Decor

Hello Ladies,
Is is just me, or is the decor of 99.99% of RV's (regardless of brand) just downright ugly? Brown...black...tan...blahhhhh! Some I have seen have the tackiest patterns for accent. So, here is my question: what did you do to personalize and perk up the decor of your RV? I simply find them geared to "male" tastes and certainly not feminine. Thanks for any input and pictures you care to share.

I agree with you about the typically dull interiors. So far I have not changed mine but we do have some talented ladies who have created more inviting spaces.

But I also think back when the RV manufacturers were using teals, light blues and some shades of pinkish? Those always looks so odd and dated, worn and dirty when I used to walk in older used MH. I will take the blah neutrals anytime and add colors of my choice. But then I have multiple dogs and the tan and brown work well to blend in a lot of dog hair. :)

I have seen some new ones that are so dark inside with dark browns and black all over. That would be so dark and depressing for me to be in especially on dark rainy days! I would rather have a light, bright interior.

I've seen some that had the cabinets painted white instead of just the wood look. I liked it.

I'm one who likes the neutral palette. I can then throw in colors where ever and however I want.

Linda ought to pop in her she has done from what I understand a lot of interior decorating
I choose mine for the wall space that I could put pictures on...we put a border over the border now I need to
either redo it or something as it has come off in places and when we put the border on didn't remove the "curtains" so when
I got rid of them (not that I've replaced them yet  ) could see some of the original border...I want to paint haven't yet
I want to do something with the carpet
I actually think the more neutral makes it easier to make it your own

We eventually removed the carpet from the living area (not bedroom) and replaced with vinyl, put light colored wallpaper over the dark walls and reupholstered the dinette cushions in a much brighter pattern and since the shades were breaking, replaced those. It's much more mine now. I think somewhere in the past i posted pics in the "show off your rig".

I don't like a dark space unless it's strictly for sleeping. But there's always paint!

I remember the ones from probably the 70's that had orange and brown. The cabinets and walls in my motorhome are white. It's such a small space that I think dark wall and cabinets would make it feel like a cave. The sofa, seats, carpet and counter top are blue. That probably wouldn't work for some but I like blue.

Thank you so much for the replies. Many of y'all voiced what I feel...so dark, so gloomy, so cave-like. I can well understand how older RVs with lighter colors would become rather shabby with time. Is there a company that would let the buyer choose the upholstery fabric (at additional cost) and flooring? Many offer lighter cabinet colors. It is just confusing that at the cost of many RVs, there is so little input from the consumer as to decor. Thank you all so much.

There are some companies that will let you special order and pick things like the floor plan, cabinets and fabric and maybe the flooring. They will have several combinations of fabrics. It's not like you get a big choice. When you special order one I kind of doubt you would get any kind of a deal on the price. If you can sew you can cover things like the dinette cushions and the window valances. I would hope to have a solid color sofa because I have seen some that the print is way too busy.

If you want to special order directly from the factory, there's probably a lot of input you could have.

we have a sister who hasn't been on for ages but she specifically ordered her rv from the bottom to the top
would imagine that included the decor as well...I don't remember the name of the company though
