Looks like you're having a great time, Anita. A couple in a SS drove past us here in the northern GA mountains. carold

Speaking of Anita driving fast. . . . .

Last March, I had the pleasure of visiting Anita in Salome, AZ for 4 nights. It was great getting together and even greater when she said why didn't we take a ride in the SS. I've had a couple other opportunities of riding in the SS and I was thrilled. She took me on what was probably a 100+ mile ride. We started out in the beautiful desert from Salome with wild flowers blooming all along the highway. We took a loop route into the mountains and eventually made it to Wickenburg where we had a great lunch.

We completed the loop by taking another route down the mountains on a very curvy and rather steep road. Anita said she wanted to try out her driving skills and check the performance of the SS to see if she would be able to "keep up with the big boys" on her upcoming cross-country ride. She took the curves fast and the SS performed flawlessly. When we got to the bottom and back on flat ground, Anita announced that she felt really good and confident she could keep up. I, on the other hand, finally OPENED MY EYES SINCE STARTING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, finally LET OUT THE BREATH I HAD BEEN HOLDING THE ENTIRE TIME, and finally RELEASED MY WHITE KNUCKLES FROM HOLDING ON FOR DEAR LIFE. What a wild ride! Don't get me wrong, she did a great job and I'm definitely sure she is "keeping up with the big boys" and probably leaving some of them in her dust. You go girl!!!

Loved your post Sandi, I can just see you holding on and squeezing your eyes shut on your SS ride. I'm not sure how I would react, but would like to try and see.

Anita are you coming near Illinois in your travels?

Oh dear! Sandi, I thought I watched you closer than that! You should have said something!! Trust me, those curves were nothing compared to tighter ones I have been on - want to come ride? Tight 30 mph curves at 60 is great fun!! Once we got here in Vail, word spread fast that I like speed. Just like in the Smokies, I told everyone they could always go ahead of me. It is really a whole new world for me on many levels. If I could afford motel rooms, the truck and camper would be gone!

I did enjoy your post, Sandi! Made me laugh.

This being a smaller group, I got to know some of the big boys - especially a couple of vendors that are well known and highly regarded.

BJ, afraid you'll have to come meet me somewhere - I'll be back in Virginia the end of the month. :D

There will be a rally in Texas Hill Country next April. I will probably have ridden the roads by then, but it would be fun to see some of the people I met in the Smokies and here. Can always have a passenger! One of the NY gals from the Open Road Singles forum is riding with me in the Adirondaks.

I thoroughly loved that ride Anita and am glad I had a chance to experience it. My stated reaction may have been "slightly" exaggerated. I'd do that ride or any other in a heartbeat. Praying for continued fun and safe travels for you.

Anita came through Keystone today. I glanced out the store window and saw a few Slingshots, none hers. I knew she was in the area so ran out and asked if it was her group and was told it was. And she told them they had to stop here. Then I saw her. We only got to talk a few minutes, but it was wonderful seeing her. And, luckily, the weather here was wonderful today.
