take down a section to open up the whole works. Dogs will love the expanded yard I know. Little by little it will get done. Also have some other projects to get into out there that were left from last year, but the fence is the biggest one. Need to do a little work in my truck bed too. before summer travel season starts. Things to look forward to.

Velda, sure hope they find out what's wrong with Mel's foot. That sounds like what happened to may cousin. He woke up one morning and was in pain from top of his head to his feet. Had a mess of tests done and nothing showed up, but diagnosis finally was made that it was Rheumatoid Arthritis. So now he has to deal with that the rest of his life. It's gotten so that he has a hard time doing things anymore and he and wife have moved into a condo so he doesn't have to worry about yard maintenance etc.

Okay, time to move along here. Want to wish you all Happy Spring and have a nice day :)

Good Morning Sue and everyone who stops by later,
I'm thinking spring has sprung and I can get Elsie out from storage. This has been such a crazy spring though I hope I'm not being overly optimistic. Did I miss Linda, (Bikerchic's) post about getting a different RV or did I imagine that? :D I had a too busy weekend and I think this is going to be a lazy day. We went to a St Patrick's Day party Saturday. DH told me we would be eating rather early...and I believed him. We ate at 7:40!!! Food was great but I had to excuse myself at 5:30 and go home, feed the dogs and have a snack myself. No way can I go that long without eating. I have an eat every few hours appetite.
Enjoy the day wherever you are.

Good Morning! Finally Spring! WhooHoo! I know that we’ll have at least one more snow storm. Yesterday it was 87* and today the high is supposed to be in the 50’s. Beginning to think that Ma Nature is a little on the bi-polar side. I think the fluctuating temperature is one of the reasons that so many people are sick. I had the darn flu the beginning of the month and pretty much laid low until Friday. Got over the respiratory crap with the help of a couple of prescriptions but just couldn’t shake the bark and feeling so tired. Thought I was going to get bedsores from sleeping so much.

Friday I went to my sisters. A close family friend from our childhood died from Alzheimer’s. Her children wanted her funeral to be a celebration, therefore we had an Irish wake at her son’s house Friday night after the rosary at the church. So with surnames like Keely, Devine, Collins, McMunigal, Buckley, O’Connor and Ruane the old neighborhood clan did it up right. Lots of stories (many that her kids had never heard) and laughs were shared. Carol had been diagnosed about 5 years ago. It’s been about a year and a half since she had to go to a care facility. Since the first of the year she had failed quickly. She was 72. It’s such an ugly disease. The family actually loses them twice.

I have some catching up to do around here, so I’d better get busy! DH birthday is tomorrow so I had to make something for the morning coffee bunch that meets at the city shop every morning. I’m thinking it’s going to be caramel rolls.

Have a good day. Happy for Liz and her new residence. Safe travels to the snowbirds who are migrating north. Prayers to those of you and your family who are experiencing health problems.

Sue, how about taking some before and after photos?? And can you really put those posts in on the frozen ground? Sounds like a lot of work, but if anyone can do it, I'm sure you can.

In this area just over the Georgia border, literally just a few hundred feet, the trees that lost their leaves last fall now have buds and some very tiny leaves, so Spring is definitely here. Saw some azaleas in bloom yesterday, which REALLY means Spring!

Got my windows open for fresh air--no bugs so I can do that now. It is supposed to get to 79 today, but it is still cool outside, so it may not make it. No wind, so I can put awning up also.

Rver's are normally such good people. But this morning I thought we were going to have a fight over a site. The couple who we didn't let have it left in a huff. I got cussed at and I'm it wasn't a decision I could make.... But is the decision I would have made. They were both jerks and arrogant. Needless to say we are not unhappy and hoping they meant their parting words that they will never return.

I still have one restroom to clean. And I have a load of clothes in the drier. Need to do linens, but too much already on this next record-breaking hot day. Right now they are saying high won't hit 70 on Thursday. My fingers and toes are crossed! And will do my bedding then.

Sue, I remember a post from you that the fence was done. Haha, you just like projects.

BJ, Linda has made no announcement, yet. But I expect one still be forthcoming. :D

Out to get that least restroom done and collect my laundry.

First day of spring & we rewinterize the rig! Wisconsin winters are so unpredictable we cannot count on a frost-free night until Memorial Day. But, we had a great month off in Florida: a week to get there, a week at Hillsborough GTG, a week in Bonita Springs & a week to get home. Planning summer travels now.
Be safe on the road & enjoy the ride, ladies.

How did you get that warm and we didn't get over 56* yesterday or today? We usually get your weather the next day. You must be hogging the warm weather there!

Went thru that with my mom. And I always felt like I lost my mom several years before she actually died. By that time I had already gone thru most of the grieving process. It is harder on the family than it is on the one with the alzheimer's.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
