Cool Down Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool Down Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jul 09, 2016 7:18 am

Good Morning from the 45th,

Storms and rain came through yesterday afternoon and cooled things down here. Actually had to put long pants on later in the evening. Felt darn good. Going to be cloudy and not as warm as has been today, so good day to do somethings outside. But first have a HOA meeting to go to this morning and maybe a run up town. Did get more boxes unpacked yesterday and some things put where I want them, but still need some organizing. Pictures are sitting in the rooms I want to put them up in, but will do that later. Going to have to think RV storage ideas for some things as closet space is lacking upstairs here. Only have the 3 bedroom ones and a couple of small ones in bathrooms for stuff. Have my office room temporarily set up. Need to find a desk. Found a new kitchen table set that I think I am going to buy, so that will be taken care of.

Time to get moving here, get cleaned up, wash hair etc. Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Good morning
Woke up early again, having a lot of anxiety going on. Haven't felt that in a long time, almost forgot what it felt like. So, think I'll go shopping today, not to buy but just to look and make dreams.
Got out and raked the yard and threw a few things away. The inside is getting pretty empty but need to work on the shed. That will take awhile cause its too hot right now and not many hours in the am while its cool.
Laundry is done for now, will have to get it put away in a little bit.
Y'all have a great day, be safe.

Cool enough to get stuff done outdoors today! There are trees down and power outages starting a block or two east of here, but only light stuff tossed around in my yard. And rain! We had some rain! Oh joy!

Horrific storm late last night. I was glad I had a drawer full of clean undies.

I actually felt SCARED. I could see my awning and patio mat and other stuff outside whipping around. I had the awning more or less anchored, so no need to go out and traumatize myself further.

Doggy and I curled up with cell phone and pretended to watch a funny movie while praying for deliverance.

I tried to distract myself by being THANKFUL, like thankful I finally got all my leaks fixed and thankful I had a home to shelter me from the storm.

Only me and one other 80-ish couple in this very remote campground. I've tried to be friendly with them but they aren't keen on that.

Woke up to big effing mess outside. Had to take doggy for a walk so he could collect up his blown away toys. Poor thing.

I didn't feel so good and it's super hot, so the mess is still out there waiting on me.

Doggy and I back inside thanking our lucky stars we woke up alive and life is goof.

Fixing breakfast this morning for 9 people!! :o Pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, scrambled egg-beaters, and toast--all in my tiny motorhome kitchen. Daughter-in-law in their trailer next door will fix turkey bacon and coffee. I have OJ ready. Four in their family, and four in their friend's family, plus me makes a real crowd. Adults will eat here and four kids will eat in their trailer. Whew.

We are in Patrick's point in northern California and headed today to Harris Beach in Oregon--only a couple of hour drive. Will be there for three days with full hookups, which will be nice since we had none here. (I would call it dry camping, but it has been raining almost constantly, so it has been very "wet" camping!!)

Hope weather is less rainy where all of you are this morning.

Miss Mermaid, you have GOT to move someone else where it is not so windy and stormy!! Been reading your blog and you have had one near-disaster after another, and it isn't even hurricane season!

Miss M you have sure have been having some storms. We could actually use some rain. Have to be careful what I wish for. We are in the afternoon shower part of the year. It can rain 2 inches in one place and nothing a mile down the road. Harold has killed some patches of grass because he mows so low. I have some old grass seed I am going to put out the next time it rains. I don't know if it will come up.

I have cabin fever and would like to go to Lafayette but it's Saturday. Too darn many people out on Saturdays. There is a monthly garage sale in town but I don't get moving early enough to go to a garage sale. I need to have one not go to one. The Horse Farm Park in Lafayette is open Saturday mornings with vendors and music but that takes a lot of effort for me to get there. I saw in the paper that they are having something on Thursday nights. That might be something I could make. They have Down Town Alive in Lafayette on Friday afternoon late with a band and food vendors. I have been a few times with friends that can get me moving. That involves finding a parking place and packing a chair. I never looked to see if the Dutch Oven people are cooking at the state park today. They have it on the second Saturday of the month but they might be taking the month off. I usually see something on Facebook if they are having something.

Frosty is on my desk looking for a rubber band. That is his new favorite toy. I have a bag of rubber bands and I throw one in the floor to get rid of him. I looked at a cat wheel on the computer a month ago and ads for that thing pop up everywhere. It's like a tread mill but goes around. I told Frosty I would get him one for Christmas. lol

Good morning all,
Miss M, I agree - please be careful.
Judyb, sounds like you've got quite the crew to feed - enjoy!
Martha, I'm not afraid to wish for rain - although being in southern CA I doubt my wish will be granted.
Ava, thinking about you - do you have another year to go before you retire?
And Sue, such a to do list, you make me tired. :)
Barbie, hope stopping long distance calls to your dad's phone helps -keeping you in my prayers.

The newlyweds stayed with me last night so they would have a shorter drive to Six Flags this morning. Love having someone here to spoil.
Going to look at another condo today - a little more money than I want to spend, but in a community that i've always had my eye on. If I like it & can swing it, I may make an offer. If I don't like it though I'll probably just relax, work on getting my KS house sold & renew my lease. Lots of apartments available in this complex now with the latest increase. Folks are moving in as quickly as others are moving out though so its priced ok for the area - just sticker shock when it goes up over 10% in 1 year.

Kids have worked out daycare for Olivia for the month of Aug (when I'm going back to KS)- a mixture of friends & family. She's going to be spoiled rotten when I get back.
Take care everyone.

Checking in after getting a few PMs asking if I'm OK because I haven't been here in awhile. Thank you to everyone who got in touch. It feels good to be thought of. I'm fine, just very busy with trying to get work done on house and other stuff. Finally got roof put on and have other outside work scheduled for end of month. I've given up thinking that schedules mean anything to these guys, so we'll see how that goes.

Big hugs to all. Saw a great bumper sticker today: "Wag more. Bark less" Love it.

Tails up!
