Foggy Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Foggy Sunday

Postby Colliemom » Sun Jan 22, 2017 9:33 am

Good Morning,

Another day with the fog here, although yesterday wasn't too bad. It's just that milder air over the snow pack that's causing it. O'Sharon, if you are looking for sun, don't get your hopes up. If this same weather pattern is moving in on you, it's very gray and damp. You may or may not have fog since you don't have snow on the ground there. Am watching the Weather Channel this morning about all the severe weather moving across the Southeast. Hoping all those in it's path will be safe as we have a number of forum sisters scattered about in those areas being hit. Even those heading to Q are having issues and CA is in for some really rough weather too.

Donna, sounds lke you are going to have to make some decsions as to what you want to do. Since you want a home base in FL, maybe a cargo van might be better for you in a way rather than put money into the Trek. But it might only be a temporary thing and once those things are fixed, you may be all set for awhile. Depends on how much you want to travel. Maybe a small C would fit the bill for you. Hard decisions. I know i am doing the same thing about a new truck. Get a new one under lease again or buy out my friends neighbors truck. Am also contemplating selling my TT and getting a different one. One thing at a time.

Winter is coming back on Tuesday. So I will be back to painting again. Have the paint for the bathroom and then that will be done. Then it's off to the kitchen area, the last room I plan to do. More work involved in there as have to take down a border and some wallpaper. I have removed part of the border already and it's just pulled right off with no problem. Was done in a couple of minutes. The wallpaper has been on for a long time, so it's starting to curl at teh seams a bit. Me thinks it is drying out as well and hopefully will peel right off as well. But today's plan is to rake a bit more snow off my back roof. It's gotten very soft ans is easy to pull down.

And like O'Sharon, I too am thinking of a trip for later down the line. Once I get the truck thing straightened out etc. Gettysburg is very much in my sights and I need to do some planning if I want to go. Got a new Good Sam RV Travel and Savings Guide yesterday, so now can look up campgrounds etc. So sounds like some of us are thinking summer plans now.

Well, time to go do breakfast dishes, have a nice day all. Stay safe in the path of the storms.

Morning Sue!

Just made a nice breakfast and will head to the gym in a bit. Later this afternoon we are going to look at a house we're interested in, if we like it we'll make an offer. It's the nicest, least expensive, house in a great neighborhood we really like, so fingers crossed... although it would be better if the condo was already sold, it's not a deal breaker. As Mary points out "you gotta live someplace, and no place is free".

We hit 64 here yesterday with brilliant sunshine, it was awesome!! Today is some milky sun with 50 degrees... weirdest January ever.

Good morning, Sue and all following. We may not have snow on the ground, Sue but the fog is really thick this morning as it was yesterday. Temps were really high yesterday, at least for a January day! And we had sun most of the day! I went out and managed to clean up after the dogs! Makes me ask myself why I have 2 big dogs! At least this time of year I wonder! And yes, know that winter is coming back this week! Pretty sure we'll be dealing with some freezing rain and maybe some snow. But at least we aren't having what's happening down south. Hope everyone down in that part of the country is staying safe.

I went out and fired up Lola yesterday and checked everything out. The CO2 was chirping so I need to get a new battery for it. Other then that all seemed okay. Then sadly I had to zip her back up to keep her safe from the elements! Spring will come! Sue, hoping you make it to Gettysburg this year. Hoping we can meet up when you do!

Hoping those on the way to Q are arriving safely. Wondering how my friends heading for Myrtle Beach this morning are doing. They were leaving about 3 this morning so imagine they were dealing with the fog. So anxious to hear when they get there. Well, time to go upstairs and get dressed and ready for the day. No big plans for the day. I need to get gas in the car so will take the dogs for a ride to the gas station! So little makes them happy! Have a great day and travel safe!
Mickie, hope this house is what you're looking for. Fingers crossed!

Good Morning,

We may be in for some exciting weather - sorry to hear the Mississippi and Georgia news. I don't leave until Tuesday, but I loaded the SS this morning - not riding in the gusty winds. Hoping the gals in Q get a break along with those trying to get there.

Getting a bit disgusted with all the political stuff on FB so I'll go another way - mainly because I see the same stuff shared over and over. I was in line at Walmart the other day and in the line next to me were two women together with separate orders. The first gets through, opens something and promptly stands there and applies deodorant!! At least she was wearing a spaghetti strap sundress! The restroom was right across from her and maybe her friend could have watched her basket?!? I know I had another unusual story, but I'll be darned if I can remember it!

Make it a great day and be safe!

Mornin' ladies ~~~
Yes, it's been quite soupy around here too for quite a while. Had a bit of sun yesterday and it kind of surprised me 8-)

Still on the hunt for an RV, but think I have it narrowed down to (at least as of yesterday), 2 floor plans. One of the floor plans is made by 3 different manufacturers (so far that I know), and between those 3, know which one I'd pick. Still one floor plan to look at and was waiting for it to get to General RV mid-February, but one of the dealer websites I always check got it in stock early, so off to Indiana tomorrow.

Min-gtg with Eileen yesterday in Sturtevant, WI. No pics. Never think of it. BIL & I went to check out the 2 floor plans I like and Eileen met us there for another RVers opinion. Then of course lunch!

On the new boss front, think we went from bad to just as bad. Hoping it's only a 'flexing my power' honeymoon period and once he gets to know his boss better, will cut it out. Wishful thinking maybe, but we'll see.

Heard about the CA (I think) campground that got hit with a landslide yesterday. Thankfully no fatalities and only minor injuries. There was some warning I think, but some folks in a cabin rode it out and are OK too. Thank goodness for miracles.

Other than that, not much else new. Stay safe ladies where ever you are.

Good morning everyone,

Rain, rain & more rain out here in sunny CA. :o We definitely need it but wish it could be spread out a little more. They expect 4-6" in the storm that's coming thru today & tomorrow. I anxiously watched the creek next to our parking lot rise Friday - wondering if/when I should move the traveling van which is parked next to the curb alongside it. Will watch for a spot a little further away from the creek to move it to today - problem is most folks in the complex stay in when it rains - especially on a weekend. At least I don't have to worry about cold, snow or ice. ;)

DD & SIL came up Friday evening. We went to the Getty Center & Villa yesterday. The center is really nice, will have to visit it again sometime. The entire setting is beautiful - can see just idling away a full day there. The kids headed back to San Diego last night due to the amount of rain predicted to come thru today.

Donna, I wish things were easier for you - just keep moving thru each day & eventually you'll find yourself on the other side of all the hassle with the estate. And sorry about the problems with the RT. Guess you fix what has to be fixed & live with what isn't critical. Those are the words of wisdom that my brother who lived on a sail boat for years told me. That helps when deciding what I must tend to & what isn't really that critical.

Anita, I'm sick of the political stuff on FB & on the news too.
Mickie, Good luck with the condo. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.
Beth, glad you had the opportunity to go to the Women's march. These are interesting times we are living in.
Sarah, hope that window of escape does open up for you. Getting together with gals from this group is always a good time.
Karen, I'm a wuss too - hope the winds die down so you can continue onto the Q. Hope it warms up a little for everyone there- can't wait to hear how it's going.

Well, enough rambling...
Hope everyone stays safe

Sue, don't forget that there are handy camping areas at about half of the Ohio Turnpike rest areas. $20 in cash for electric hookups, and they have water and a dump station, although the water is at the exit which makes it awkward with a trailer unless you bring some with you.

Windy today and some clouds, maybe a couple of sprinkles. Have to leave here on Tuesday morning, but am excited to be able to stop at my cousin's house and pick up all the packages for stuff I have ordered. Glasses still not there, but going to call tomorrow. Will be at Jonathan Dickinson for a few days and then back to Ortona for a long week.

Not much going on with me, other than I am still making reservations for this summer at a bunch of COE campgrounds in Colorado and Utah mountains for July.

Another nasty wind and rain storm in northern California last night. Luckily our remaining trees still standing after a scary one falling into our yard and neighbors last week. Healthy trees should not be breaking 6 to 8 in diameter roots and just fall over. Unprecedented wind and last night too.
Stay safe all.

Just got home from Quartzsite.
Had a great time! Got there Friday around noon. Left Phoenix around 9am and the roads were dry the whole way and no wind until just a few miles before Q, so good driving. Met up with a MN friend who is staying out there in her 5th wheel. Nice rig!
Then went and located Sheila and Ava. Stayed with Sheila for the weekend. Friday night it rained alot. I drove up to where Linda (Bikerchik) was staying and visited with her and Ken for awhile. Amazingly, I found my way back in the dark and rain! Was very windy all night too.
Woke up on Saturday to clear skies and light breeze! Beautiful day! Ava and I went to the big tent area and shopped at the booths for a couple hours. I dropped her back off at her RV and I went back to shop some more! :o Later, we all met at Sheila's site and had a potluck/birthday/retirement party. It was me, Sheila, Ava and Bill, Linda and Ken, Lyn, and Kerry, her brother and their significant others. So it was a good group. I did take pics and will post them later.
Today, Linda and I had planned to go up to Parker to the Desert Bar but it was cold and drizzly this morning and I had a sinus headache so we scrapped that plan. I think she and Ken left shortly after that. I went back to the big tent and did a little more shopping. Then packed up and headed out around 2pm. Stopped at the famous Nekked Bookstore owners shop (he was fully clothed due to the chilly weather) and then hit the road. Was pretty windy all the way back to Phoenix but no rain.

Evie, that is a sad story about that couple and their brand new 5th wheel! How heartbreaking! I hope they had good insurance! But still...!

"Anita, as much trouble as you have had with that trailer I think I would have bought a new on too. You should charge for rides to pay for the new trailer. "

You could just put out a tip jar!

Gotta unpack and get settled in for the night. Up early for work tomorrow morning! My brother will be in town this week so will have to find time to meet up with him and his wife. Only one more week of work! Then pack up and head west! Hope the weather calms down for my move! Don't want to be pulling a U-Haul in all that rain and wind!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
