Saturday, Jan. 28

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday, Jan. 28

Morning,

Some days it's just hard to figure out a catchy title up there. Nothing exciting to report from here either. Spent yesterday cleaning up from painting the guest bathroom the day before and putting stuff back up on the walls. Thoughts are now turning to the kitchen.

Barb, so glad you are with your dad in his final days. Hope you and your brother can put a stop to the scammers once and for all.

Mickie, thought about you while I was cleaning and painting the bathroom. Hope you find the house you want. Doesn't have to be brand new, but if it's structurally sound and everything has been maintained, you can always repaint or redecorate like I am doing.

Enjoying reading about who's spending the green and who's not at Q. Enjoying Liz's pictures from FL too.

So, guess I'll quit jabbering about nothing and move along. Nothing special going on today here. Hopped you all have a good one. Prayers to you Barb.

Mornin' Sue, Donna & all that follow ~~~
Cold, grey & dreary again in Chitown. Been the greyest January on record I think. But the lack of snow this Winter is OK with me, just guessing we may get dumped on in March when I really start looking forward to Spring. Ah, Winters in the Midwest. ;)

Not a whole lot on the agenda except one chore I'm not looking forward to in the high 20* temps today. Climbing on the roof of Colt with an extension ladder is not my favorite thing to do, but need to get it off and get stuff out of there for the trade to Colt 2.0 (or Colt Jr ~ another decision to make! )

Had about 30 seconds of buyers remorse the other night. Realized there is no drawer in the kitchen, lots more cabinets than I have now though. Where to put utensils?! Thought about the 'no' on the other rigs I like and went right back to 'good decision made'. I'll figure out something once I spend time in it. Probably another trip to the Container Store. They've got some things that the big box stores just don't have.

Once the new TT is home and tucked away for the remainder of the Winter, I've then got a list of seasonal campgrounds to look into. Just hope they are not already booked with regulars at this late date.

The new boss is still a jerk, but the good news is my project from hell is finally going live next weekend. No one realized it's Super Bowl weekend, but we'll just do what we did on a last project and bring out the giant conference TV & have the game on (last time it was movie weekend).

That's the news from here. Hope everyone is good. Stay safe where ever you are.

Good morning gals. I got a good nights sleep so that will help me feel better today.

My brother, Paul, and I will be going to my dad's bank to see if we can take care of some things there, then over to my dad's house and check on things there, and then to the hospital to see my dad and find out how things are going there.

I need to make some major decisions in the next few days. Am considering moving back here instead of California for now, and moving into the house. There is a lot of work to be done with finances, paying the utilities, cleaning and purging in the house and just need to have someone living there until it can be put up for sale in the spring. Paul can't handle it all by himself and David (other brother) probably won't do much, if any, of it. California will still be there when I am ready to move there. I will talk it over with Paul today or tomorrow and see what he says but I think he will welcome the idea a lot. I know he is very worried about dealing with it all but he won't ever ask for help. Lot's to think about... (Donna, I am sure you can totally relate!)

Hope you all have a good day. Those in Q, don't spend all your money! Hope it warms up there soon.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Hello Donna.

I often read your blog, although I don't think I have made a comment in the past. I always enjoy reading it.

That is a good looking RT that you have! I think that if I ever gave up my cargo van, an RT would be just the ticket. One of the things (among many) that I like about my van is that it is easy to drive and easy to park. I'll bet the RT is this way, too.

Well, happy travels! Little Pheebe looks like a sweetheart.

Anne

Ps. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to post a comment to your blog. There wasn't a "post comment here" button that I could see, so I finally clicked on the "no comments" button, and the "comments" window popped right up! A bit confusing.

I made a comment, went to post it on your blog - and it came back with an error message. My comment did not post. I gave up.

Luckily, I almost always make a copy of my posts before I post them, that way if something goes wrong (as it did on your blog) I can post it elsewhere. As I have here.

Good morning
So much to do,,,trying to get stuff put back away from my trip,
took hours to find the tv remote when I hooked the tv back up
in the bedroom last night. I knew I brought in from the car but
but among the many bags I hauled in from car, I could remember
where I set it. I did find it where it had fallen on the floor next
to the laundry basket. So all was well for me to fall asleep in my
normal routine.
Bought some earrings at Q and also a small solar charger for the
cell phone and iPad. Its a tad bigger than the iPad, folds like a
book. You open it and hang it on the window with suction cups,
or can hang on a tree with the carbineers. I'm very happy with
this purchase. Fits nicely in a backpack.
Now that I'm retired, I feel the urge to nest and cook. A lot of
plans in that dept. Maggie's done nothing but sleep since we got
home. Guess she was having so much fun on vacation, she needs
a vacation from her vacation. Hahaha.
Ok, I'm off to get this place up and put back together. Y'all enjoy
your day, be safe.

Morning all!

Only thing on the agenda today is groceries, and trying to think of some super simple recipes to try so we can stop buying expensive processed stuff. Mary eats beans almost every day (her favorite) and I end up buying things like canned ravioli to have for lunch... so not healthy.

Cheryl - grayest I can remember (downstate) was back in '90 or '91, 27 days without a single peek of sunshine, I was either going to go postal or crumple down and sob uncontrollably... but Mary took some time off and we took a couple of week driving rip to the FL Keys. Ahhhh. No such luck this year.

Barbie - sounds like being home might be a very good choice. I left for FL after my mom died and left my brother in charge of prepping and selling our moms place (I'd been her day to day caregiver for years and needed a break), he just pitched almost everything, did nothing to clean or make the place presentable. Bottom line was/is lots of lost memories and little money from the sale.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all,
Donna, I love your blog! I don't always get to read it but I appreciate your reminders when you update it. Your RT is beautiful! Definitely worth taking care of what needs fixin' so you can enjoy it! Glad to see that you're stilll taking some time out for little adventures. In time, everything with your dad's estate will be finished but you won't get this time back so enjoy it when you can.
Cheryl, scheduling a project to go live on Super Bowl sunday made me laugh. Sorry about the new boss though - how far away is retirement for you?
Barbie, sounds like you have a plan - hope all goes well - continuing prayers for you, your dad & everyone else involved.

Not much going on out here - work, baby, work, baby, work, baby... I am enjoying my work more though - it's starting to be fun again. :) And I only have the baby part time so that helps as my projects for work get more complex. The rain finaly stopped & we're supposed to warm back up later this week as more rain arrives. Winter here is still easier than in the Midwest so I enjoy it.

Well, that's it - going to catch up on some of the GTGs happening.
Take care out there.

Good morning
Boy is it cold (by FL standards); 35 in Ocala this morning. Several days of this and then back to warm again. Have sweat suits and long johns to keep me warm.
Tina, Liz and Claudia stopped by yesterday on their way back from dog show. We went out for lunch and had very nice but all too brief a visit. They had to get back to their CG to tend fur babies who had been alone for a long time. Will get a chance to visit with them plus Irmi and Steve this afternoon. I do hate that we are scattered in different CGs but am grateful for those with cars taking the time to come pick me up.
Discovered a Friday night bingo game at park where I'm staying. First time I've played in years. Didn't win but it was cheap entertainment for a few hours.
Have a good day

My news today is not good. It appears my husbands cancer has returned, this time in lungs. We won't know much until we see his Dr Tuesday and lung cancer dr on the 16 th. Dr called last night with results of scan done Monday which showed several nodules in lungs. Likely presumption is its the clear cell from palate, originally removed and radiated in June 2013. More tests to come.
We are just reeling.

So sorry to hear this Velda. Prayers and hugs for your hubby, you and family. Seems like a long time to wait to see the lung cancer doctor. Can he get in sooner?

Thank you for the comforting thoughts. The time between now and the 16th will likely be filled with various tests the ENT Dr indicated when he called last night after he got out of the OR. Even though we weren't scheduled to see him until next Tiesday, the day he got results of scans he got the ball rolling with the referral. He will draw up a,plan Tuesday and is having the case go before the comprehensive cancer board for ideas as well. ENT still in charge because hey operated on the original tumor and found the neck recurrence and operated on that. We also have a radiation oncologist who did radiation and will likely be part of this decision team. I pray there is treatment to stop this since it could be difficult to excuse tiny tumors in lungs! Hoping one of the brand new immune drugs like Jimmie Carter got will help.
The difficulty is the original tumor also confirmed in the neck in fall of 2015 and removed, and likely is in lungs. It's kind of a mystery because it's so rare that it's hard to have enough cases to gain experience for Drs to know the best plan. As of his original diagnosis there were under 30 cases worldwide diagnosed. It's a sneaky cancer.
