Painting Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Painting Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Aug 23, 2016 7:09 am

Morning,

Yep, I'm gonna be painting today or at least this morning. Porch floor is getting a face lift. Gave it a good scrubbing yesterday, so it's all set. The deck and side landing are going to get it too if there's time this fall, deck railings definitely as there's some new wood there. That will be the last of physical house stuff other than new gutters which may be a next spring thing. Got some other projects that need doing before winter sets in. Won't be all work though, some fun times on agenda for next month too.

Judy, glad you made it to OH. You have had quite a summer of adventures. Anita, a Plan B sounds good. Barbie, maybe the gals have the right idea about you doing some scamming of your own. Lyn, glad you enjoyed your trip. Sounds like you are enjoying your new house on wheels :D Carolb, great that you are njoying your siblings and having fun.

Lovely weather here now. Cooler days and nights, not that it won't get hot again for a short, but those days are numbered. 70's-low 80's with low dew points are about the norm now. Getting more rain now too. Cut grass yesterday for first time in about a month.

Guess I had better get moving, put wash in dryer, do breakfast dishes and get the paint brush ready. Got sausage and eggs here if anybody's interested. Bring a paint brush with you  Have a great day!

Good morning Sue! You are always keeping so busy. I am getting ready for a trip to Mississippi Palisades SP with a new to me camping group. Sure hope they are as friendly in person as they are on FB. Other than that, nothing much going on.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Good morning gals!
I am doing a lot of soul searching and research on moving to Arizona in October. I got a couple calls yesterday in response to posting for jobs at Great Clips out there. Talked to a manager in Prescott and she has openings in all three of her salons there. She told me to contact her once I get out there to set up an interview. Just talked to a Great Clips recruiter in Phoenix and she says there a lot of jobs available out there and to call her when I get there. So that sounds very promising.

I am still feeling nervous about where I will stay until I get working and find a more permanent place to live. It is hard to rent a place before getting there since most places want proof of employment. Also won't know exactly how much I will be making until I get hired somewhere, just a ballpark idea, especially with tips. I make awesome tips here but California was horrible.

I went thru this same thing before moving to California too and I did fine once I got out there, so I know I can do this. It is all the "what if's" that make me nervous! There is also a ton of work to do to get ready to go. Lots of possessions to go thru and get rid of. I found a small enclosed trailer on CL but the guy decided not to sell it right now. I think a small U-Haul will still be bigger than I need. Will see... I am getting the wiring done on my Jeep for towing, this week.

Found a neighbor who will take my cat until I get settled and then I can have her flown down there. Also have another neighbor who wants to buy my kayak but I haven't decided if I want to sell it or take it with me.

So lots on my mind right now! Hard to get to sleep at night with my mind racing!

I need to decide for sure on this by the end of the week. :o
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Morning everyone! Or at least almost-morning. I did sleep in a bit, but have been busy making reservations for later this fall, so just took time to go online. My son got back at 9:00 pm last night, and I was anxious to get to my own bed and home, so I drive back here late. Had a little trouble with the key so I need to do a better job of remembering to take flashlights with me.

Today I am taking it easy. Got to dump my tanks today and do some RV cleaning on the inside. Over the weekend, my son and I went to my storage place and tossed some things in the dumpster. I am headed out there with the motorhome tomorrow to spend the day out there. Want to take the motorhome so I have a bathroom and comfortable place to work. My big project will be to go through as many boxes as possible and repack only what I absolutely want to keep. Then I put it temporarily at my son's house. If I can get it down to maybe 10-12 boxes, I will put it in his storeroom, otherwise, I will rent a very small locker nearer his house. (The other one was near his old house, but they moved and it is now a 110 mile drive.)

Whew. Makes me tired just thinking of all the work, but I should have tossed more when I first started full-timing.

Anyone want a brand new RV dinette??? Free?? It has a cutout in one back where the passenger's seat fit into it, but cushions are good and there is a good table. Also got some bookshelves and a dining room table and hutch that have some mildew on them.

The president is on the weather channel giving a speech in Baton Rouge. The networks aren't interested enough to interrupt their regular programing. It looks like a photo op for all the politicians. Fools names and fools faces are always seen in public places. What I would like to see is an accounting of where all the money goes that is donated for flood relief. Everyone is on Red Cross's case because of some of the things going on at the shelters they have taken over. They won't take anything except money unless it comes from someone they have contracted with. My feeling is that if you know someone personally that flooded give them the money. At least you know where it went.

Harold wants to bring his exercise bike to the shop to get it tuned up. When he gets something on his mind we might as well stop everything and do what he wants. We have to fuss at him for standing up in the back of the truck where he has no business being. I have to bring my son and grandson to the air port in the morning so I finally talked him into letting me go in the truck and drop the bike off after I drop them off. He kept arguing with me about where the place is so no sense in him going.

My son is going to have to stay in New Jersey for a while to take care of Jeremy. The ex-wife's boyfriend is having triple by pass surgery in the next few days. I think he is being transferred to Penn Presbyterian today.

Other than all that excitement, not much going on today.

G'afternoon all :)

Quiet here, Bro left just a bit ago. Now I need to put my house back in order. Speaking of houses, Sue, yours is absolutely adorable! I love the porch! Good to see you check in Kathy:) Barbie, big decision, & sounds like you're doing a lot of legwork to see if it'll work for you. Have you googled for temporary rentals? When I lived in Mesa, there was a nice converted motel that rented by the week/month. A friend lived there for a bit so I saw the inside--really nice units.

Time to start thinking of a short road trip. Haven't been anywhere since the end of June! Crazy busy summer:)

Y'all have a great day & be safe 8-)

Today would be Sparkle's birthday. Her last birthday was in 2010... we celebrated on the lake in Guntersville, Alabama. I sure miss her.

My first trip after surgery in July, wanted so badly to meet this woman who had me laughing like a crazy woman all alone in my home, sooo many days especially on not so good days! When I saw pics of her rafting down the Colorado river, I knew I HAD to meet her!, I didn't make her Birthday but we had Shrimp again with her. I hated so bad she had that big"C" , and in her pics they worried me. I'd just had surgery for it and didn't ask Dr if I could go, he said I could drive so off to Al. Maggie and I, went. I will always be ever so greatful that I made that trip, so glad I met her but will always regret there weren't more times for us to gtg.

She is missed by many people Beth ! Thank you for your MSG here and on FB !! I think of her often, especially when there is something I'm wondering IF I should try or do, there's courage in memories of her.

CArol, Jean was definitely one-of-a-kind. With her I learned I could not caravan well, but I could travel with a friend - one friend - well - especially when the friend was her. Since I've managed to travel with some of you - sometimes better than other times :) Like you, often when I think about doing things I hear her voice telling me - what? Why are you even questioning this? I've been making some decisions this summer - and she's been talking in my ear helping me make them. These things may not become noticeable this year or next - but I'm in the works of making some changes ... maybe going back to what I really loved. Only two people that are no longer with us can I have conversations with and I hear - and know it's how they'd feel - my Mom and Jean. Neither Jean nor I expected our friendship to grow as it did. So fast, so strong (two almost completely different people)... but I don't feel so bad about her leaving, other than my missing her company and stories and talking back to me. She really was ready and I think she was ready to go join the love of her life. I'm glad she got to Baja - I'm sorry she didn't get to work the boat in AK with me. I'm sure she was there in spirit.

As of this past Friday, it's pretty sure I'll be coming back to SD and the store next summer, and Linda will be, too!

Sheila, I went into town tonight for an Indian taco. It was good, but yours are better. Sure hope we'll both be in Q this winter and you'll share them again :)
