Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cooler nights and lower humidity. I am enjoying it. Second day of the dog show here in Lexington. Josef and I are off to the arena after Remi and Audrey get their morning walking and sniffing completed. Hope everyone finds jewels hidden in their adventures today and no one gets blown or washed away by wind, waves or water......

Friday Labor Day Wkend

Postby carolb » Fri Sep 02, 2016 6:54 am

Gmorning all :)

Good to see all those reporting in for Rabbits Rollcall! Barbie, you are definitely making your move--anxiety always seems to accompany change. Donna, prayers. Sheila, so happy for your check in, & congrats on new truck! Lyn, have a great bday weekend with daughter--you're definitely getting a lot of miles on your new TT:)

And yes, I had a great visit with Peggy!!! She looks great:) First time to stay in her camp driveway, & it was just as wonderful as all the "CD"s I've stayed at;)

Anita, tho I haven't been posting, I've been reading, & very happy to hear about your SS trip! Wow, you made the solo trip without a hitch--or did you catch that cold???

Martha, glad you've had some sun & "dry" weather. Now how about those of you in FL? Looks like Hermine will bring us a little rain here in central NY next week--we could use rain, but not at the expense of flooding elsewhere:(

All else is well. Planning a trip to DE/MD next week, but will need to keep an eye on weather.

Y'all have a great day & be safe this " unofficial end of summer" wkend... 8-)

Good morning! :D
Sunny and cool here this morning! Very nice!

I had earlier considered moving down to Florida and staying with my girlfriend and her husband for awhile until I found a job and place to live, but I decided I just can't do the humidity, bugs and alligators down there and decided on Arizona instead. Now it turns out that was a good decision. My friend had to evacuate in the middle of the night last night because their house was getting flooded quickly from the rising storm surge (they are in Crystal River on a canal). That would have thrown a wrench into my plans for sure! I am hoping and praying that their house won't be too badly damaged from this. They have a lot of work ahead of them!

I think I will bring Lola with me when I drive down to Phoenix. I was going to leave her here with a neighbor and then fly back and get her but that will just complicate things (and cost more money), and since I have a place to live now, it will just be better this way. I need to get her a calming collar like I used on her when I moved back from California. That worked really well to keep her calm and quiet without having to use any drugs.

Hope you all have a good day and stay safe and dry!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Morning, Carolb and Everyone!!! Your post was so light and bright this morning, Carolb that I so enjoyed reading through it. The storm is not effecting my area here except for rain which is really needed. As it gets farther north, not sure but we might have some winds too, but that will be later. Right now the sun is out, not real bright as we had fog earlier here.

I had thought to write of my day yesterday, but won't dim the brightness that Carol brought to all of us. I do have to say it ended with a message from my nephew that my sister had fallen and broken her arm in Mexico. She and her husband who is scheduled for surgery when they get back are on a cruise with their two youngest and their families. Having a great time, and then this happened and after my day, it was just about my undoing. She's not a young chick at all and the break was bad between the elbow and shoulder and she has a bone problem anyway especially in her back, so am waiting for more word as to whether she is really ok, except for the arm. Sorry to dump that after Carol's nice post, but I am saving the rest :) and I just have to tell someone as it hit me so hard, I was so aware of being so far from her.

My repair guy I think will be here today and he is in for more then what he expects, just hoping he can help me. It will all get better, yesterday was one thing after another and it got to me, but before I went to bed, had managed to regain my peace and just not let it stress me out, except am still concerned and would love to hear more of my sister, but she'll be ok too.

Need to get busy, can't finish cleaning both of my big decks off, as everything is wet, great excuse huh? :o  I'm planning to pack up more of things I want and pile more stuff in the pile to go to Resource thrift store. Gotta clean this place out as I don't think I will be coming back to stay for any length of time, I've had more then enough of being up here so far from everyone. If I am going to be a long ways from those I love and care about hey I should be out on the roads of places I still want to see , right ?? :D

Shutting up with the hope that all will be safe and can manage a great Labor Day week end, in spite of weather conditions, I'll be packing off and on,
Please take care,
CArol
Barbie, you snuck in, know you're excited about your move, think its great for you and idea of taking Lola with you sounds like the best idea to me too.

Carol I know that you and your sister are close. And anything that hurts her hurts you in its own way not to mention reminding us of our temporary able bodiedness But... She and your BIL are with their kids and It is appropriate for them to step up. You know that next generation thing. If you were right there for her they just might let you be that step up person because you will always want to be that for your sister. (((((Hugs)))))

It looks like we will have another day with no rain. We can stand to dry out. Yesterday Harold decided to mow and first round he bogged the mower. I haven't heard what kind of damage Florida had. The Weather Channel is more interested in talking about what the storm is going to do in the future. I would like to know what the storms in the Atlantic are doing.

CArol, hope your sister is ok. The way things are on cruises I'm surprised you heard anything. One of the things I didn't like about the cruises I went on was I didn't know what was going on in the rest of the world. A friend was on a cruise ship that was trying to outrun a hurricane and ended up off the coast of South America. We were so worried not knowing what was happening to them. You don't need to be so far from family especially since you have so much trouble getting help. You might as well be traveling and enjoying yourself.

Barbie, Lola should be a seasoned traveler now. Hopefully she will remember and not be too upset.

Harold was back with the horse before I even got up this morning. She has puss in one eye and the vet had to flush her tear duct. I hope she didn't catch anything. She might be like me, if I'm going to get sick it's going to be on the road.

I need to go see about Harold's phone again, it's not working today. My son ordered him a new phone because his old one was 2G and that is going out. This phone is not going to work. The buttons are too small and he hits the wrong numbers. I guess I'm going to have to get him a phone from AARP with the big buttons.

I know this is very late, and I have not been posting much lately, but I have been going through my annual medical wringer! Finally done with all the pokes and tests and more tests, but now headed to Ohio. Will be back in Michigan in a couple of days, but NO MORE APPOINTMENTS AND NO MORE TESTS!! Yea! So I will be able to relax and visit friends.

I loved the cooler temps last night. It was downright cold, and I just snuggled up in my down covers! Hope it stays this way. Was really getting tired of heat and humidity.

Heading down to FLorida soon and will be there by October 3. Hope all the tropical storms and hurricanes are done by then.

Forgot to check in yesterday but I did remember Rabbits (at midnight).

CArol, wishing you a much better day tomorrow; Same to Donna. Hope her sister arrived safely before the storm.

We had a beautiful weather day - best in a long time, read lower temps and humidity. Sad I did not get to enjoy much of it due to badly stopped up head (very high weed pollen now) but I did sit on the porch as much as I could to let Nicky enjoy some extra outside time. BTW: He is nice and clean as I got in to vet for long overdue bath yesterday.
Not sure how I mixed my days up but just discovered it is Friday, not Saturday. This stuffy head must be getting to my brain.

I've been quickly reading each day. Donna, so sorry about your dad. CArol, hope things calm down for you - breathe! Sarah, what a time you have had. Peggy, so delighted to know you are doing well!! Carolb, not a full blown cold but coughing lots of 'junk'. Glad you got to go see Peggy. Now storms in the SE again - stay safe. Really haven't seen much news to know exactly what is happening.

The other gal of our group is a Sgt. Major in the Army. She leads a humanitarian team. They have all been sent to Hawaii due to storms and she is apparently running the operation from here! She'll fly over on Friday after she gets back to California.
