Gmorning all:)

Been crazy windy the past few days, thankfully temps are in the 40s-50s, but still too cold to work outside for any length of time. So I've been tearing the house apart!

Sue, glad you've accomplished all you wanted to do to your new home--at least til spring. Catherine, I missed something? You celebrated the closing of your house in KS, or did you buy one in CA? Lyn, congrats on the new GGD! So many happy things happening with our forum family. Crikey, I missed your bday, Sarah  Only one this year? Last year we got you twice, right ;) And happy belated bday to Laura too!

I took HB for a fairly long spin the other day, as his engine was running a bit rough on my last trip. Think I'll get him to a mechanic here in the next week or two. Will be winterizing him since I'm not going anywhere for a while. But yes, Alice, I still plan to go somewhere after Cmas:) Just giving Tigg some time to rest his lungs--he's doing so much better, & I've even stopped giving him benadryl. So now he's just on heart med, bronchial dilator, & lasix. He's such a good boy about wearing his diaper at night:)

Need to make a run to WM this a.m., so best get going so I don't get caught in the after church crowd. Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good Morning Carolb and all,

Carol, same kind of weather here, temps in 40's and low 50's,but not stopping us from working outside. If it hadn't been so breezy yesterday, I would have been out blowing leaves. But I joined what seemed like half the state, out looking at the last of the fall color here. Lot of traffic on the roads yesterday. There is a scenic lookout about 20 miles from here that looks out over a valley, that is a extremely popular in fall. You can see as far as the eye can se from up there. There were a lot of people up there despite the 40 degree weather and a cooler wind chill. The young and the old, even the infirm and that place is not handicapped accessible. It has a grade going up that is all dirt as is the road, but people were up there with canes, wheelchairs etc., determined with the help of family and friends, to see the colors and the views.

It is past peak color here now and almost all my leaves are down. May or may not blow some this afternoon, but some showers predicted. Guess there were some snow flurries around yesterday morning too. Also plan to make stuffed peppers for dinner as picked up some beautiful ones at the farmers market yesterday and will freeze the rest. Also have meat to package and freeze as well as butternut squash to cook and freeze. Putting away for winter like the squirrels

Time to head off to mass and quick trip to store. And I too missed Sarah and Laura's birthday. Hope they were good days for you and you can celebrate all year :) Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

Mornin' ladies and all who follow ~~~
Beautiful fall day today in Chitown area. Upper 60's for temps and then a cold front moving in this afternoon. I still need to get Colt covered, hopefully Dad will be available today, last week his garage door spring broke so he was stuck in the house until Monday. That meant no 3 trips to Micky D's like he usually does during the day to meet up with different groups of 'the old guys'. :D

I had to take a me day yesterday because of so many things I need to do, so Ma just had to understand that I couldn't entertain her yesterday. Finally got a new vacuum. Knew I needed one for a long time, but when I realized I still see dog hair after vacuuming, I had to break down and spend the $$$. What a difference! Also found new some new glasses at Pearle, with the Rx from my eye doctor, to replace the ones in the truck (bifocals, transitions, etc) since the ones I had were so beaten up they couldn't be straightened anymore. Probably time, they were about 5 years old and take a beating when I'm outside. Other errands today (after Colt's cover (fingers crossed) will be to find some new black shoes for work, leave messages for some peeps to plow my driveway this winter (getting too old for this $_it :( , and cutting the grass. Can't believe it's the end of October and I'm still cutting! At least the other fall yard chores are done (bushes, cutting down perennials, etc).

My project from H-E double hockey sticks is finally getting some action (yea we'll see). Have finally spoke to 2 VP's and 2 different directors at the vendor company and they are pushing to get things fixed so we can get up and running - a year late so far! And it should be no surprise to anyone, that has ever dealt with the government in any way, shape or form, the problem is - - - wait for it - - - TAXES!

So that's the update from around here. Congrats on the new great grand Lyn. Ava hope you are slacking off at work - what would they do? Fire you! Barbie you better start posting some trip pics. I'm waiting patiently for the Rt 66 pics (NOT!). Can't remember everything else I've read.

Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Another rough night last night--my third in a row. I have about 20 mosquito bites in various stages, but nearly all are sore and itchy. They are not little red spots, but big red lumps, a couple as big as a dime. I've been taking Benadryl before I go to bed and a couple of times during the day, but I end up waking up around 4 am with stinging and itching bites. Last night I even took half of a vicodin before bed. I bought several over-the-counter topical pain and itch relievers, but they don't seem to help much. Some of the bites are 5 days old and I keep hoping they will finally go away.

So at 4 am last night, I got up and grabbed a tube of prescription-strength cortisone and gave that a try, along with another half vicodin. I ended up sleeping until 11 am, but I had been up almost two hours last night. The cortisone seems to be helping more than the other stuff, but I wish there was something else. I refuse to go to the emergency room for mosquito bites. And you can imagine that I am staying indoors most of the time, except tomorrow I am headed to Key West for the day. Will bring along lots of repellant!! I know Florida always has mosquitos, but I hope the cooling trend will continue and reduce the numbers.

I hate to hear that some of you are winterizing already!! I am really glad I don't have a sticks and brick home to have to care for, but I can see why some of you like to have that home base.
