Monday, Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, Monday

Postby JudyJB » Mon Aug 22, 2016 9:05 am

Guess I have to start the morning coffee. I have been up since I am at my son's house. I spent the night and got kids off to school because both he and his wife had to go out of town on business and left the house at 5:00 am. Son will be back by 9:00 pm, hopefully, so I will be able to go home. Kids are 7, 8, and 10, so they got up and dressed by themselves, packed their own lunches, and partly fixed their own breakfast!!! Mother told them to help me out, so they did!

Anyway, bus picks them up at end of driveway so that part was easy also. I am going to hang around their place today getting work done.

So, where is everyone?

Saturday night I went out to dinner with a childhood friend and her mom. Hadn't seen her mom in 16 years! We had awesome BBQ'd ribs at my favorite place. Had a great conversation!

The owners here put out two new large hammocks by the lake this weekend and they are awesome! Also a glider in the back courtyard too, overlooking the lake. The lake is higher now than it has been all summer with all the rain we've been having. I can actually reach the water with my feet hanging off the end of the dock now. Love to sit and splash my feet in the waves. :D

Am doing more research into a possible move to Arizona in October. Need to make a decision soon one way or the other. Sent my resume to Great Clips in Phoenix, Tucson and Prescott areas so will see what responses I get from that. Will need to find a temporary place to stay until I can get working and find a more permanent place to live. Will feel better about committing to it if I have some of those things figured out first.

My dad figured out how to get the money from the reverse mortgage on the house now, so the flood gates are open. He now has access to about $700,000. I am sure the scammers are so excited! Very sad...

Back to work for me today. Our State Fair starts on Thursday and am planning to go that day. Supposed to be sunny and low 70's, so perfect day for it!

Anita, take your time and see things along the way on your trip! You are not in a race! Have fun! :D

Hope you all had a good weekend!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Morning from Tucumcari, NM -

Did the long day yesterday and made it here just escaping rain! Staying again tonight and will go out to sightsee in a bit. Just enjoying a slow morning and lots of coffee! The Blue Swallow Motel is a Nat'l Historic site on Route 66. Really nicely done complete with rotary dial phone!

Barbie, right now I am kicking myself for the time table I set because my goal was to have plenty of time to ride the Pacific Coast Hwy. Thanks to a message from Sue yesterday, I now find there is a fire in the Carmel, Monterey area. Bummer! Not sure how I want to spend my days until Sacramento area on Friday.

Cheryl, sorry for all the bad news coming from you. My dad was an alcoholic but lived about 1800 miles away - only had to put up with phone calls. Barbie, please send your dad's number and I'll hit him up for money! ;) That is just so sad and frustrating for you.

Make it a great day and be safe!

Gmorning all:)

Anita, I've been so happy to see you post each day of your solo SS trip! I sure hope the fires are under control & put out by the time you get to CA. Beautiful areas, but who knows what they'll look like after a fire :(

Barbie, I think Anita's hit on a good idea! You can have all of the forum family pose as "sweepstakes" agents, & he can send all his money to us! Then we can send it on to you:) Once he's exhausted his funds, you can start "helping him out" with his own money

Been busy here with both bros. MO Bro leaves tomorrow afternoon, but we're having a great time. There are 2 other sisters & another brother in our family, but Jim, Butch & I agree that the three of us are the most fun--definitely the zaniest! Been a blast!

Fall-ish day here, & Judy talking about schools starting--pretty good signs that summer is coming to a close!

Ya'll have a great day & be safe 8-)

Barbie, the problem is that he will end up homeless and then want to move in with you while he is waiting for all his money! You need to get out of town. One thing is that Prescott is not as hot as Phoenix or Tucson.

One of my cousins "stole" his mother's money that she got from the sale of her house after a divorce because she wanted to buy a horse. Never mind that she had no place to live or put a horse or had even ever owned or ridden a horse. He talked her into giving him the check so he could go to the corner bar to "cash it." She gave it to him and signed it over, so he took it to the bank and put it into an account in his name!! Then he bought her a house trailer and paid three years rent in a trailer park!! The rest he doled out to her over the years. Some times you do have to be dishonest.

Hey, would be loan you some money so you could buy a house??? Then you would at least have something to give him back when he became homeless.

Good Morning All, BOY!!! So much news to catch up on....will I ever get it done?!?!?! It is good to be home, however, all the things that need taking care of have added up while I was gone.

Barbie, got your PM and will get back to you soonest.

I will be leaving again in 12 days for a really nice, expensive RV park over Labor Day to camp with the kids and celebrate a daughters birthday....so, got to get the Li'lLance cleaned right away.

I had a good experience with the backing up when I drove into a stores parking lot and it was a dead end! Not only had to back up around a corner, but had to go around a car that pulled in behind me! All turned out well and I was proud of myself and very glad for all the practicing I had done.

Fires out here are horrible and flooding in LA horrendous.....Martha, glad to here your home is on higher ground!

Anita, it looks like you have made it past the rain, now to worry about the fires.

Judy, it's great that your grandkids can do so much for themselves. I think my youngest's biggest problem was we did too much for him. The more competent I was the more incompetent he was. And he hasn't changed much.

Yesterday my left thumb was sore and the joint popped every time I moved it. Last night I took some 2" packing tape and made a brace for it. Reminds me of some of the things Harold does but it actually feels better today.

I saw a recipe on Facebook that calls for chicken sausage and pasta that sounded good. I think I'll try it. Jeremy will eat just about anything that has pasta.

Mornin' ladies ~~~

Barbie - I vote for you being a scammer yourself also! Since your Dad seems to want to do it, you do it too, but then you get the $$$. Gotta do what ya gotta do!

And why am I confuzzled Anita? I thought you were doing the SS cross country with a group, but you are doing it by yourself?

Great weather here. Wish this weather would stick around all year!

Have a good day ladies & stay safe on the roads.

P.S. Thanks for the Mom support too. I'm sure it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Good morning all. The sky is very strange here in N. Central CA - gray and cloudy (not sure if it is smoke effect??) with just a little blue but at least it isn't hot this AM.

Anita, the Soberanes fire (Carmel, Monterey) started a month ago and is still burning. The chimney fire started south of there and is 2 miles from Hearst Castle. All tourist activity at the castle has been canceled at this time. So, I'm sure all of Hwy. 1 is a mess and could be very scary with all the fires maybe even closed in some areas. Then there's the Cedar fire in Kern County also.
