Thursday Thaw

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday Thaw

Postby carolb » Thu Jan 12, 2017 7:27 am

Gmorning all :)

A nice break from winter for another day--45 yesterday, 55 today. Think most of us in the North/NE are enjoying this break? So sad for CA, hope all of our forum family there are safe!

Not much going on with me, so I'm mostly reading posts these days. Hooray for you Alice, now down to 2-3 days of punching the clock!

And with that, wishing y'all a great day & good health always 8-)

Morning!

Heading into an ice storm here, should be a mess for the next few days, but then, as our weather seems to go this year, it will pop back up to the 50's next week. Seems like I say this every year now, but this is the weirdest weather!

Have an ortho appointment this afternoon, I'm very curious to see what they have to say about my knee replacement. It healed very badly, even though I followed their instructions to the letter. I know I got stuck with a weird carcass, but once in a while I wish it would play nice.

Good morning,
Carolb only two days to punch, Friday and Tuesday, whoop whoop
Cleaned out my locker just now so that's done.
Thinking and planning for meals for the Q trip, I know I'm stressing
over that too cause it will be a new experience, the boondocking
thing,,,but we have a generator so we should be able to run the
microwave. I'm really over thinking everything, guess I'm just
full of anxiety.
Ok, y'all have a good day and be safe

Good Morning Carolb and all who follow,

Glad you are enjoying your bit of "spring break" Carolb. We had that weather earlier this week, but as much as it's nice to see the warm air, with all the snow we have here, it creates a big mess, especially when it poured rain the other night. Just made big icy mess all over as ground is frozen and no place for that water to go. Resulted in over 100 schools closing down due to icy roads etc. Guess we get another bit of a warm up next week too. Right now it's just light snow out there and we had about 3-4 inches last night I would say. Will be going out later today and clean that up. But first gotta ask if all of you are sitting down cause i have some earth shaking news for ya. I"m not painting today! Finished my living room late yesterday afternoon. Was a big project between the taping and the painting and I"m glad this one is done. It was the last big painting project, now just a bathroom and kitchen left. Not as much paintng there. So today it's going to be a putzin' day. Will be going around cleaning up the living room, rehanging the pictures, putting the plug/switch plates back on and the furniture back in place. Just kind of get things back in order in the house too.

O'Sharon, if you are getting cabin fever, grab a paint brush and change color in a room or something, that will keep you busy for a bit  Alice, know your time to retirement is coming up fast Don't worry, it will all work out . Take some time for yourself and get you plans organized. You will find yourself plenty busy. MIckie, the reason I favor Forest River is cause I love TT's with front windows, they let in so much light. I like the looks and floor plan of the Flagstaff Micro Lite 21FBRS, but not the price  Forest River also has an owners group called F.R.O.G. Every year they have a big GTG at the plant in Elkhart and their factory techs are available to do any repairs, replacements or whatever else you need at that time.

So guess I will move along here. Wishing you all a nice day today. Alice, see you snuck in before me :)

Good Morning from Clermont, FL

Carolb, always good to see your post, but was hoping for a departure date. :) Alice, how your life is about to change with retirement! Mickie, those knee replacements can sure cause problems so hoping you get good answers. As I sit here looking at my mess, I wish I could go rig shopping and start over.

I did a big shopping trip to WalMart yesterday plus some chores. Visited with neighbors and one just cracks me up. I knew from talking with him the day before he has a great sense of humor so I can get on his case with some of his questions. He is absolutely stunned that I have the SS. Do you drive it? (Duh, have you seen a man around?) Did your husband pick it out? The funniest was when he realized he and another guy saw me when we were here a few weeks ago and they were shocked my husband would let me drive it! He just kept digging himself deeper. :)

One neighbor may be interested in my folding bike so I'll get it out - if he doesn't want it, I'll advertise it here in the park. There's always cleaning to do. While I'm here, two guys are interested in coming to look at the trailer.

Awful to see all the extreme weather. Everyone stay safe and make it a great day.

We are having spring break weather too. Yesterday it was 76 and suppose to go to 79 today. We have the air conditioner back on. We are suppose to be in the 70's for the next week but with a chance of rain every day. I sure hope we have these temperatures in 2 weeks because I am suppose to go camping with the Louisiana Belles. I should clean up my motorhome and go to the lake but I'm awfully lazy. I had to replace one of the tire monitors and as usual I had it all messed up. I even managed to get some on the wrong wheels but I think I have them fixed. My monitor system is almost 7 years old. I sure hope it's not going out. I was messing with it when it was so cold and it wasn't picking up signals very fast. It was working fine yesterday when it was warm.

I am thinking about going to Lafayette. I want a new dish drain rack and Walmart doesn't have anything I liked. Not sure my cabin fever is bad enough to make me drive that far.

Good morning all. Been out already and got my hair cut but needed to get home since the wind picked up and the garbage cans were near the street so I just knew I'd be chasing after them or else they'd be flattened by a big truck. I got lucky and only one was moving toward the street so got lucky there! Need to go into State College to get dog food again and a couple of other stops. Tempature is showing 60 right now with more rain on the horizon. Supposed to be back down in the 30's tomorrow with snow and ice again.

Sue, not sure I want to pick up a paint brush even though I do have a couple of paint projects lined up. I've managed to keep busy but just needed to get out of the house for awhile! The boys went with me earlier and will load them up again when I head out again. I think they needed to see something different too! It's a good day to take them, not to cold or hot! Alice, so exciting that you only have a couple more days to go! Anita, have you given a shovel to the guys yet?! Mickie, when I sold my RT and bought Lola the big thing for me was the big side windows. That's besides the fact I felt like I needed to duck down all the time! I think those were the two main factors for me in buying a C. I love my big windows!

Time to get a move on and go get my running done. Have a great day and stay warm and travel safe if you're on the move.

Beautiful sunny day here on the ocean today! In fact, it is absolutely as perfect as can be with a slight cooling breeze.

Heading across the road on my bike soon to take a guided kayak tour sponsored by friends of the state park, so I'm looking forward to that. I am taking my old camera just in case I get it wet and wearing old clothing. Will be posting photos on my blog about that. I posted yesterday on some of the beach damage here at Gamble Rogers--three of the four boardwalks over to the beach are missing parts so are closed. The one that did not get damaged was a simple set of stairs without the handicap ramps, which is what mostly got washed away. I might try riding my bike a ways down the road towards Flagler Beach to take photos of damaged buildings. This area got one of the worst hits of Hurricane Matthew with Highway A1A washed away (now repaired) in a couple of places. Most of the damage was because the road goes right along the beach here so not much to buffer it. Makes a terrific view, however, and there are no big high-rise hotels and condos here, which is what I like about this part of Florida!!

Supposed to rain a bit tomorrow, but I hope not much.

Good morning
Early spring like temps here also. Sure beats the dangerous cold of a week ago.
Think I finally got basics worked out on smart phone, my first one so quite a learning curve. Old dogs need to learn new tricks now and then.

Good Morning! Happy day here! I finally sold my Taurus about an hour ago. I had it advertised on different Facebook Buy and Sells for over a month. Tuesday I made some flyers and placed them around town….our neighbors who live around the corner bought it! Should have just advertised in town first.

Nothing else is really new. The weather is cold but supposed to warm up over the weekend. Waiting for a phone call. One of my friend’s husband had a seizure this morning was taken to the hospital in the ambulance and she promised she’d call one of us girls when they knew something.

Enjoying all the pictures from Florida. Can’t wait to see the activity at Q.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Hi ladies ~~~ I'm sure it's not morning anymore.
Sooooo glad I'm at home this week with the ice this A.M. ~ but class is still boring but better. Checking in at work a few times a day, and my opinion of the new boss is not the nicest. Time will tell. Got an estimate this A.M. on painting the great room (frontroom, dining & kitchen). Not as bad as I expected. Doing the 14' ceiling when I first moved in was not fun and neither was the tumble when I fell down the open stairway to the basement. This time, I'm letting a professional do it. They've got all the gadgets to get way up high & over stairs. I'm getting too old for this

Beatiful pics Barbie, but my brain is in class mode and took me a sec to wonder how you got a hold of Peaches! duh

Have a good day ladies & stay safe where ever you are.

We are having a few showers today again. Watching noon news and awed to hear this week ski areas got from 88 to 157 inches of snow this week! They say 40% of the state can be considered out of the drought. That still means 60% are still in drought due to long years of no rain and snow. Sure enjoying watching my rain gauge show inches creeping up! So far .12 today, much less than the 2 inches Tuesday! However some areas still having rising water covering roads and filling buildings. Glad we are high and dry.
Have a good day all.

Barbie what great pictures from Tucson and Peaches is totally adorable!!!! I didn't realize she had the white markings!
The temps went from 67 to 47 in just a few minutes this morning. It is now down to 37, what a switch! I bet lots of kids went to school without a coat this morning if they could get by with it and are really sorry now.
We are supposed to get freezing rain tomorrow but warming up so hoping it does. The ground is pretty warm so fingers crossed.
Ava I remember when you first had the chart across the bottom of your post and I think you had like 7 years to go!!! I can't imagine how excited you must be now that the time has arrived. I just know you will have a wonderful time and will travel down many happy roads.
Anita I have to laugh at your experiences with those unenlightened men!! I bet they wouldn't even attempt to drive your SS, like you would let them!! :)

I just noticed that Barbie got a good portion of Peaches' stairs she needs to get up to the bed. :) But she refuses to use them coming down. Her vet says that's because it's her hips that hurt jumping up. She lands on her front paws coming down... No pain in those.

I went to the library today to use their wifi to let all the updates happen on my phone. Did a couple website changes... Can you believe next thing I knew I'd been there 3 1/2 hours. Time flies. Part of it was waiting to get a new code to download an upgrade to a program I have. They kept sending me a link that didn't work. 1/2 an hour after I left, the right info came. It's dated, so I'll need to go back or elsewhere with my computer to take care of it. I don't like doing the stuff that takes too much of my data so use wifi for that.

Have any of you ever seen or used the hot logic mini? I've been thinking about getting one and got a 1/3 off discount today only with free shipping, so ordered it. I'm hoping I like it as much as my pressure cooker.
