Friday mid October already!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday mid October already!

Postby carolb » Fri Oct 14, 2016 5:09 am

Gmorning all :)

Time flying by! And our first hard freeze warning for tonight. Bro still covering our pepper plants--they're doing wonderfully this year & he hates to lose them. I have a couple of new perennials I planted 2-3 weeks ago, so those will be covered too, since it's to be back to 70/80 deg after this weekend which will give them more time to get roots established.

Alice, getting your medicare card! Hooray:) Barbie, job sounds promising--didn't take long. Can't remember all else that's going on--oh yes, a 50th reunion for Velda? or who? Yikes, I haven't been good at keeping up with all of you

Wish y'all could see Tigg:) He's been "leaking" at night due to lasix, so it's diaper time. Tried several types, but ended up with a "wrap," which kept slipping off his butt. So I made suspenders for it! He looks like Mickey Mouse  (except Tigg's "shorts" are blue)...

All else is fine here, hope the same for all of you! Have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Mornin' Carol and all who follow ~~~

Aw poor Tigg. The things we do for our little furries. Well if he's looking like Mickey, you have his Halloween costume all ready

Not much happening here. Still catching up on emails @ work from the vaycay. I get thru 10 and receive 20 more :!: It's a vicious cycle.

Have a good day ladies and stay safe wherever you are.

Good Morning!

I feel like I should be headed further south but so many things going on! Since niece's family didn't come to stay in cabin last weekend due to weather, they are coming tonight - just made the decision. Fun! Lunch tomorrow with new SS friends at their home about 1 1/2 hours from here. Took trailer in for electrical repair yesterday and waiting to hear I can pick it up. I move Monday to be near the Blue Ridge Parkway but will come back here the 30th. The SS forum has 'adopted' one of the guy's daughters who is returning from Kandahar - party for her and famly November 5. Then I'll head south to be in Clearwater, FL the 10th for SS Santa Toy Run.

Velda, so glad you are going to your 50th reunion. Mine was fun but were people I either didn't recognize or couldn't remember their name!! Should have looked at an annual before going. Cheryl, your catching up after vacation sounds like how I felt after being gone a month! My poor buddy Tigg!! Alice, welcome to Medicare!

Make it a great day and be safe!

Mostly loaded in the rig and waiting to bath two dogs and shower myself before heading up the road for a weekend of dog showing in Urbana, Ohio. The kids are entered the next three weekends just here in Ohio. So you know where we will be. I am thinking of heading out to different state in November at least for one weekend. The numbers required for majors are much more realistic if I get out of Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky. :) So I may do a little of that.

It is a bit chilly out there in the mornings but the days are expected to warm up comfortable like. The colors are getting better every day! Still haven't decided when to head south for good. I am not a good planner. I would get a lot more done if my left brain would kick back in more often. I made it work very hard at work for many years even when it didn't want to and now I sense it giving paybacks.

The following poem was framed next to the door of my dorm room in college. My left brain really had to work hard even back then to rein my wandering spirit in..... :)

"I Meant to Do My Work Today"
by Richard Le Gallienne

I meant to do my work today
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling to me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand -
So what could I do by laugh and go?

Love that poem, Tina! And it's so much easier to give in to serendipity now that we are retired. You will know when to head south, so enjoy the fall days...I know Stuart will.

Good morning
Nothing on the agenda, just hanging out and doing a little
work in the shed, the yard and what ever else strikes my
fancy.
Y'all have a great day, be safe

Great poem! I haven't been doing much lately. However, nice things happening around me. Third great-grand child (little girl) born yesterday. Separated grand-son spending lots of time visiting with his mother, my daughter. Seeing her happy does my heart good. And, widowed daughter dating a wodower she met at her hiking club! All good news. Good Morning Everyone !! I also loved the poem, suitable for many of us. I go to bed thinking of what I want to do next day and it all gets changed around majority of the time, if play is on the agenda, work is totally forgotten  Have another camping planned at a COE CG down in Ga. Most are nearing closing time, will meet friends down there.

My bathroom floor is in except for linoleum, then shower and toilet can all be reset. I had a very small water leak around toilet, never showed wet or felt wet and been there doing its thing for sometime slowly seeping under padding to shower area. When shower flooring weakened enough that's when I found I had a serious problem. Shower sunk !!

My Fl grandson came for a visit first of the week, my son called me early yesterday morning which was his birthday, so happy doings going on around here, along with life  ( the repairs and ALL these falling leaves)

Leaves are a huge chore from now until I leave for the winter months. Don't like to leave them on decks for any amount of time and I have many to fall yet.

Ok breaks over, hope you all have a good day and stay safe Please ,

Haven't posted for a couple of days. Warning to those heading south--Florida is still hot and sticky! From my perspective, worst are nights, which are hot. I am in Marathon Key and the low last night was 79. Supposed to have a low of 75 tonight. I have a terrific site at Bahia Honda overlooking the water and Overseas Highway Bridge.

I drove RV into Marathon yesterday to see the turtle hospital, but could not park anywhere I wanted to go, so I ended up parking at KMart and then riding my bike to turtle hospital and grocery store. Will be here another five days but then will be north of Marathon at Curry Hammock SP, and Enterprise will pick me up from there, so will rent a car for six days and head to Key West for a day. Today and tomorrow will be indoor days so I can get work done.

Blog is updated, so check it out. Turtle hospital was well worth the entrance fee!

Oh, and Carol, one of my favorite places in Georgia is the "Old Federal" COE campground at Lake Lanier. Love, love, love site 45 because it is open for satellite but at the base of a small peninsula so you can see lake on both sides. Lots of good wooded sites, however, and almost all are right on the lake with good views.

Good morning! As tired as I have been, I wake up around 6am and can't get back to sleep. Still on Central Standard time I guess.

Yesterday I drove up to Fountain Hills. I had heard good things about it but was disappointed. First of all, the fountain was not going so it looked like just another little lake. The town wasn't anything to brag about either so I didn't stay long. Luckily, it wasn't a very long drive and got me out of the house for awhile.

Today I will be going to the GC's shop and doing some haircuts on a mannequin. Need to also get more organizing done in my room. Sounds like I won't be able to start working until maybe the end of next week til I get my license in the mail. If not, I might drive up to Prescott area for a day and check that out. I am not a city girl and feel a little overwhelmed with all the traffic, malls, etc all around me. Hoping to eventually find a little quieter area to settle down in.

Still feeling "off" (anxious, down in the dumps, etc), but am hoping now that I am back on my meds, that I will start feeling better by the end of the weekend and back to my old cheery self!

Hope those in the northwest hunker down for the big storm and stay safe!

I got the job! More money per hour than I expected so that is good! Need to take the state class on Monday and will start the following week when I get my license.

Now I need to go shopping for a gothic wardrobe! All black! We can wear colored accessories so will stock up on colorful flower clips for my hair and matching earrings!

Love the poem, Tina. Congrats on the job Barb and glad to read you are going camping Carol and repairs almost finished (can't work all the time).

I've spent most of past two days trying to get thru boring task of reviewing 2017 Medicare and Blue Cross changes for next year. Some of my prescription copays are going up dramatically. Other task has been doing software updates on laptop and iPad - yes, I had fallen behind on doing that earlier.

Had MRI of head this week for doctor to see if can find reason right side sinus won't drain properly. No results yet.

Weather pretty nice - a bit warmer than normal and we are in a bad drouth situation. Trees under so much stress leaves are mostly turning brown and starting to fall with developing nice color.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!
