campfire was well hidden...
in Vegas planned on leaving tomorrow thought today I ought to go home but it's late afternoon
don't like driving in the dark and I am tired...then I found out that they are expecting a lot of rain
here tomorrow so not sure if I will leave or not my sister says that for some reason when it is a bad
rain here it is like driving on icy roads up north...I don't do icy roads but so ready to go home...
for a lot of reasons...

I didn't get far today, because the freeways have driven me nuts for a couple of days now. Today I got off and just wandered in the right general direction. It was great, until I made the mistake of listening to the Garmin and went in circles! hahaha

Today I saw the first daffodills of the year! Also saucer magnolia and ornamental cherry (I think) in bloom. Not to mention cattle (Angus and Jersey), horses, ponies, dogs, a goat, rock outcroppings, jack-pine woods. This is why I prefer driving the 2-lane highways. :D

I so agree. Even if it means going in circles.

Louise ~ Maybe driving in circles was nature's way of telling you that there was still more to see before moved on down the road. ;)

Louise I see you are coming to gtg too. If you don't have other stops planned, get over on 27 and follow it down. It will take you through Chattanooga but not as bad as doing 75 through there. In Ky on 27 is a Shaker Village, on down in Ga , right after Chatt is a big battle field and midway way down the state is the" Little White House ". T Rosevelt lived and died there and gardens. Beautiful drive, some areas certain time of day traffic may be a bit heavy. Hope you have a map to check this route out. Thinking of this route to Mi this summer. Of course will be starting in wee north of Chatt, over from NC.

Safe Travels, Enjoy which ever way your route is,
CArol

I just checked map somewhat and doubt I'd try 27 until south of Lexinton, what a nightmare I had there one time ugh. Hoping you find a route you enjoy and not too bad to travel,

It was good backroad driving today, fetching up in Gadsden AL. I saw two flocks of goats! Do people in Alabama drink a lot of goats' milk? Also saw a donkey and some Charlevoix cattle, as well as the usual livestock. Somebody had a Magnolia stellata in full bloom in their front yard! I love those. :D Had an enormous lunch at a place just named "Cafe" -- it looked like a dive, but the food was wonderful. It's almost 7:00 and I'm still stuffed! (Yes, I saved a bite for Drew.)

Carol, we're going to have to talk. I've always liked 27, but I've never taken it south of Louisville. You coming to MI this summer?

Got my surgery on my leg done this morning. I guess it all went
well. They didn't do the mohs, just took out extra and will biopsy
the edges. Its doesn't seem to hurt yet and it was done at 8 this
morning. My new glasses are ready, guess I'll pick those up tomorrow.

Yes, Louise hoping to get to Mi this summer or late Spring, have an elderly aunt in Rosebush, N of Mt Pleasant, that I'm hoping to see. Plus cousins and friends all over up there, my birth state.

I'm hoping also to get at least a couple of days at GTG, if so, will see you there or elsewhere before you head north.

Alice hoping your leg heals quickly and that they got it all.

Coming thru TX, I saw Red Buds blooming, some TX blue bonnets peaking their heads up, and those large pink flowers that I think are vines. I do drive the Interstates when on such a long trip. Lady Bird Johnson had the wild flowers sprinkled on the TX interstates. She did a good job. Lyn

Sounds like a pretty drive. I like the interstates on a long trip too and sometimes, they are the most direct. Still looking a PA maps etc. Talk of trips west has me yearning to go back, but probably next year. Don't really plan on seeing a whole lot in PA, Gettysburg, PA Dutch country etc. then work way back home. Looking at taking 68 across MD on way out and probably 80 on way back. Change of scenery per say. Have to do a little plotting on how to handle fur kids since can't leave in truck in parking lots at Gettysburg park due to park rules. , which wouldn't want to if it's hot anyway. Probably have to leave them at Campground while I go to visitor center and then go get them for self driving tour in park etc. As we know, campgrounds aren't keen on pets being left unattended either, although have donec hat. Things like that make me wonder if it's worth the drive out there for that or better left for a more extensive trip to other areas out east. PA, MD. DE and NJ are only states I haven't been to east of the Mississippi.

I haven't experienced any problems with leaving my dogs in my rig at campgrounds as I have headed out to explore. Mine are used to being crated both at home and as they travel. I don't generally leave them for long periods (8-10 hours) but know that I can if I have to. (Occasionally at home when I am working or on some of those rare, long day trip adventures when out exploring while camping.....)

I have never been approached or questioned at a campground about leaving my dogs in my rig. As long as dogs aren't constantly barking it isn't as if anyone will even notice. Just my experience.
