Janice, here is a prayer that you will be homeless ( ) real soon! Lot's of work here on the front side and then kick back and travel around a bit and be ready to make a quick trip back and sign all the papers. Mickey D's got it right "I'm lovin it"

janice, congrats on the decision. Things will start really moving soon, all for the better. I will like to caution on the use of the PODS though. They have central areas where they bring the pods to for storage. Check out where it will be for you. When the time comes and you buy another house and want the pod delivered, the cost of delivery might be out of left field. I have a friend who used the PODS when she moved to North Carolina. The closest storage area was Atlanta, 4 hrs from her. She's not ready to have it delivered, but knows the price is going to be high, or she'll have to get to Atlanta and either hire movers or a Uhaul to get to NC. Also check into the rules for getting to your container. PODS charges $25.00 and needs notice to get the container down, as they are stacked. There are other companies out there now, so maybe they are more convenient. I'm not against the PODS, I think they are a good idea but never would have considered this. Congrats again on making the decision.

The PODS facility is about 10 miles from my house. I priced PackRat, and PODS was cheaper -- AND the customer service so much better. The sales person at PackRat sent me around in circles, trying to figure out what each choice would cost. But the convenience!!! I'm so happy to not have to carry things twice & drive in between. Whoever thought of doing it this way is making a MINT.

Janice, congratulations on getting your house on the market! I hope it sells quickly, that you get 98% of the asking price, and that you get to move on to the next phase of your life with minimal effort. How long ago did you lose your husband?

I look forward to reading about your adventures...

Thanks for the good thoughts, Michelle. I lost my DH 4 1/2 years ago. It's been a
really tough go of it for me ... and I'm feeling so much stronger now. I need to
stop living a life in the shadow of his death and make a life for ME. It's sad and
exciting all at once.

I'm moving quickly. Today I hired a contractor that provides handyman services,
as well as painting and a bit of construction & electrical work. So ... even if
I don't sell the house, it will be spiffed up & working well. They're starting
Friday and will be done in about a week. So I'll have it on the market (and me on
the road!) by my target date of May 1st.

Thursday will be a really busy day for me. My POD gets delivered that day, and
workers arrive the next. So I'll be totin' that bale into the wee hours. LOL.

Janice, there will be times when you will miss your husband when you are traveling. It happens to me when I top a rise and see a beautiful plain backed by mountains and I just wish my DH was there to enjoy it with me, then I remember, he is!

Sparkle, I feel the same way. I'm sure my late husband is laughing along with me about Sammie. He never liked small dogs but I think he would go for her. We always wanted to travel more in a MH, so I know he is with me also laughing that I am using my right side mirror. I never used it in the car and he used to get tired of telling me to use it. He is the one who taught me to drive when I was 15 yr old.

Oh Janice, how exciting. I hope your house sells as quickly as my condo (26 days) and you can get on with it. I know it was a tough decison but it sounds as though you are at peace with it. Traveling around in the MH sounds like a good plan especially if you have a fur baby. New owners, even though they may have a fur baby themselves, don't want the idea of pets in the house they are going to buy. What's up with that?

Anyway, good luck!

I realized I had backed myself into a corner by scheduling things too closely together.
So my POD is coming Friday instead of tomorrow, and I backed the contractors up to start
Monday May 4th, rather than Friday. This way I can:

*get the MH to a friend's house,
*pick up the OHV trailer to haul stuff headed to donate or dump,
*ready the house for the painters, plus
*clear out & pack most of the things in my cupboards & closets
*(yeeeek!!) clear out & pack up the garage.

Got boxes today at xpedx & started sorting, packing & cleaning. I'm so relieved
that I don't have to do this in a death march.
