Heat wave coming

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Heat wave coming

Postby RitaMc » Wed Jul 20, 2016 8:33 am

Good Morning. I can't believe I'm the first one up. There is 12 grain bread and peanut butter, yogurt and Bing cherries for breakfast. Coffee as usual. Going to be very hot with hazardous weather conditions coming for 3 days. The humidity is horrible. I bought 15 pounds of Bing cherries yesterday with the thought of freezing some and making jam with the rest. I have tog et that pot of boiling water going with the high humidity so will freeze them all and make jam when weather tempers a bit.
We haven't got the Shasta our yet this year. What a busy hectic spring summer we have had. I finally got some annuals to put in the planters off the front porch. Out of town company arrived before I was ready to entertain but we had a good visit. Now that things are settling down we hope to get some local camping trips in. As the weather cools in late September early October we hope to go to Yuma and get our trailer more organized for when we go in January/February. The closing took place 24 hours before we had to leave to come back so we hardly were there.
Hope all of you keep cool and hydrated during this heat wave.

Good Morning RitaMac,

You beat me in this morning as I was still typing my morning greeting. Thanks, now don't have to think of title and so forth. Going to be warm here too. Into mid 80's they say and humidity gradually creeping up. Looks like tomorrow till about Sunday afternoon going to be the most humid. Won't be doing anything outside, that's for sure. I have a big mess in my back yard to clean up from a deck demolishing project yesterday. Neighbor took off about a 10 by 10 section of deck and now i have a nice set of steps in it's place off the main deck. Don't need all this much decking here. So we piled up all the cut up stuff in a pile and I am going to move it over to another pile of wood that I am taking up to a wood recycling place. I also have a little bit of finish work to do on the deck steps and remove some old posts that are cemented in. Just going to cut them below ground and cover up. Will see how much gets done today after I get home from shopping etc. this morning. Payday here, yay!

So, gonna make this short and get moving. Keep cool everyone, don't over do it outthere. Stay safe if on the roads too. Rita, I would just pop those cherries in the freezer as is and deal with it later when weather isn't so hot and humid. You can freeze them with the pits in, just remember to take them out later.

Good morning ladies
So glad I went to social security yesterday and not put it off. They do indeed think it was a mistake and will investigate. They fixed the computer for me to receive my check as usual and there we have it. The guy thinks somebody was looking at the previous year when I did go over and had to pay back, but not this time, I was well under the limit.
Having some great monsoon activity lately, although too bad some have to be without
power. I continue to bring stuff in from the shed and sort through it. I'm so excited about seeing it disappear!! Funny how that sounds. I have a whole section of empty tubs and sterilite drawers wrapped up in trash bags to keep them clean. I will hang on to those for now, at least until major decisions are made. They will eventually get a new home. Just about ready to make another load to salvation army. Have some old blankets to cut up for the dog rescue, I usually cut them in quarters, that's on the agenda for today!
Y'all have a great day, be safe

Yeah, I'm planning indoor projects for several days in a row, too. I just don't function well in high heat and humidity. Grrrrr! Fortunately, I have lots to read! ;)

Good Morning All, Nothing much exciting going on here. ComicCon begins today, so the excitement will be about four blocks from my condo. Still little over a week before I leave in my new trailer for Rock Creek. Everything is loaded except the food. That will be next weeks job.

The temperature has been lovely at 5:30 AM when Casey and I are out doing our first walk of the day. It is pretty high when we do our 2:00 PM walk. We stick to the shady side of the street at that time. One of the deli owners we pass on the walk has started giving the dogs a bit of turkey as a treat. Now the dogs expect it every time we pass and they want to go into the deli to get their treat. It does get to be a nuisance.

Sue, your new home sounds very nice. I've enjoyed following all your activities of fixing it up!
Ava, you are busy too! Making headway tho....it does feel good, doesn't it!

Have a great day, lyn

It's going to be another hot day, it's already 95. The weather channel is talking about a heat wave tomorrow all the way to Canada. I'll have to ask my brother if he is having Louisiana weather. The scattered showers were here yesterday and we got a good wetting. The yard needed it.

Not much going on as usual. I have to go get my car serviced this afternoon. I like my Honda but don't care much for the dealership.

Frosty made the great escape this morning. He was having a good time in the yard. Harold said he didn't let him out but he was the only one up going in and out. I would let him stay out a while but he keeps going across the road.

I need to go through the stuff stored in the old house. I threw enough away so we could get around in there but there is still stuff that needs to go. The hinges have rusted through on a couple of doors so I bought some to see if I could replace them. I think that job will have to wait until it cools off.

I better go clean some of the junk out of my car so it doesn't look like I live in it.

Yes, it is getting hot! 95* today with heat index of 105*. Tomorrow and Friday near 100* with heat index over 112*
The humidity is what really gets to me! Just sucks the life out of me! So hard to breathe and function! Will be staying indoors and cleaning/organizing for the next couple days.

Hope the rest of you stay cool today!

Hot here in Sarasota with high humidity too. But, I'm probably one of a few people who like it better. I'm like a prune in dry heat. Well, I am a Florida gal...since 3 months old. Playing tennis but only @8am or at night...not enough shade otherwise to keep from getting sunburned. Hoping to be on the road for the fall. Had to take the Blue Bus in for some repairs. Hopefully not too much $$$. Still working, like Sue, on our new to us home. Hadn't been lived in for quite a while. Hoping to do some renovations next year. That's about it. Nothing exciting. Stay cool. cd

Pacific coast has been chilly, but I am headed to Bend today--long drive. It will certainly be warmer there. Three more nights with my kids and then they will head south back home and I will head east across the top of the country, although it looks like it will be really hot in a few places.

Been really thinking about next spring and summer, but still no plans. Want to find some place where I will not bake, but on the west coast.

Just pulled over for a break from driving. Was dozing off, so having some caffeine-laden pop and something to pop in my mouth from time to time to help keep me awake. Hated to get up but got up when they all got up, and trying to follow their schedule. WIll be glad to be on my own again.

Called the phone company and found out that they can only block calls from my dad's phone but not calls coming into his phone. So that is why the scammers are still able to call him. I guess he went to his renter to call them back from his phone but the renter wouldn't let him do it.

I went to the bank to see what I can do about stopping them from giving him money orders, etc. They said I can request a block for that on his account but he can just unblock it anyways so that won't help any. I did find out that I can take money from his account (joint account with me) and he can't do anything about it. Just when I was talking to the banker, I saw a $40 charge show up for a taxi, so I knew he was on his way to the bank to get some money, so I quickly transferred the $10K from the reverse mortgage into my savings account. Whew! I am sure I will get a call from him about that! The bank says he can't sue me for that since it is a joint account. It is perfectly legal. (I wonder if it would be legal for me to use that money to buy a little camper and move down to Arizona??? )

Otherwise, not much else accomplished today yet....need a nap now. Dealing with this crap is very exhausting!

Actually, it would be legal for you to use it, but not nice. :)

Barbie, it's a good thing you got to the bank before your dad. I know it's aggravating that you could have had a nice camper for the money he has basically thrown away. It's a shame that your brothers wouldn't stand up to him. I'm sure you will be getting some nasty phone calls but I wouldn't answer the phone when he calls until he calms down.
