Hello again

Hello Gals,

Been a while since I dropped in, wanted to say hi and see if I've missed anything big?

News from our household - we have moved back to Illinois. It was heartbreaking to have the dream die so painfully, but we are happy to be home. I got very sick with my asthma in Florida and the doctors seemed unable to get it under control. Turns out I'm ridiculously sensitive to mold, so Florida being Florida, I simply could not breathe the last four months. I was using every medication they could throw at it and it wasn't enough. Lots of longs conversations later we both admitted FL wasn't our favorite place and that we really didn't enjoy the endless drama/trauma of condo living. So my wife checked in with her boss (she was telecommuting from her IL job) and her boss was thrilled to have her back. We moved right back into the exact same apartment we left a year and a half ago, and have settled back in nicely.

Hope everyone here is well and happy, I've missed you gals.

It's good to see you check back in. Sorry your move didn't work out. But I get the mold issue as it sets me off as well. I can walk through a store and smell and feel mold in a potato or orange in a bag without having to go look. Produce managers look at me funny when I say you have a rotten bit of produce somewhere in that pile. Certain times of year there is mold in our air here in CA if we have had the right amount of rain and then we get a warming trend. Fortunately that isn't often.
It is quite uncomfortable for asthmatics like you and I and hard for others to understand. I wish you well in your new home.

So good to hear from you. Sorry that dream didn't work, but hopefully you can work on a new dream. Florida is hard on me, too. Maybe try a trip to Arizona one day.

Velda - amen! Same with walking through a store, I can smell/feel mold a mile away.

Bethers - I've lived in AZ and NM before, but not since my asthma got so bad.

Tentative new dream is buying a TT in the next year (IF our condo in FL sells), then Mary retiring early and us taking off to wander. We'll have a tiny retirement coming in, but some workcamping will stretch that budget to a comfortable level.

Maybe at first Mary could work via a remote connection while you test out TT weekend or long weekend trips until you decide how you like it. Then your travels may lead you to places where your lungs are comfortable. So many RVs to choose from, you will have fun TT shopping!

Welcome back and thanks for checking. Sorry things didn't work out as you had hoped but sometimes these twists lead to better things.

Understand the mold reaction problem. Been fighting some unusually severe allergy problems for past 9 months. So far meds are not helping much.

Here's to you getting a quick sell on condo and finding the perfect TT.

How nice that you were able to get back in your old apartment. Right now Florida is not agreeing with me either--have been getting really big reactions to mosquito bites. It was bad enough about three weeks ago that I almost left Florida, but a visit to urgent care and some prednisone helped and the red welts went away. But a couple of days ago I stayed outside too close to dusk chatting with a neighbor and have more stinging and itching swellings.

I love the birds and animals in Florida, but it is much better out west where there are hardly any mosquitos, so it may be a while before I come back here.

Hope your allergies settle down now that you are back home.

We've been back since September and it took my lungs the first two months to calm down. I just wasn't willing to keep feeling that way... or live on daily prednisone forever. Judy, my SO had the same issue with bugs, in order for her to go running any time close to dusk or dawn she had to be coated in bug spray.

All in all, even though it's really cold here, being home is much better.

Happy to know that you found a way to stay healthier and breathe on a regular schedule. Keep in touch here because you know we want to know when any new wheels head off to non moldy parts of the country. And anyway not all adventures in life have to do with RVs.

bb - the whole not breathing thing was all consuming, I stopped almost everything, including seeing friends. Never knew how much it could affect my entire life. But I will try to be be good now that I'm close to healthy again. :D

Sheila - we live in Urbana, where the University of Illinois is. I'd forgotten how much I missed diversity, there was none where we lived in FL, here it's like a rainbow with all the International students.

Hi Mickie ~
Welcome back. Sorry sunny FL didn't work out for you, but look at it this way, you & Mary are back to experiencing 4 seasons :P
Maybe I'll run into you somewhere in my travels around IL or at the Rosemont RV show (hint hint).

Hey Cheryl! We are considering the Rosemont show, if we go I'll definitely ping you so we can meet up. Although last time we went there were so many kids running in and out of the units it was hard to see much.

Mickie - I always go to the Rosemont show on Friday and get there when it opens. Figure if I see something I really like, I've got 2 days to go back & look at it again if need be. . . plus the kids are in school :!:

There is also a new show this year in Schaumburg at the convention center. Smaller show, but the dealers are starting to pull out of the boat show because their area keeps getting down sized. I can't afford another day off work right now, so I'll probably hit that show on Saturday.
