Election Day 216

Postby Colliemom » Tue Nov 08, 2016 7:31 am

Good Morning,

Cloudy and mild here on this Election Day in northern Michigan. I will be heading to the polls later after an appt. at car dealer this morning. We have a large ballot here with state and local offices to fill as well as a millage request.

New carpet on basement stairs is down and new vinyl at front door entrance. Nice to have that done and stairs look really nice. Painting is next on agenda. Couple light fixtures need to be installed yet, but have to wait for neighbor to have some time. No big hurry there.

Hope all of you have a nice day.

The sun is fighting too heavy clouds for any sky color this morning. Yesterday I got my dental work completed. I purchased some meds for Peaches and several tubes of a topical ointment my sister recommended I try for planters fasciitis that's been bothering one of my feet.

I took a rain jacket yesterday, but just like me with umbrellas, left it in the car when I went into Mexico. I got totally drenched getting to my car in the parking lot. I can now say that if that happens wearing a sun dress that bleeds color... expect white underwear to pick up some color :)

Last night the park here held it's monthly birthday/anniversary cake and ice cream social. Yes, I attended. Yum. I am enjoying this small park and the down to earth people here.

I hope, if you haven't already voted, that you do so today.

Good morning gals. Early voted over a week ago because I hate standing in line. Took us longer to fill out the ballot then it did to get it.
Donna I wish I lived closer to you. I love going to church bazaars and you know the money goes to good causes.
Hope everyone has a great day 8-)

Good morning all! Still dark this AM in CA. I voted by mail a couple weeks ago. What an election this has been.

Beth have you tried gel pads in your shoes for the plantar fasciitis. Had that on both heels years ago when I used to walk a lot and it is so painful. Hope you find relief.

Donna, have you considered a school gym instead of a church?

My head's still buzzing from last night, so I won't be heading to the polls for another hour. Drew had his first agility class last night, and he loved it! We did one turn with a few exercises. Then we sat and watched -- and when a GSD worked really fast, Drew was wiggling with impatience and threw his head back and yipped. He wanted to do it too! On our second turn, he did every obstacle and had a grand time. Apparently that is really unusual for the first time -- but oh, we had fun!

So glad Drew is loving his agility classes! That will be fun for both of you!

Drove down to Tucson yesterday to visit an old friend. We went to Tohono Chul for lunch and then walked around the butterfly gardens there. It was very pretty and a perfect day! Had a great conversation.

Unfortunately, didn't have time to see much else down there before heading back. It gets dark so early and I don't want to be on the road after dark. Hopefully, I can get back there this winter and spend more time seeing stuff.

Working later on today. Then two days off. My manager only scheduled me for 3 days this week. Not enough hours. Hopefully, the new manager (who I haven't met yet) will be better at making schedules and getting them out earlier.

Have a good day!

I already sent in my absentee ballot. I am worn out from news, so am going to really try hard not to watch anything with news in it today, at least until this evening. All they do is say the same things over and over again, so I am really tired of it. Watching Smithsonian and Discovery, etc all day. I swear that news programs create a lot of our life stress today.

Beth, I had that several years ago and tried to exercise it out. I remember that it was really painful. Went to orthopedic doctor who told me to stop walking for a while and to do some exercises to stretch my Achilles tendon. Mostly that involved pulling my toes up while seated or standing a couple of feet from a wall and leaning in without bending knees.

Good Morning Everyone !!! Well, went and got propane, like the price here then in Fl :o also went and voted, love living up here, voting was not a mile from my home and met neighbors I didn't know but who informed me along with my neighbors across the road they also keep and eye on my place for me. That was nice to hear, they all seemed to know me, I knew none of them, :( so my day has started off good !! Not to easy getting propane up here have to be up there at 8 and hope all the guys went out from office and one might still be there to pump the gas for me. Lucked out this morning, so now except for one piece of mail I am ready :D The temps are really dropping this week, been really nice so far. Good sleeping during the night, but get chilled easy during the day, have to keep busy :D but that's a good thing

No real news here this morning, just really wanted to tell Beth, its so nice to see you having time to post so often these days. Nice, glad you are enjoying your cg. Time you really relaxed and smelled the roses for awhile and bet Peaches is liking it too. Enjoy your off time, when do you go to your volunteer position?

Need to get moving, like the rest of you, no news on here today, hasn't been for ages, more then sick of it all. Enjoy your day everyone, I'm on to getting the rv ready as I am to go :D Have fingers crossed that that piece of mail will come today, ;) :D

Stay safe, those on the road and those at home, take some time for yourself and enjoy a rest,

I haven't made it to go vote yet. I'm looking for the local paper that explains the amendments. They can word those things so you don't know if you are voting for or against them. We vote at the school that is 3 miles from us and there is never a line that I have seen. Maybe when people get off work.

I rode to Baton Rouge with a friend yesterday. She had to go for work and then we ate at T J Ribs. It's been a long time since I have been to Baton Rouge. We went to the big mall and shopped for a while. I am having a problem with one of my heels and all the walking really irritated it. I am so use to wearing shoes that don't have a back that the ones with the memory foam made my heels sore. The traffic was much worse than I remembered and I-10 had so much traffic all the way to Lafayette. It rained on us going and coming so that didn't help. At least we finally got some rain because we really needed some. Yesterday they were saying 60% chance today but I don't see any rain on the radar unless we get what is in South Texas today.

Louise, sounds like you are having a lot of fun with Drew. Our border collie is hyper focused on cows. These dogs have so much energy that they need a job.

Luckily I haven't been told to lessen my walking. Not walking isn't an option for me. But I'm doing exercises and using this cream and replacing my worn out shoes. I have a tendency to keep comfortable shoes beyond what should be their life expectancy and that's probably partly (or more) to blame. I only have this on one foot, but managed to bruise the ball of my other foot. Ha.

Linda, I'm hoping my new shoes help but will remember your words about gel pads.

Aww, Carol, thanks. I probably have too much time on my hands, but it feels good. I'll start the volunteer position mid-December.

Louise, I just love reading your posts about Drew and his enthusiasm. Such fun.

It's a beautiful sunny day here in northern California. We are permanent absentee ballot princinctmbut will hand carry our ballots to the polling place at 1 ( miss morning rush and noon people hopefully).

Beth, I have had I think two or three bouts of plantar fasciitis. The things that helped me most were: more than one pair of shoes to rotate daily so padding recovers; a 22 oz water bottle frozen to roll my foot over a couple of times a day: a special foam ball I found on amazon to do some exercises I also learned on Internet. I did not find a cream that helped, what type did you get?

Have a great day all!
