Muggy Saturday..

Postby grammynmaggie » Sat Aug 13, 2016 7:44 am

Good morning everyone all I can say is it is oppressively hot muggy day.... not much going on at Camp driveway going to the West Coast of Florida on Wednesday to check out something for a friend and then meet up with Margie and do some exploring as the heat allowed... I'm looking forward to that for sure I have not done much of anything else cannot even get out in the RT to get things organized and arranged I think for my trip with Carol over to the campground at Wickham last weekend I did not really think I had done things properly as far as organizing you so I'm going to start all over from scratch I found a Roadtrek group on Facebook and they have a lot of good ideas I'm going to have to start writing them down because I forget what I read... well that's about all for me have a good one & B safe...donna
PS... I made a couple of blog post if you want to take a look

Good Morning Donna and all,

Was a muggy day here yesterday with misty rain in the a.m and then nothing till late afternoon when we would have some sprinkles on and off. Not enough to do much as far as wetting the ground, but just made it damp and muggy. We did get rain during the night and is raining now. Not enough by any means, but it will help. So today will be work inside the house day. Need to finish up the trim around the door I did the other day and sand some spackling down. Once that's done, then can put up the spare bed and make the up. Couple more boxes will be gone.

Am wondering how Martha is faring down in Abbeville. She said yesterday that they were under flash flood warning and watching the weather Channel, it's terrible. There is a flooding emergency in LA. Hopefully she will let us know.

Was thinking yesterday, that it's only 2 and a half weeks before I head out with my trailer. Bought a small bottle of dish soap the other day  Am not going to stock up much in way of the things I normally do as will be short season for me.

Am jabbering about not much of anything this morning, so am going to wish yo all a nice day and I'm outta here.

Gmorning Donna, Sue & all to follow:)

Yes, Martha!! Hope she's okay. I too saw/heard news of LA state of emergency, & the radar map looks horrific!

Hot & very humid here too, & we've had some good rain. I don't usually "hide" from the hot weather, but this is too much for me. Have been doing inside projects for the past couple days.

OSharon, Grange Fair? Hope you're not having the heat & humidity too. Anita, hopefully the weather will calm down before you leave in the SS! Donna, organizing a RT takes a lot of ingenuity;) Glad you found the RT site.

Wishing y'all a great day 8-)

Mornin' Donna, Sue & (Carol that snuck in) and all that follow ~~~

Not much {{{shaking}}} around here. Good soaking rains yesterday which we needed. I got flash flood warning @ 5:30 AM, well before the rains started, and then a few more in the evening.

Going to pay for Colt's storage this morning, giving Punkin a play date with Angus, and 6 month old Australian Shepherd puppy that the storage lot owner has, check Colt for leaks. I have reservations for next weekend, but right now the forecast looks like storms for the entire weekend, so those may get cancelled, so I won't make the bed, etc like I planned this weekend. I can always do that at the campground.

Have narrowed it down to 3 campgrounds for changing my October Wisconsin reservations after hearing JudyJB's complaints about the trains at Grant River, but want to look at a few more today first. Still planning on going to Cheeseland (WI), but just not sure where yet.

Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Good morning ladies
Finished the first work week with a pizza, wine and a Redbox movie. The new
route this year seems pretty easy, kids are good and parents easy to work with.
These kids can communicate so we have to be careful what we say, something we are not used to.
Have a hair appt this morning, then house cleaning chores this afternoon. Getting
back in the swing of a routine. Tomorrow is a fun day, and doing some window shopping with a friend other than Bill. Actually the first weekend in 6 months I didn't spend in Superior. Speaking of Bill, he's still waiting to get his motorhome back,
and finding out what life without my help is all about. His loss, that's enough about him, its just the vengeful half of my heart speaking!
Our humidity is up here, something else I'm not used to but soon it will be fall.
OK, time to get my shower and wash my hair, y'all have a great day, be safe.
Only 108 more get up and go to work days.

We are still watching it rain. The ditches and pastures are starting to fill up. The rain comes in bands. It rains hard for a while and then lighter until the next band. Last night we heard the highway was closed a couple of miles past us but Harold drove down a good ways a little while ago and the highway is open. We are only a mile from the Vermilion River and it is in flood stage in Lafayette and North of there. I don't know how that will affect us. There is a lot of street flooding in town so it wouldn't do us any good to try to leave because it is worse North of us. If the water starts rising we can move the vehicles up on the hill. It's just scary at night because we can't see what's going on. All of this is not going to be out of here until tomorrow. I just hope the electricity doesn't go off.

Yesterday the schools that didn't close did as soon as they got to school. By then some of the roads weren't passable and they spent the rest of the day trying to get the kids home of to their parents.

Yesterday I got an email from the state park we were going to next weekend. They are closed until next Friday so they canceled my reservation and gave me a refund. I have a feeling they are going to be closed longer than next Friday. Our campout is off.

Harold is leaving again. I wish he would stay off the roads like they tell us to do.

Geeze, Martha, I hope the rain stops soon! I thought of you on and off all day yesterday -- flooding is no joke. Keep letting us know you're okay, will you?

We've had good rain here in the Palm of the Mitten. The ground is just soaking it up like a sponge! The official report says two inches, but the buckets in my back yard suggest twice that. Even in this short time, all the plants look more vigorous. It's cooler today, too; 80 instead of 90. :D

A little cooler here in southwest Wisconsin, but still horribly muggy. Anyway, today is my last day here so I am going to stay inside and get some real work done--as opposed to procrastinating. The one thing I might do is clean out my freezer. It is really full, and I have lost track of what is in there. I started out the other day to make two pasties because I knew I did not have much freezer room, but I cut up too many vegetables and ended up making four pasties. They take a LOT of space to freeze, but I managed to cram two in, ate one, and put one in refrigerator that I will eat tonight. It's a lot of work making pie crust dough and cutting up veggies, but it gives me three quick meals when I am ready for them.

Tomorrow I get up at 6:30 am and head to Moline, IL, for a tour of the lock and dam there. I found out the COE gives free tours on Saturday and Sunday, so I called and signed up. My tour is at 10 and then I will drive to Indiana Dunes State Park for the night.

Trains are very noisy, but I am up and down all night anyway.

Good morning or rather early afternoon! I slept in this morning, another night of not getting to sleep until early hours of the a.m!

Martha, been watching the mess happening in your neck of woods. As was said, keep is informed that you are okay. It never cooled down much last night and is now in the 90's. And muggy. Just heard some thunder so something is brewing! Another inside day, for sure! Alice, good to hear you have a good route and good kids. Good way to end your time working! Carolb, the fair officially starts on Friday no move in starts tomorrow until Thursday. BY then most everyone is in and setting up there tents for the duration. I had to laugh when I was reading the posts on what people bring camping, This is some serious camping. it's amazing what people bring and set up in these tents! And the RV area is something too!

Took a road trip to Harrisburg Camping World yesterday. I picked up a couple of things I needed. I really didn't have to go there but wanted a road trip. Even if it was in the car. I ran into a little bit of rain in the late afternoon but otherwise dry roads coming and going.

So not much else happening here. I really need to get going and get a few things done! Kitchen floor needs some attention! Can't complain about the rain but the boy's paws keep it dirty! So time to scrub, again! Hope you all have a good day and be safe if you are on the roads.

Good Afternoon! I seem to have Internet for the moment and have fired the laptop up.

Heat and humidity - Yuck! I went out at 7:30 this morning to start prepping (cleaning) the SS - lasted about an hour before I was dripping wet! Not going to get any better and some rain predicted Tues and Weds. Drove about 30 miles yesterday to do some shopping - came home and slept - heat just does me in. If it wasn't for the cost of motels, I think I'd hit the road today just to get out of here.

Carolb, like you (and others) it is inside projects, but I'm getting a little tired of being in here! :) Martha, hoping the rain will let up before you have too big of a mess! Alice, you certainly deserve an easier route and cooperative students and parents! Sue and Cheryl, what a disappointment to have to cancel trips due to weather, but at least you have that option!

O'Sharon snuck in! Forgot about the camp set ups. Trailer in NJ for weekend had a smoker and a portable sink - goodness knows what else.

Stay safe whatever you are doing today!

Anita, it is muggy with thunder here at my campground. Othersharon, Sharon, I am currently at Locust Lake St Pk. Nice wooded park. Lots of birds and chippies calling. 6 kids on one side and 7 on the other! Pretty quiet for that and well behaved - parents...not so much.

I am glad it is warmer, but would like the desert humidity! Made a trip to Saint Clair for drugs but doc only sent one of three scripts. Will see if I can get that fixed on Monday...or not. Have four days to get to Missouri. Hope forecast rain stays away. Headlight on the motorhome is out. I thought it would be an easy peasy change, but it is not. Got a spare if I find someone to do it for me. There are some repair folks along the way, just need to find one close to the stopping places. BUT, I don't normally drive after dark.

Maybe it will cool after rain, cuz we know it will be more humid! Hope you all have had a nice day and lots of fun!

We are still hanging in there. It actually quit raining for an hour so I got the cats fed without getting wet. It's lightly raining again. I feel like we have overdosed on the weather channel. They keep showing the same flooding over and over but there is nothing else worth watching. They are saying we could get another 4 to 8 inches tonight but it should be out of here tomorrow. A lot of Lafayette looks like a lake. Lafayette has received about 21 inches of rain in the last 48 hours.

They keep talking about the river in Lafayette but they aren't saying what they expect it to do down here. Just hope we don't have a high tide with a South wind to meet the water coming down.

Good evening!
Yesterday we had more rain and high humidity again. Today is finally sunny and cooler but still fairly humid. I got invited out for a boat ride with my brother and his wife earlier today. We were out for 3 hours and was very nice and fun! Came home and took a long nap.

Was planning to go to the county fair this afternoon but by the time I woke up from my nap it was getting late and they have the very loud truck pulls this evening and with my headache, didn't want to listen to all that noise! Our State Fair starts in 3 weeks so I will be going to that one anyways.

Some rivers around here are still rising from all the rain we had the past few days. The lake here looks quite a bit higher too. We got about 5 inches of rain. Nothing compared to LA tho! Martha, that is a ton of rain in just 48 hours! Wow!

Hope you all had a good day so far! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
