My son that is retired from the Air Force did 2 tours in Turkey and his ex-wife is from Turkey. Turkey was a very democratic country and the president is trying to go back to the old religious laws and dress codes. My son says that Turkey's constitution has a clause that the military can take over if that happens. That seems to be easier said than done. Just hope that things calm down or we will be in the middle of it because there are several air bases in Turkey.

I heard about the shootings in Baton Rouge on my way home. There have been demonstrations going on for the last week or so. The police were arresting people that were blocking highways and wouldn't get out of the road. There was a list of the people arrested and where they were from. Most were not from Baton Rouge. I would like to know who is paying to bring people in to cause trouble.

Your son is right, Martha -- which makes it hard to know what outcome to wish for! The current president has been in power for a long time and seems to be making that drearily familiar slide from elected official to dictator. He's presently talking about making changes in the Constitution, and he has jailed people for publicly criticizing his policies. Yes, he tends to lean toward traditional Muslim points of view. Today, conspiracy theorists are saying he encouraged the attempted coup as a way get public support for his policies. It's a mess!

The world has never been a particularly safe place, but this century of war seems even worse -- I think probably because of the technology. It's so much easier to kill large numbers of people than it ever was before, and at greater distances, too. I think having that always in the back of our minds makes all of us a little crazy all the time.

Barb (Burnindaylight) and her so were in the area this week. They stopped in the store Monday and caught me sitting on the floor. Today they stopped in to say so long and I was putting up groceries. Yep, I sometimes do work. :)

It was wonderful meeting them, and luckily I had a little time to talk both times. Hopefully next time we meet we'll be able to spend more time. So very glad to have met them. Wonderful ladies.

Safe travels home, you two.

Thanks Beth. It was a pleasure to have been able to finally meet you. We made it home safely on Friday evening and spent Sunday morning scrubbing 4700 miles of bugs off the front end cap of the Meatball.

Sheila, sorry you couldn't attend both weddings. But I saw a picture of the cake you made - it was gorgeous. You did very, very good.

I, too, have wondered about Sandi. If she doesn't chime in soon, I'll email or call her! (She's reading the forum as she was on yesterday.)

I'm here. Thanks for asking about me. :) I check the forum every day, but nothing really to post since I got back from my trip to the eastern Sierra. I arrived in Fernley, NV today and a little later Lyn arrived. We head to Thomas Canyon in the Ruby Mtns. tomorrow for 4 nights where PattyK worked. Diana had to cancel due to water problems on her family's property. I haven't heard any recent news about Patty. Has anyone gotten an update?

I don't think I'll have service in Thomas Canyon but will try to take some pics with Lyn and will post when I can.

I went and helped my friend with her aunt's house again today. She didn't get much water but it doesn't take much and sheetrock and cabinets have to come out. My friend's husband is the general manager of a plant near here so he knows how to get a crew to cut the wall and tear things out. We have just been packing things up to get things out of the way and throwing things away that were damaged. Let me tell you, parents that have downsized and got rid of things have done their kids the biggest favor. This lady's house is full of dollar store junk and clothes with the tags still on them. Makes me want to come home and throw stuff away.

I'm sure she appreciated your help, and everytime I find stuff to throw away I know I've saved my
children that chore after I'm gone.

Sitting in a quiet county campground in Illinois this evening. Broke the drive to St Charles into two days just because I could and didn't want to be exhausted come Saturday morning when I have to get both Audrey and Josef ready to be in the ring by 9:30....... Only showing the one day and then heading back to Ohio to make another acupuncture appointment before I head down to the Kentucky Horse Park and hanging out in the campground there for the Lexington Labor Day shows........

If anyone gets tired by all the rehab and cleaning Sue does can always think of my place. I am lucky if it gets swept and cleaned at all.....I am pretty good at keeping the clutter picked up but when I get to thinking about things that might benefit from painting I remind myself I have an RV and don't have to stay there and look at it. LOL Then again I am not sure that I can comfortably invite folks over to stay for a weekend.

I think our hot tub is still over by the beer coolers and if it cools off just a bit more I think I might enjoy a dip. Other than making reservations for the Nashville gtg I haven't committed to anything but am looking to possibly fly in for a NYC visit this fall.

Been busy running errands and taking care of all those things I could not do while working and attending dog shows. My to do list is getting smaller and smaller and I am now about ready to see where I might like to land this winter.

Hope everyone is making a great day of it whatever your adventures might be.

Tina ~ Where are you showing the furkids on Saturday? The only place I can think of off the top of my noggin is Pheasant Run, unless you'll be a county campground.

(Yes, I'm looking for an excuse to not do stuff I'm supposed to on Saturday  . I can try for 3 years out of 3 for seeing you ;) )
