The WAVE

Diana (mtngal) and I won the lottery to hike the Wave. I'm behind on blog posts, but here are a couple shots. You can see more on Facebook.

That place is so cool!

Did you have a guide or could you explore on your own?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

We were on our own, however there are guide services available for hire.

Does the lottery have to do with keeping hoards of people from overwhelming the area?

Yes, exactly that...to protect it. And it is pristine...no graffiti or trash that I saw.

20 people a day are allowed. Ten are chosen by online lottery (we tried for that first but lost), and ten are chosen by in-person lottery at the Kanab BLM center.

Wow! Love the pics and how lucky were you! I couldn't get a spot in the lottery when I was there not too long ago.
