in the past some of you have mentioned buying a foam pad (thick) to replace your mattress
what company have you ordered it from?

I think Mitch has gotten foam mattresses that she liked. Check with her.

Our bus had a queen bed and it would have meant cutting up the mattress, springs included to get it out, so we bought a queen sized memory foam pad from Costco amd it's been great. The van is another story because it's a sofa that becomes a bed. We tried memory foam but it was a pain to store. So we got air mattresses to cover the bed and can easily be stored. They came with a pump. Two twin sized fits the space. We sleep on a air bed a Sleep Number at home so it works for us.

I bought a 4" thick foam mattress (Minnesund is the model) for around $90 at Ikea and put it on top of my bed (which is a sofa that I keep permanently open). I did not get memory foam, since I was told that it can get rather warm.

..
The foam I bought when I first got the new trailer was better/denser foam for the dinette (which I LOVE).

I do not think I could stand the heat generated by a foam bed...
Wish someone would invent an air conditioned mattress pad.

Colliemom got some new foam for her trailer from a company in MI. Send her a pm and she'll give you the info. I also got new foam cushions for my dinette, can't remember where I got the foam tho. They cut it to my specs and shipped it to me.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

I have 2" memory foam on both of my sofas in my motorhome. I have 2 electric sofas that make beds. I don't have room to store the memory foam so I just leave the foam and sheets on the sofa and put it up to sit on. Not the neatest look but works for me. I have memory foam on my beds at home too and I don't find them hot.

Even with the memory foam, sleeping on the sofa is a killer. My trips are usually only 3 or 4 days and that's about all my back and hips can stand.

My rig came with a memory foam mattress, but the first time I slept on it I woke up with a terrible backache. So I got a gel memory foam topper from Costco and it's been great. I was sleeping better in my rig than on the very expensive mattress I bought for my home. So I bought another gel memory foam topper to put on top of the home mattress and now it's great too. I was also afraid that memory foam would be hot, but I haven't experienced that with the gel memory foam.

I tried memory foam toppers from Walmart ( they come in 2" and 4", if memory serves) which some have had luck with. I finally just bought a 13" thick memory foam mattress from Sam's Club and replaced the mattress. I had room to replace the RV Queen with an actual Queen (which is longer) which was a 2nd plus in my book. Liked it so much I bought a 2nd one for the house.

Melissa with your mattress (the original one in the 5th Wheel) did it over hang the platform that it sits on?
can't remember priced out a mattress the other day and if it fits would work
we also put a memory foam topper on the mattress when we first got it...and slept well but for some reason
it was really worn so was going to replace it then friends gave me this I wish I still had the old one
thanks for the information

I don't remember, I think it over hung the platform like an inch or something. The new one is a regular queen which is 6" longer than a standard RV queen so it over hangs about 7". We don't sit on the end of the bed and there is no wall there so it does not really matter other that keeps my feet from hanging off the end. When I tilted (4" higher at head) the platform to help with my acid reflux I thought about extending the platform to support the end of the mattress but its never really been an issue.

RV Queen: 60" x 75"
Standard Queen: 60" x 80"
