Anyone here ever had it used on them? Outcome? OMG I am so wishing I would not have let them "fix" my SUI (stress incontenence) using the mesh. I would really like to talk to some other women about their experience. Joined a few support groups and have begun the laborious journey of research on what the he** I'm going to let them do to "fix" the fix. Just from the research I've done so far....OMG THE HORROR STORIES. I know one thing, I am certainly going to be taking a lot of time and possibly several consults before I decide the route for me. It's a dang scary thing. some history....
I had a transvaginal mid urethral sling done in 2012. From the time they took the cath out in the hospital and had me "go" I knew it wasn't right. I told the dr I had hardly know control of the urine stream and it was soooo slow. I went from LOL the fastest pee,ear in the east to taking FOREVER and not feeling like I'm emptying plus leaking when I stand up from the commode. The Dr Belen me off like three times over that year making me believe this is just as good as it gets. I have put up with this since then and truly believe that I have not been beset with UTI's because I am so diligent about going again even a few minutes after. I had so much crap going on in my life the last 2 years I just didn't feel up to dealing with this as well. Now I do. Went to another urologist a few weeks ago, a urogynocologist put the thing in, he did some test over a couple weeks and told me that I was right, I am retaining somewhere between 150-200cc of urine after I pee. I have an obstruct to the urethra due to the sling being too tight.... I want to go to sleep and wake up with this not happening. There are thousands of lawsuits out there about the mesh now. I had heard some negative stuff before I had the surgery and voiced all my concerns to the Dr. He brushed it all off saying we don't use any of that "stuff" I don't use those "kits" I have never had a problem and I have been doing this procedure for 20 years........UGH.

I feel so sorry for your troubles.

Over the years the docs have tried to force me into all sorts of procedures that I refused.

So often there are alternatives. They may not be a quick fix, but most eventually do fix.

I used to have bladder problems, leaks and stuff, but I did painful exercises for a long time and now I don't seem to have any problems. It wasn't the doctor's choice, it was my choice.

Florida is full of lawyers, that sounds like your next step. You may want to meet with several different lawyers without letting them know you are shopping around.

How horrible to deal with this. Hope you find a good solution. From my Mom's experience, I would not recommend the botox injections. They hurt like heck and didn't do her any good.

So sorry you are dealing with this! Tv here has been full of lawyers offering to help you sue over that unnatural solution. I hope you can find a solution.

You could look it up online and interview several because these are class action suits with no cost to you as it comes from the settlement and they might have suggestion on best repairs to the damage. The work is already done you just have to prove you had it used I believe.

SO sorry to hear about this. I guess if it were me, I'd want it out, but with a different doctor who was a little more sympathetic.

Before you sign on with a lawyer, you might want to contact the company that manufactured the mesh directly. While the money comes from a settlement, a lawyer will take 30%. You may be able to negotiate with the company directly to have the sling removed and repairs done, plus a "pain and suffering" amount without going to court, especially since there have been so many court cases showing the problems.

I did that about 45 years ago with a car accident. I was given tips by an insurance claims friend and was able to settle having them pay for plastic surgery on my nose to repair a bad scar and a sum of money for pain and suffering. No lawyer was used.

Get some more opinions...I had a friend that had an operation for stress incontinance. She complained ever after of the pain...after the surgery. Consider using pads for this problem....much easier and less expensive. lyn

That would be hard to do since I've already had the surgery for the incontinence, now I have to get the fix..."fixed"
