Happy Halloween

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Halloween

Postby Colliemom » Mon Oct 31, 2016 7:31 am

Morning,

Tonight's the night all the ghosts and goblins will be out roaming no the streets. I'm sure a number of you have the candy all ready. And I know it's your favorites, so you can eat the leftovers  No trick or treating here. Only a couple families with young children and it's so dark in these rural areas, that many go into town or to the parties in the area. One of the churches here has a big bash with games, food and all kinds of things. Usually draws around 700 kids each year. Then tomorrow we head into November with the holidays ahead, daylight savings time change etc. and some of you making plans for GTG's.

Anita, I'm glad I''m not the only one who loses stuff off my back bumper. Been there done that a number of times. Be doing something and truck just happens to be handy to set something on the bumper. Donna, good luck looking at possible places to base. I thought maybe you were going to travel a bit first before finding a place, but I know that want of having a base to come home too. Beth, I can see you are so enjoying TX. That feeling of freedom of not having to work for awhile. CArol, going to be glad when you get to FL so we can chat once in awhile, miss our talks.

Well, time to get moving here. Banking and couple errands this morning. Getting ready to start painting in house now that weather is getting colder, although this week is going to be mild, so will be outside puttering around. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning to all. I think you'd enjoy the 55+ park. Ours is so quiet and clean and the security is good. No kids in here tonight so didn't buy any candy. I sure don't need to have to eat it.
We will be hitting the road on Thursday...no idea why he picked the middle of the week. Heading to AZ for a couple of weeks then on into Mexico. Just taking our time.
So today is one of those days when we have a lot to do but can't do it because it is all RV stuff. And hopefully our son will send his girls, he owns a cleaning company, on Wednesday so we'll come home to a nice clean house. Don't want to do laundry until Wed. We've done all the errands we needed to do. Maybe today we'll just take a ride around town.
Everyone traveling take care.

I managed to not buy any Halloween candy, YET. lol Walmart usually does a good job of not over stocking so there's usually not a lot on sale after Halloween. We haven't had any trick or treaters in years. There is one neighborhood in town I wouldn't want to live in tonight.

The bumper on my motorhome is flat with the back so can't set anything there. I have looked at it trying to figure out how I could put a pipe to hold my sewer hose. Haven't figured out an easy way to do that. It has a place to put a sewer hose but a hose won't fit with the end attachments so that is useless.

I brought CC in the house this morning and everyone hissed him. Poor CC, no one wants to play with him. Some of the outside cats tolerate him but no one wants to play.

Sue, I never put anything on the bumper, either, so no loss from that, but I HAVE lost two wrenches by putting them on top of the electric post. I use them to tighten the hose since I don't have enough hand strength. Now the good news is that I once pulled into a camping spot and found a wrench almost identical to the two I lost, and right on top of the electrical post! There was no one around to give it to, and I figured the person was long gone, so I took it with me. So, I am only down one wrench, total!

Raining all day here at John Pennecamp. Actually, it has been raining here in the Keys for the past several days, but had been looking forward to a glass-bottom boat tour, but they are cancelled. Been having a few of those tiny sugar ants, but last night there were a bunch and I went nuts when they started crawling on me and my laptop, plus the kitchen. I had put out ant traps, but they weren't helping, so I ended up using a liquid spray down behind my stove and the whole length of that slide, which includes my kitchen and couch. That seemed to stop them, at least for now, but I am picking up some better ant stuff tomorrow. I used borax on the outside the other day, but it has been raining so much I don't think it has helped. At least I started out this Florida trip by stocking up on insect stuff before I left Michigan and Ohio!!

I will be at St. Lucie South Campground at the lock and dam near Stuart, FL, for two weeks. Got a couple of cousins living nearby, so it will be nice to visit them. Stopping on my way north tomorrow to have lunch with another cousin. (I have about 25 living first-cousins, so it is nice to visit them. Five live in Florida.)

Good Afternoon,

Late nap yesterday and then slept 10 hours last night. This park was so quiet when I was here earlier in the month, but now more rigs and more yapping dogs. I pulled up to the gate to register and ranger asked if I wanted the same spot I had before because it was open! SS has some advantages!

The rest of the bumper story - I am very careful about putting things on the bumper because I know I can forget, but it's usually while I am still parked and haven't pulled the slide in. Because I had parked the trailer off-site and had to load the SS there, I had to use the generator to inflate air springs - first time (hopefully last since new compressor will be installed tomorrow). I don't know why I didn't close the generator compartment up when I turned it off. Still kicking myself. My good deed while there tho was to tell a man the back wheels on his car on a tow dolly weren't turning. I have never seen anyone have as much trouble unhooking and hooking a tow dolly (we used to have one) as he did. Perhaps a newbie.

So excited for our Grand Canyon gals! Still can't get over Liz and Diana's Wave hike - just so amazing. Martha, poor CC! JudyJB, do you use Terro liquid ant bait? Steven and I went scuba/snorkeling at Pennekamp - back in 1969! In 2001, the water was so cold one needed a wet suit so we took the glass bottom boat - I wasn't doing a wet suit!

Have a good rest of the day!

Good morning/noontime! Slept in today. Haven't done that for a long time.

I work today from 3 -9 so will miss the trick or treaters. I bought some candy for me the other day and it is almost gone already!

One thing about where I work that I don't like is they don't post the next work schedule until just a few days before that week starts, so I can't plan ahead for anything. My last manager had the schedule made out two weeks in advance which was great. I won't know until Wednesday or Thursday if I have a weekend day off. We are getting a new manager in a couple weeks so maybe that will change.

I would like to find a place to buy (mobile home) and finally call "home" too. I am torn tho between doing that here and my urge to move back to California where I know I could never afford a place to own. I really miss California and the weather and the ocean, and I talked to my previous (and favorite) manager in San Diego the other day and she really wants me back there. I am really tempted to go there in the spring when my lease is up and go back to work for her. I just don't want to have to always live with roommates for ever tho, either. I am already not liking this heat and I know the summers here are long and a lot hotter than this. I have a few months to decide what I want to do...

Supposed to cool off this week so maybe I can spend more time outside now. Yesterday morning I went to sit out by the pool and my roommate let the dogs in while I was out there and locked the door and went back to bed! I didn't know she did that until it started getting too hot out and I went to go back inside. Nope! Both front and back door locked! I had no keys, no phone, no shoes. I knocked on both doors and finally started ringing the doorbell over and over and she finally came down to see what was going on! Whew! Didn't want to get roasted outside all day!

Need to remember to say "RABBITS" after midnight tonight!

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
