Quiet Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Quiet Monday

Postby carolb » Mon Jul 11, 2016 6:20 am

Gmorning all :)

A beautiful morning here in upstate NY. Will be a great day for mowing & weeding. The past week was very busy for me--house/pet sitting for cousin, then the arrival of a RT friend for the weekend. All is well!

Martha, I would have loved to see you trying to outrun that 18" alligator ;) Catherine, good luck with your housing situation. Glad the newly weds enjoyed some time with you. Ginger, sorry to hear about losing one of your kitty clients.

I have visitors coming! OSharon, Anita & Peggy, yahoo! So my driveways will be full in a week or so:) Looking forward to that!

Alice, keeping good thoughts for you as you "purge" your way through a difficult (?) time. I'm going to get Tigg to the vet & ask about theophylline finally, so thanks for that recommendation.

Y'all have a great day & be safe wherever you are 8-)

Good Morning from near Hershey, PA!

Nice and cool this morning, but it won't last. :) I'm meeting Paulette today for lunch in Bird-in-Hand! I intended to go to Longwood Gardens yesterday about 1 1/2 hours from here, but I felt like the GPS was taking me in circles - it really wasn't. The weather was so nice here that I took out most of the rain gear and then started running into dark clouds. Chickened out and came home, but I had a beautiful drive in the Pennsylvania countryside.

Carolb, save some weeding for me! Anxious to see all your hard work. So great of O'Sharon and Peggy to be coming, too. Martha, I was imagining you catching the gator! Ava, what can I say about men? True colors don't always show up right away. Sounds like you are making great strides with your purging along with Nikki. Catherine, that was certainly a big jump in rent! Hoping everything will just fall into place for you with housing transactions. Sue, you are like the Energizer Bunny, you just keep going! :D Lyn, hoping I remember to turn the game on and look for your building!

To all, make it a great day and safe travels.

We had a little rain last night, and when I went out this morning, the back yard actually smelled like summer! It's fading now as the sun comes through the clouds and everything dries out, but gosh that was lovely. I got the hydrangeas in the ground and watered in immediately. It took me half a day yesterday to dig the holes -- the ground was so dry I couldn't get a spade into it! Water, soak, dig; repeat. I think they'll be fine now, though.

Ava, I admire your purging! I really, really need to figure out how to do that. Martha, you gave me such a grin with your alligator story. Thanks!

Good morning! Looking like a sunny, warm day here in central PA! Good day to do what Carolb is going to do! Won't need to mow since it's still so dry but might be able to get some weeding done! I had a busy week end, had company late Sat. afternoon and an invitation to have dinner with son and family too. Had to pass on that! Then went birthday shopping with SIL for her roommate yesterday. She needed to take a break from packing up their house for the big move! She finally admitted to me that she pushes it to hard! With the "heavy air" we've been having it takes a toll on her lungs. I sure don't want to see her get sick before the big move.

Anita, Longwood Gardens is worth seeing! And I know what you mean about the GPS! That area isn't the easiest area to get to! I had to go to Concordville several years ago which is just down the road and I felt like I was going in circles too! I even stopped and asked a police officer in one of the little towns I was in and sadly he didn't have a clue! And apparently I wasn't that far away from where I needed to be! Martha, I had to laugh about your run in with the alligator! I would have left it to him too! Been enjoying Liz and Carol's photos. Beautiful part of the country.

Ok, not much else to report here. I'm hoping to hear from Jim about my awning this week and that he can replace it. One way or the other I will be leaving next week for my visit with Carolb. Even if it means just removing the damaged one so I can travel! Have a good day and travel safe!

Good morning ladies
Ok, on the issue of purging,,,,pick a day your mad and upset and have at it!
That's when I do my best purging.
Shopping the other day went well, am making a major purchase late September,
saving all my $$ now for a good downpayment. Therefore no get away trips for me
until after that. I am however going to Oklahoma with my friend Bill who remains
my friend until which time I burn that bridge. I will be doing the majority of the driving
as the man drives way to fast in a motor home. At 75 mph, I'm lucky to be alive after
6 tires on the motorhome tried to separate. Anyway, its his sisters birthday and she
may not live to see it. He specifically asked me if I would go with him as a friend, I
think he has a fear of how he will manage every thing if that happens. He had to learn
all this motorhome stuff from me, and I don't even have one yet! He bought his mh 3
years ago, drove it home and parked it. Enough on that, its a sore subject.
Movin right along, have been out in the shed early this morning organizing the items
I will keep, and will sort through the other side another morning. It gets too hot in there
by 8:30. Little by little it will get done.
Time for mid morning coffee and a little tv. Y'all have a great day and be safe

I haven't been back to the pond to check on my "friend". I hope he get lonesome and leaves. I have to open and close 4 or 5 gates, depending on where the cows are, to get to the pond. I use the term gates loosely. Some places are fence panels tied together. One of these days I'm going to get PO'ed and go to the feed store and buy some walk through gates.

I envy everyone with the GTG's and traveling. At least I have the campout this weekend even though it's going to be hot. I have already loaded a fan.

We got about a half inch of rain in just a little while yesterday. I went out to get something out of the camper and got caught. It was thundering and lightening so I just waited for it to stop. Harold makes fun of me because I get very short if it starts lightening. Years ago I was riding in our arena and lightening struck the pipe fence. I bailed off the horse so fast.

Today is my grandson's 14th birthday. He wants to go eat sushi. Not my favorite but not my choice. I need to pick up some dog food at Petsmart. We'll see if I can remember that.

Ava, I know how you feel having to ride with someone going too fast in a motorhome. I hate to ride with my older son in anything. I feel my younger son is a better driver. Harold has finally figured out that I'm not going unless I drive. He looks at something on the side of the road and runs off the road on the other side. He's so deaf that I wouldn't talk to him because if I said anything he would turn and look at me and not the road.

Well, I'm going to see if this posts. I'm only lucky once in a while although I do keep up regularly; enjoying the travels, commiserating, laughing, welcoming new members, etc. There is lots going on with us. tGM is having surgery tomorrow to deal with a never ending skin cancer on his face and neck which has been going on for the last 10 years. So we decided to by a villa in Sarasota as a home base. There is a storage area in the community for trailers, etc so that is good. Hopefully we will be back on the road by the end of August...not sure where. Took 2 of our gks on a European cruise this summer which was great and enjoyed the Florida keys for a couple of weeks as well as spending time with all of them in NC. There should be pics on Bob's blog. That's a quick summary of my life at the moment. I'll continue to try and post while keeping up with everyone else's life. cd

Woke up Alive!

Postby DearMissMermaid » Mon Jul 11, 2016 11:35 am

I woke up alive!

Food in the fridge and a roof over my head, life is awesome! No complaints.

7,000 acres, half price special and I am the ONLY camper in town. I changed spots too. How funny is that.

I went to pay for 2 more weeks and told the ranger if it got any more crowded or noisier... (I am the noisiest thing around!)

There is a guy who is recovering from a shattered leg and can't get into his own bathtub at home, so he drives 45 minutes to come here to use the handicap shower at the campgroud. He got permission to do this since he normally comes to camp. We usually chat a bit. Other than that, it's just me and the rangers. Doggy can be off leash which is AWESOME he gets to run those long skinny legs and show off. This keeps his weight at 6.5 pounds yet he eats like a horse.

Anyhow, it's a great bargain and I so needed that because if you've seen my blog, I've had to repair this and that to keep this old rig going... oh and I had to repair the old RV too!

Got up early to go to bakery with son only to find after I was dressed and bed made that he had already gone. Grandson brought me an apply fritter, however. Love to be with my kids and grandkids, but it is definitely harder to travel together, even if we are in separate rigs. Guess I am used to doing my own thing too much. They have all gone to the beach, and I am hanging around motorhome, but I will fix lunch for everyone. Told son to give me at least 15 minutes notice.

The sun has come out and the wet stuff might actually be drying, so I am thinking about getting out today and reorganizing my underneath storage. I have two large rocking chairs which are very comfortable, but just too hard to get out. So, I am going to get rid of one and move other to different location. Then will put my brushes and maybe even my ladder in the back and make my one smaller, more easily foldable chair more reachable. I have owned this one for two years and never used it because it is too hard to get to!! So, some reorganizing is in order, to say the least.

Then I might even take a long walk to an overlook of the beach. Tomorrow we head north to South Beach SP, so looking forward to that, especially since it is supposed to be sunny on Wed and Thur there. Yea for sun!

I love empty campgrounds! Some people think they are dangerous, but I like the peace and quiet. Also, nice to feel like to own the whole place.

Have the day off! Yay! Slept in late. I remember waking up screaming from a bad dream but now I don't remember what the dream was about. Probably a good thing!

Cloudy, hot and humid today. Supposed to be nasty storms tonight. Will need to move my kayak to a safer spot.

Noticed that my dad's checking account in overdrawn this morning. He has sent at least $2300 to the scammers in just the past couple weeks and also paid $650 in long distance bills since June 1st. That exceeds his monthly income by a lot! And he still has over two weeks before he gets paid again. The long distance calls are now done so hopefully things will settle down in that area. His renter is back in town too, so that is good. He has a ride to the store again.

Today, I need to do laundry and clean up around here some, with an occasional nap thrown in! :D I am taking my Jeep in on Thursday to get the brakes looked at and get an all-over check-up since that hasn't been done yet since I bought it. It runs great tho, so am hoping it doesn't need much of anything other than work on brakes.

Hope you all have a good day! :D

There is a tornado about 30 miles west of me right now. It has been on the ground for about a half hour and hit a mobile home park already and has done damage in three communities so far. It is heading for St Cloud, MN. Lucky for me, it is moving northeast so will be missing my area, but more storms could happen later around here. Several other tornadoes just north of the Twin Cities. Will be watching the news for awhile tonight!

Edit...wow! Now another tornado on the ground along the same path as the one an hour ago! That one also heading for St Cloud. So far no serious injuries reported yet.
