My New House

Postby Colliemom » Sat Aug 20, 2016 3:33 pm

Some of you have been asking for pictures of my new house since I have been busy redoing the outside. Here are the latest. At the time I bought the house it had some flowering bushes growing in the front of the porch in need of trimming. I took them out and replaced them with Globe Yews, less maintenance other than maybe a shaping up every other year or so. The porch was in need of paint, the posts having blue strips in one spot as you can see and also blue rail tops. I repainted the porch rails and posts totally white. This is a picture of the porch before painting posts and rails.

This is the after picture from the painting of the posts and rails, with the blue shutters and light grey window boxes that were on the house. The original color on the window boxes was blue to match the shutters but I changed them to white, decided that was not the color and then tried a light gray instead.

Image

In the end, I changed the color of the shutters to black to match the roof and also made the window boxes a darker shade of gray as well. This is the current picture as of now.

This last one is taken from the far side of my yard looking toward the house with the garage and part of my front yard.

Down the road, I will be planting some more bushes in front of the house and working on the landscaping. Want to put in a few flowers for some color along the side wall and by the side door landing.

Linda, I have 3.39 acres here. As you can see there isn't a lot of grass mowing to do like my old house had. Besides that, gotta enjoy that nice lawn tractor I have ya know  My porch is open to any and all anytime you are in MI and by this way. I love to sit out there myself. I have a deck on back too, but it's in the sun so not much fun back there. Like to be where I can watch the action when there is any.

Actually I kind of have Eileen (Beazle) to thank for the color ideas, she's the one who suggested I try them when I was thinking of a new color scheme. This house used to be more of a gray shade but has faded to a light blue gray over the years.
