Sunny Sunday...

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday...

Postby grammynmaggie » Sun Sep 25, 2016 8:29 am

Good morning everyone I haven't been here for a while and you all know why... let me just say I've been living a nightmare for the last 4-5 weeks... I am hoping the Nightmare part is over now I just have to get on with business cleaning out my dad's house getting it ready for estate sale and putting it up for sale... this will take me quite a while... I'm hoping to have it done and up for sale by January ...doing it alone makes it hard... so I have to get my stuff out of here probably into storage because I can't even think about where I want to go or what I want to do at this point so that will be my life for the next several months... but I do have some camping trips plans that were already paid for so I will be doing those and maybe squeeze one in every once in awhile a new place to overnight anyway everybody have a good one....donna

Good Morning, Donna (and all who follow). Sounds like it's all a bit overwhelming right now. First, take a deep breath. It WILL work out. And enjoy those outings you have planned! Hang in there.

Be kind to yourself, Donna. You've had a really hard time these last few months. Take time to recover.

Have you thought of hiring an estate sale agency to take care of the house contents? I've known people who did that, and it was a huge burden off their backs.

Good Morning, This is 'supposed' to be the last day of summer like weather and next week highs in 70's and low in 40's !!!! I'm trying to get Andy to eat but it becomes more of a challenge everyday. This morning he has on his breakfast plate, cooked ground chuck with rice, canned (no salt) peas and a bit of Zighnature Kangaroo canned food. Nope, not interested. I have 4 pills I give him AM and PM and he really needs to eat something. He has also started waking me earlier and earlier in the mornings. I love the little guy dearly but not sure who is going to hold up the longest.

Donna I wish there was someone there to help you. Have you met any ladies at the church who might be able to suggest someone you could hire or to do some fun things with to give you some diversion? Hopefully your Dad left a will and unless you are the sole beneficiary, can't some who are to share in the estate assist or send you money to hire someone? A friend of mine just bought a place completely furnished in FL He was happy not to have to move his furniture, kitchen items etc. Also if you are having an estate or tag sale who ever you hire should be able to offer help or advice. Just a few thoughts but sounds as though you need a plan. Oh, and there are several over 55 parks there where it is really inexpensive to live. I know you don't like FL heat but maybe you could travel summers and go back to a home base there during the winter. You don't have to pay taxes on modular homes there but you do have to by a yearly tag. Take a deep breath and take your time.

Heading out soon to a inside farmers market in a bit. They start at 11:00 severing lunch and adult beverages. They have live music and it is just a fun way to spend some time on Sunday. I have always found Sundays to be long boring days, even if I go to church.

I left Michigan this morning after a quick hosing off of the motorhome at a coin car wash. It really feels good to be on the road again, especially since I got my storeroom of furniture emptied. Going to make a stop in Kentucky to visit a cousin, but otherwise heading for Florida.

Good morning!
Donna, as the others have said, be kind to yourself. You've been through a lot lately. If you have a realtor in mind for the house they might be able to recommend someone who does estate sales. If you end up doing it yourself, just tackle one room or closet at a time - start with the easiest one & gradually you'll get it done. Enjoy the outings you already have planned - you'll need some time off once in a while.

It's going to be a hot one today out here - I've closed the windows but hopefully won't have to turn on the a/c until later today.

Just being lazy today - finally. :)

Enjoy the day.

Donna, I agree about letting others do the work. If you can go through and collect anything you and anyone else in the will might want personally, the estate people can organize everything else for the sale. It's often a part of their cost anyway, and if it's extra, I bet it would be worth it.

Judy, have fun and safe travels. Before two weeks are up, I'll also be on the road again. Yippee!!! I love this area so summers are nice, but I'm not intending to work this winter and going to relax and be a bum ... really looking forward to it.

Donna, yes, just take one day at a time. Either an estate sale or if he doesn't have much that is worth a lot, you can call 1-800-gotjunk and they will come out with a truck and take everything you don't want. The camping trips will be good for you to take small breaks in between dealing with the house stuff. Take care of yourself! Your future plans will work themselves out in the right time.

I had my last day at work today. Got a call from my dad's renter (at the shop, not on my cell phone) saying there was an emergency and he and my dad were having a huge fight. We were swamped at work and I was in the middle of a haircut so I told him to call the police. Then I get a call from the police department. The cop starts giving me a hard time about how we aren't dealing with this lottery situation with our dad and that they are sick and tired of coming out to the house all the time for these so called "emergencies". He said not to call them again unless an actual crime has been committed. I gave him a piece of my mind!

I am SO done with all this BS! If I had any doubts left about moving, I don't anymore! Can't get to Arizona fast enough! And I am changing my phone number as soon as I get there, maybe sooner!

Anyways, I am done with work now and it is crunch time for packing up and heading out!

Gees, we hit a high of 99 today! Last high 90s day per weather man. When fall like temps arrive on Wednesday, I'll probably be cold. Maybe the first time in months my AC gets a rest.
Good advise from others, Donna. Take your time and plenty of breaks.
Barbie - so sorry about all you are dealing with but just keep thinking about being gone soon
