Labor Day 2016

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Labor Day 2016

Postby Colliemom » Mon Sep 05, 2016 7:46 am

Good Morning,

The final official day of summer, so they say. The calendar and mom nature say otherwise as we know. Yes, I am home. Shorted my trip a couple of days. Decided after spending 4 nights out, walking the dogs endless times as they enjoy the trips through the park, watching and listening to people, dogs, cars, trucks etc. I wanted to head back here while the weather was nice and give my trailer a good cleaning and washing before the weather changes later this week. Also, supposed to get hot and humid again, so not my favorite camping weather. I enjoyed the trip and if I could have gotten back in to another park I like, I would have stayed up there till tomorrow. ut rain is on forecast for that area for today and tomorrow as well as some humidity. I'm sure the girls are enjoying being home after four days of being tied up as well. We will head out again yet this month.

Been reading to catch up a bit and see things happening out there. Sarah, sorry you are having so much trouble with allergies, Peggy, glad you are doing so well and also enjoyed a nice visit from Carolb. Anita, your trips sounds great too. i haven't been able to read up on it though as my WiFi up there was more out than in. Poor connection. Martha, nice you are havng some dry weather. I haven't been able to follow the weather in FL or elsewhere either. Beth, that's wonderful that Vickie and Dave will be working out there next year. Does that mean you are going back as well? Maybe it's time for a SD GTG out there. Lots to see and do. CArol, hope you get those dar leaks fixed. Yep, it's time to unload hte place. Sorry about your sister. Hope all will be well for her in the end. Don't remember what else has transpired this past week.

As for me this morning, it's off to the shower, start up a load of laundry and see if I have enough hose to get to where my trailer is parked. There was never any water hookups put in at the garage, so gotta run line from house. Will see if that can be taken care of next year. Hope you all have a nice Labor Day out there.

Good morning Sue and all who stop by after!

Beautiful morning here with sunshine and birds chirping! However, we had several big storms roll thru here overnight which were fun to watch and listen to, but I just got a call from my salon manager saying the power is out in town so I am on call now for work until that comes back on.

Last night I went to look at a carrier that attaches to the trailer hitch for more storage. It would work out great but they want $200 for it and I just can't part with that much money right now. I think I can put my tent and screen room in the back seat of the jeep right behind the front seats across the floor. Hoping the golf clubs will fit in the cartop carrier. Will have to leave the golf pull cart behind but those don't cost much to replace anyways. All three of those would have fit perfect in that hitch carrier but not worth the money for that.

Hope you all have a great Labor Day!

Gmorning Sue, Barbie & all to follow :)

Sue, very appropriate that you will "labor" on Labor Day ;) Glad you enjoyed your getaway, even though you shortened it. Barbie, that's a lot of downsizing if you're able to fit all your belongings in & on your Jeep, but smart not to pay more for a carrier than it would cost to replace stuff.

Anita, do I understand that your group ride is finished? I thought you had a full cross-country trip with them? You're too funny! You seem to attract all the younger boys--cougar, you are! hahah

Sarah, your allergies are beyond the pits! I'm also taking allergy med (Tigg too!), goldenrod is plentiful already. CArol, also the pits about your water leak :(

Off to labor in my yard ;) Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Moving slowly on this lazy Labor Day, watching a lot of the campers pack up and leave. Will be a lot quieter the rest of this week because school starts this week in Michigan. All I have accomplished so far today is check my oil and add a quart. I did have breakfast of IKEA crepes--love them! Rest of today will be sitting in my recliner and getting some work done.

I'm assuming everyone else, other than Sue of course, is taking it easy today. Sue always seems to have a project!

Oh, did accomplish a lot yesterday in my son's driveway. He used his power equipment to really do a good job sanding my front running boards and my motorhome steps. Then we painted them and they look fantastic! Nicer than new, even. If they last two years without rusting, I will be happy. I also pulled everything out of the one storage compartment where everything mildewed a second time and found puddles of water, I think from the truck wash, so I will have to check there often. Washed all the clothing and tossed out my suitcase. Now I need to try stuff on and see what fits now that I have lost a few pounds. Some will be donated and good stuff needs to be put in big plastic sealed bags.

I went and picked my son up at the air port. Today was a good day to go to town. There weren't many people on the road. I saw a few campers headed for home. There is rain all around and we hit some coming home.

Carolb, I don't think the old guys can keep up with Anita. I think they are picking up people and losing some along the way as not everyone can make the trip coast to coast.

Barbie, did you see how much a small U-Haul trailer would cost? I have never rented anything from them so don't have any idea what they charge.

My son had to evict Stinky, she had taken over his room. Every time I looked she was in his chair or on the bed. Now she is in here pestering me. I'm sure if I would get up and follow her she would show me what she wants.

Martha, yes, I did look into a small U-haul and it would cost over $400 and I would have 6 days to turn it in down there. Since I don't need furniture where I will be living, I would then have to pay for a storage area. It wouldn't be worth it, besides the much worse gas mileage I would be getting on the way down there. Better to just start over and get things as I need them down there. It will all fit in my Jeep one way or the other! Gonna get some space bags for clothes and soft things to save space in the rooftop carrier.
