Saturday Already!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday Already!

Postby Colliemom » Sat Sep 10, 2016 7:15 am

Morning,

Pat, thanks for starting coffee yesterday, nice to see your post as I always enjoy reading them. Bronc sure is a cute cowboy and going to be a handsome one at that. He's growing up so fast. Peggy, nice to see you too and am glad you are doing so well. Beth, what are your plans for this fall and winter after you are done working?

Can't believe it's going to be middle of Sept. in a few days already. Seems like it was just Labor Day. Course I've been busy all week, so time flies. Spent all day yesterday hauling and spreading out the last of a 2 1/2 yard pile of dirt and then hauling a few loads of pine needles, shredded leaves etc., from under the trees in front corner of yard to my dump pile. So my lawn tractor was busy yesterday. Got a few more little spots to throw some dirt over and had s done. Covering up areas where trees and bushes were removed as well as holes where paver stones had been that I removed. Rain on today's forecast, so I'm taking today off :) But next year will only have to just maintain the yard.

Might be a camping trip next weekend. Will know for sure toward latter part of week. Friends going to U.P., so may go camp as well. Going to be cool, in the mid 60's, but nice weather expected.

Right now am heading for a shower and then giving said friends a call and see if they are going to be home. Time for a visit.
Have a nice and safe day everyone.

Good morning ladies
Doing a lot of catching up on chores this weekend. If I have time
and energy I'll do more research on a place to move the fifth wheel.
I really need to take the car in and get the ac charged professionally.
The place, and very reputable service place down the street won't
touch it because I did it myself a few times over the summer. Seems
they claim the canned stuff you buy at AutoZone contains sealers
that ruins their equipment. Didn't buy that kind, but the guy argued
with me that it all contained sealers. Soooooo, I'll call around and
keep the history part out of the equation. The dealer can do it for $179,
but a service place is half that. That's actually my biggest to do thing
today. Yesterdays heat pretty much wiped me out.Needless to say
I'm sick of summer.
Research over this past week has also drawn a conclusion as to why
that motor home I've kept my eye on for so long and it hasn't sold,,,,
could be the engine in it. V10 was a bad engine prior to 2005, and this
one is 2004. Not really an issue if I get it cheap enough to spend the
money to replace it. Course it would all be mute if I just win the
lottery and buy a 2017  We're gonna dream, might as well dream
big, hehehe Guess I should buy a lottery ticket, cause ya can't
win if ya don't play, but then, on the other hand, if ya don't play,
you don't lose.
Ok, its starting to get daylight. Enjoy your day.

Good Morning all, Sue, I hope you can get away this weekend and rest up! Sounds like you could use a few days R & R. I loved the picture of our favorite little cowboy!! Did you take any pictures of him in the parade Pat?
It was raining here when I got up but think it has stopped so I need to get in gear to go to the Farmers Market. The fish guy is bringing Halibut again from Alaska!

Ava your research about the V10 engine caught my attention. Did it say why the V10 is bad? A good friend of mind is looking at a 1997 Chinook Concourse and it has the V10 engine in it. He brought it by for me to look at and drive yesterday. Looks great, upholstery has been kept covered and it drove well. I had noticed a bit of anti freeze smell as I walked around it. When I was driving I noticed the heat gauge was creeping up. Also the man selling it has a second small generator that he carries inside that he uses when he makes short stops like at a Walmart. I can't understand the why he uses a second generator as the original one works fine or why he would carry it inside, I could smell gasoline back by the bathroom so guess it was in a closet :o . My friend is going to take it to his mechanic and have the local RV place check it for leaks etc. I also told him to have all the tires looked at and check the age. I so want this to work as my friend isn't going to be able to travel much longer and this unit is in his price range.

Good Morning Everyone !!! Oops !! just checked watch and its just noon, oh well, just checking in and wanted to tell Pat, that little cowboy is adorable. Made me remember my big cowboy out west, I have pictures of him in his hat , need to get them out and enjoy them again. Enjoy, as time passes so fast, my grandson is 27 now. You sure have a real cutie there, going to be one of those handsome cowboys we all like looking at :D

Nothing new here, my friend came and went, she had limited time, trying to make it back well before a doctor appointment she has in Az. We had a good time together, we always do. In spite of the inconvenience of no water, it was a nice visit. We checked the new casino out that we now have in this area. I haven't been into many but didn't really seem like a fun place to go to me. We had thought we would check it out and then have a nice meal there. Well, they don't have a restaurant, they have 3 fast food places, nothing appealing to us. So at least I know about it now. We went to another place here, Rib Country, great food and I loved the interior, plenty to look at while waiting for our food, which really didn't take that long.

My sis has had her surgery on her arm , they found her shoulder was also broken. She was home next day, she has plenty of care there and home help coming to change bandages etc. Her dh had his surgery on his aorta aneurism yesterday, this had to be done before chemo or radiation treatments, it was 5 times size they usually allow them to get, dangerous, but he has never really been a person to go to a dr and he's always felt healthy he says. Getting pneumonia, couple of months ago, hopefully has saved his life. Haven't heard if he is home yet.

Plenty going on with all my family but not much here other then I am packing up. Hoping my guy will show up, he had a job last week that he had to clean rat infestation out before repairs and he didn't wear a mask, smart guy  , anyway, he had been sick a couple of days after but came here to try to help me but still feeling rotten and saying he would be back the next day, I have not heard from him. Sooooooooo

Getting low on water here, rv needs to have tank filled, so I'm planning on Monday going down to a Nat'l forest CG that has water and a neat place I've driven through and always thought I would stay, well, its seems this is the time for that stay. Need hair shampooed etc. and so need that tank filled :D Thinking Monday would be no problem getting a spot, as its not a very large CG and right near many water activities surely very busy over the week ends.

Need to get moving, enjoy your week end, hope some fun has been included,
Stay Safe,
CArol

I can't believe it's 102 this morning. I thought we were suppose to have a cool front coming in.

My previous motorhome was on the Ford E-350 chase. It was a 1992 that I kept until 2006. Never had any engine problems, just maintenance things. I thought it was a little under powered for a 27' motorhome. The one I have now is a 2002 on an E-450 chase. The only time I was afraid I was going to have an engine problem was when I drove it in a flooding rain and I was afraid I had gotten water up in the engine. It must have dried off and I didn't have any problems coming home. I think it was a Phoenix you were looking at. I see them and Coach House motorhomes sit for sale for a long time. I'm not sure why but I would want either one. They are not that roomy and I guess most people don't like the floor plan. I can tell you my Coach House is better made than most Class C's you will see. I know 2 women that have the Phoenix and I don't remember them having any engine problems. One thing you have to watch out for on an older motorhome are the brakes.

BJ, I have looked at the Chinook and they seem to be well made and the price on a used one holds up pretty well. I would sure get it checked out to see if there are any problems. I don't know why the man would carry a second generator unless he is like me and won't sleep with my generator running. Chinooks aren't make any more but I don't think that's a problem since it would have all the systems that all motorhomes have.

We need to get a load of dirt put in front of where my son moved the trailer to as it holds water a long time. Since it rains almost every day that's a problem. I don't know how we can get it done without Harold finding out. He would want to go on the tractor to spread it and I don't want him on the road that far.

CArol, I don't enjoy going to Casinos either, too much noise. The big draw was the food when they first opened around here. I went with friends to eat a few times. The last time I was in one they wanted $21 for the buffet and the food was not good.

I really slept in this morning. I have not gotten much sleep the last few nights, so did some catching up. I had lunch yesterday with some ladies I worked with 30 years ago at the house of one of them, and we enjoyed chatting for over three hours. Then I drove around Ann Arbor for a while and was amazed at the changes in the last few years. I got my undergrad degree there in the mid-60s and my masters in 1984, so I used to know the campus very well, but WOW, what changes! Seemed twice as crowded as I remember it being.

Then out to dinner with some high school friends, including one very good friend who I went to kindergarten with. We ended up at different schools for grades 1-7, but met up again in high school and there were three of us who were bests friends. The small group of us there chatted at the restaurant from 5:30 until 9:00!!! I only see them once a year, but it is still good to catch up on people we all know. One advantage of going to a small school is not only knowing everyone in our class, but also siblings of classmates and even cousins of classmates. Very small world!

SO, after a very long day of talking, I had an hour drive home. Took something for some aches and really slept. Felt good.

I never had any engine trouble with my 1999 - with the V10. Would buy another in a heartbeat. We can find problems in most any of them if we look hard enough. I'd look for another reason that mh hasn't sold. Other problems. Because the older ones with v10's are selling like hot cakes around the country.

Sue, my winter plans are still entirely in jello. All that is certain is I will be heading to TX to go to my Mexican dentist - have two teeth to take care of. Actually, one for sure (the one that broke shortly after getting to SD this year) and another we keep our eyes on ... ). Beyond that, well, several iffy plans. Will firm them up shortly, I'm sure... what I want to do and what I can do this winter might not be the same. But my alternatives are great, so either way, it'll be a good winter.

Keystone has their "Holy Terror Days" today. The parade this morning was shorter than I remember from the previous few years. But still fun to watch. I'm working here and there today - business has slowed down so much - I'll just help when/where needed today.

Missed morning by an hour or so but still wanted to stop in & say 'Hey!'.

The trip to KS was super busy. Between my sisters who helped to organize & run an estate sale within 1 week's timeframe & my brothers who shortly thereafter went into high gear with 'flip that house - sibling-style'. I haven't had a spare minute. Bottom line is everything was sold, trashed or given away, brought some things back with me in the van & stored pics/albums, kids mementos, etc at ex's. Cleaned, painted & freshened up house, listed it yesterday, had 5 offers & accepted a cash offer this morning. Closing is in a couple of weeks provided everything goes smoothly. I'm exhausted! Couldn't have done it by myself - love my siblings!!! They are gifted & driven & just pulled me along with them. ;) Carolb, you would have loved working with them. :) Lots of laughter, tons of work, 2 dumpster loads (at my brothers shop) & we got it done. Decided I don't want to own a house again - way too much work!

Left KS on Wed midday - outran the rain - arrived home yesterday evening. The van is packed tightly so Sadie has her first experience in a hotel & in an elevator. She did great! (So did I). With each mile the stress drained away & by the second day I finally was enjoying the drive again.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone here.
Later...

Catherine, I'm impressed. Congrats on getting it all done (with a little help from your siblings - ok, a lot of help - how awesome is that!) And Congrats on the fast sale - that's wonderful. And, like you, I never want to own a house again. I have too much junk in a 26 foot rv!
