Anita's Cross Country Slingshot Adventure

Postby chalet05 » Sat Aug 27, 2016 8:27 pm

I thought I'd start this thread for those interested. When I post photos on FB, I'll post a link here.

I drove the SS 2500 miles from Clarksville, Virginia to Auburn, California. The purpose was to meet up with a few others to participate in Slingshots Across America. My truck, camper and Slingshot trailer are stored in Virginia. We will leave here tomorrow morning on our journey to Lake George, NY. We will be riding scenic routes including Hwy 50 across Nevada (the Loneliest Road), the Million Dollar Hwy in Colorado, a rally in the Rockies, Mt Rushmore - that's for starters.

I have already met great people here! I belong to a SS forum similar to this so it was fun to meet people - especially two of the gals - one owns her own SS. After the speed limit breaking ride in the Smokies, I said I didn't need to do that again - WRONG! 88 mph at one point today. People figured out I don't belong with slow riders. I don't want to ride behind the guy that can't even get up to 45mph! One young man gave me a ride in his SS with a turbo - I get it, but I don't need that power.

Very few of us are making the whole trip, but we will be picking up others along the way for a day or more. My trip here was quick - for the return trip we finish in New York on September 18.

Hey Lyn, we're your ears burning Friday? We were speaking fondly of you over lunch before I bid farewell to Anita.
