Any Disneyland Suggestions?

Postby monik7 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 5:47 pm

Monday I'm heading out toward Disneyland. I'll be there on Wednesday. I would love to take a grandkid or two along, but as some of your know, my daughter won't allow them to ride in the RV. If they could, I would have tried to schedule it for sometime in the summer. But that would have been a problem because she keeps them scheduled constantly so that they wouldn't be available even if they could come with me.

So, I'll be there alone. I haven't been there for a long time, but decided to go this year to remember the first time I went as a kid when the park had been open a year. The park is also celebrating 60 years. While I love all the rides (Indiana Jones is my favorite), I have this problem with not wanting to stand in line alone. I keep imagining what the people would be thinking about that old lady in line alone for the wild rides. I know I spend too much time thinking about what others think, but that's just me.

So, does anyone have any suggestions as to what an old lady can do alone for a day in Disneyland?

Smile and strike up a conversation with others in line as you wait to enjoy those wild rides. Have fun!

Agree with Liz plus who cares what others think. Most people will be busy with their own agendas anyway!! Have fun - that's what you are going for.

My sister has been wanting us to go to Disney World for a while. Since she has had one knee replacement and is scheduled for another one, I think that ship has sailed. I have been 3 times with my boys and I would like to go one time without a kid. I don't think I could do all that walking.

It's a shame you daughter is keeping your grandkids from you. Don't worry about what anyone thinks. Just go and have fun. My tip of the day, don't ride any ride that has auto seat belts. lol

OH, and stop referring to yourself as an old lady. Be a kid again, at least for the day.

Been there, done that several times, people really don't care! For all they know you are with someone who doesn't want to ride that ride. Find out which rides have a single rider line and get in it. Really everyone is focused on their own experience. Have fun!! Wish I'd known, I'd have gone with you!

I've been to Disney World several times by myself and really enjoyed myself. Yes, you might feel a little awkward at first, but I can assure you that no one else will notice. So, just go and have fun!

No Lyn, I won't be able to make it down your way. The PA park there excludes Fridays and Saturdays. I can't delay until after the weekend because I need to be back home for my RA infusion the week after. I hope I'll be able to get there someday. I've heard so much about your tours.

Thanks for your suggestions ladies. We'll see how it goes.

Sandi, have you looked into having your infusions at alternate locations? There is a woman RVer named Tammy who has Celiac and gets those same infusions. She has figured out how to get them in all sorts of locations as she travels the US. I can dig up the name of her site if you want to read about her and contact her about how she gets that to happen.

Thanks Velda for your suggestion. I'm not sure how that would work since I belong to Kaiser. There would have to be a Kaiser facility nearby, but I don't even know whether that would work. In the past they've said I have to get my infusions where my rheumatologist practices. They don't make it easy. Whenever I want to travel I have to take my appts. into account and make sure I'm home. Sure causes scheduling problems and cramps my style.

Sandi, there are several Kaiser facilities in the greater L.A. area. I wonder if a phone call to your primary location would help.

Not sure what your schedule is, but if you're available for dinner on Wednesday I might be able to work something out. On a good day I'm about 30 minutes from Disneyland, and I think Catherine is between there and me. Could actually have a mini-GTG! Send me a PM if you'd be interested.
