Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday

Gmorning all :)

Crikey, been waiting for someone else to open since I can't think of a catchy subject line  Maybe mention Columbus Day Sunday? Hope y'all are having a good three-day weekend. Of course, it's probably more like a real labor day for Floridians. Hope y'all are safe.

Barbie, congrats on the arrival to your new home & life. You'll love our Alice :D Hope you two gtg soon & often, although I do know the area & you're actually quite a distance away. Alice, prepping for retirement can cause anxiety :(

Cool weekend here, but I did get some yardwork done. House is torn apart as I delve into some deep fall cleaning. Overnight with bro & sil went well. Thought about going on for another night or two, but thought I'd better stick to projects at home.

Ok, y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Chilly Sunday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Sun Oct 09, 2016 8:11 am

Morning everyone,

Chilly here, in mid 30's. should be a fairly nice day. We are heading for mid October this week and have yet to have a frost, especially a killing one. Unusual for that. Fall color is coming in and should be getting pretty by later this week. Even that's two weeks behind.

Am watching the aftermaths from Matthew. Such widespread flooding in NC and VA. They are showing live water rescues on the Weather Channel. Very long lasting hurricane. Now heading out to sea. Going to be a long cleanup. Sad for those families who loved st loved ones. Those heading south on I-95 are going to be hard pressed to find overnight accommodations with all the water, once the road reopens.

Speaking of clean up. I actually cleaned house yesterday  Even the stuff on the kitchen table is gone. Put a bulletin board up on the hallway wall coming into kitchen and tacking important stuff up there, since it's my entrance/laundry etc.hall.

Not sure what's on agenda for today. Probably some yard cleanup. Also need to make some new covers for my shrubs to keep snow weight off them. But right now it's time to get dressed and go get a Sunday paper. Have a good day and keep safe.

Morning, all! I had a very exhausting day yesterday. Left campground at 6:30 am and had to drive from Seminole Lake from northeast of Tallahassee to drop my friend off at Jacksonville Airport--210 miles. Then I drove all the way to Lake Louisa State Park northeast of Orlando, for a total of 410 Miles, which is a world's record for me!

There was damage along I-95, but the biggest problem was power outages and long lines for gas. No problems west of Jacksonville and maybe 20 miles west of I-95. There are convoys of utility trucks from all over the place so I expect some of this will be fixed soon. Also, some of the state parks are open, even if it does not look like it on Reserve America, so you need to call ahead, and focus on campgrounds NOT directly on the coast. I am headed to Jonathan Dickinson, which like all the state parks is walk-in only today. Can get reservations in most places tomorrow.

Anyway, I did three loads of sheets and towels laundry last night and have a couple more to do today at Dickinson. Nice that Florida state parks have washers and dryers. It has been quite an adventure, but I will have to say that for a city girl, my friend makes a great camper! She learned how to handle the systems and took very short showers, which was very helpful.

Good morning
Had a great visit with Barbie yesterday and I'm sure
we'll get to do a few things in between work schedules
as those play out over the next few months. My agenda
for today is to get the back yard raked and weeded and
make room for the little trailer. Its out front right now
but I keep worrying about someone messing with it, although
its not likely to happen here, I would still feel better to
push it to the back yard.
I still need to dust but y'all know how that goes, if you disturb
it, you have to do it all and then it pisses off the spiders and
they come back with a vengeance.
Still thinking about painting on my week off, but its still in
that thinking stage. Maybe I'll save that for those weeks after
retirement when I'm waiting for my RV funds to show up.
Oh ya, that's a good idea.
Ok, mind has gone blank, lol and I've got nothing else for ya.
Have a great day, be safe.

Good morning!

Hours and hours of rain, but it has stopped at last. Still have wind and luckily, for once, I'm not parked sideways to it. My Storm Shield app sent alerts to my phone - 2 of them after I was asleep. Lots and lots of standing water in the park. I haven't checked Matthew reports yet this morning. Realized my holiday reservations are at COE parks and not State Parks.

Barbie, so glad you reached your destination and got to meet Alice! Catherine, hope the closing goes as planned. Donna, glad to hear your dad's house is okay.

Seems my Keurig has decided to go on the fritz! I had cleaned it just before I left on the big trip, but it is barely 'dribbling' water. :(

Weather should be better tomorrow. Planning to meet my niece's family at a pumpkin patch near Richmond - probably better take my mud shoes! Time to get out warmer clothes as well!

Make it a great day and be safe!

The kids are here -- they both have colds, so we're having a quiet afternoon between bursts of activity. So nice just to hang out with them. :)

Just hanging out in bed with Lola this morning. Will be getting things unpacked and put away today.

Still reeling from the news of my former co-worker and friend being possibly murdered this past week. (wrote more about that on yesterdays MC). She was such a sweet gal!

I had to buy a steering wheel cover yesterday because I got into my car after visiting with Ava and burned my hands on the wheel! Ouch! So now I have a nice soft memory foam cover on it! And a windshield screen. Also need to get a humidifier for my room.

Carol, actually Ava is just 15 minutes away. We are both just a block or so off the 101 freeway, so it is a quick drive from here to there.

I can see the lake here from my bedroom window. Is so nice to look out and see trees and water in the desert!

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I made it home from Texas. I always have so much fun with these women. There were about 45 there. I thought about stoping at the lake and spending the night. My sister wasn't feeling well and I was tired so came home. We couldn't have ask for better weather. It got a little cool last night and Friday night. Good thing I keep a couple of jackets in my camper all the time. I could have used my flannel PJ's too. Friday night we went to a musical at a theater in town. It was 4 women singers called Shake, Rattle and Roll. That was the best $10 worth of entertainment I have had in a long time. Good singers and very funny.

Judy, glad you could get your friend to the air port. They were saying that 4,500 flights had been canceled along the East Coast because of the storm. She got a real dose of camping. The weather channel says Mathew has move back into the Atlantic but I haven't seen any predictions about what it might do now.

Annie Boo had been on high since I got home. She is still flying around here like a ding bat.
