Thursday already!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday already!

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jul 07, 2016 7:14 am

Good Morning,

Week going by. Seems like it was just the 4th and week will be over in a few days. Peak vacation season here now. More people at their cottage, second homes etc., and more visitors in area.

Keep hoping for rain, but keeps missing here. Grass is all brown. Not worth mowing right now. Although it is looking shaggy, so probably will. Been busy working outside on porch and deck. Put a gate on porch and closed off another opening with new rails, so dogs can now go out with me when I am out there. Bough a little glass top patio table and have been eating my meals out there. Also installed some new rails on the back deck. Been tearing apart some old wood benches etc., and cleaning up around shed area. Took a truck load of old wood shrub covers to a recycle place and have another load of old wood, ties etc., to take up. So all that junk will be outta here. Next cool day we get, ha, want to yank out old flowerbeds etc. and redo them. Tree crew coming to take out some skinny trees that are just crowding under the bigger ones, haul out some bushes, trim up a couple trees and take out some stumps. So getting outside shaped up slow but sure. Before long it will be time to quit working and get my trailer out someplace.

O'Sharon and Carol, hope you get awning issues fixed, Barb, hope the phone block helps, CArol, have they started on your MH yet? Alice, hope hints work out for you one way or other. Time to move along here, so will wish you all a nice day. :)

Well, ladies, we did it: we bought an RV! Yesterday we decided, designed & ordered a Nexus Phantom Class C. 31+ feet but easy to drive. JudyJB was the inspiration to look at this size , and glad we did. A few modifications are being done for our quirks: twin beds (DH snores loudly), and an adjustable height dinette table so I can sew, and then some options for personal preferences like solar panels, satellite, smart TV, leveling jacks & stuff. Ready by end of August. We're so excited & glad to have had the collective wisdom of this group to learn enough to get this far. I'm sure I'll continue to be leaning on you as we figure this thing out. Hoping yet to meet more of you on the roads.

Good morning! Eileen, what exciting news! Bet you'll make all kinds of happy memories with your new RV! Wow, Sue, as usual, you are so busy! Making your new home yours! Awning situation now in a wait mode, check came from the insurance company the other day and everything is ordered. If it runs into the end of the month Jim said he can remove the old one and I can finish my trip to NY. Then worry about leaving Lola with him for a few days when I come back. Liz, what beautiful country you are in! Again, thanks for taking us along!

Going to be another hot day today. I have the ac running mostly to get rid of the humidity in the house. Cloudy right now with chance of showers later. We sure need it. I too am debating about mowing the yard. It's looking a bit ragged but not sure if it's wise to run the mower over it! What we need is a nice gentle all day soaker and not the hard, fast rain we've been getting. But then just glad we're not getting the storms I'm hearing about down south. I saw a couple of photos of trucks and an RV damaged by the winds.

Ok, guess I'll go back to sorting and purging! I'll worry about the yard later! Hope you all have a good day and travel safe if you are on the road.

Good Morning to All. It got cool enough last night that I'm glad we dug out the little electric heater and that Bill got up and turned it on early this a.m. Now at 7:30 the chill is off.
We will be on the road this morning heading towards home a today. We want to be home the 22nd so we have time to go a different way. Going to Burns, OR today then heading south on the 395. Something different - well different desert - to see. Going to spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Lakeview, OR. I HAVE to watch the races.
The Insurance Adjuster came yesterday. Very good news, they will cover all but deductible. He called an RV place here that came right over and took the whole awning contraption off and hauled it away. Agreed the guy that hit us was at fault. We will get it fixed when we get home at the dealer where we bought it. Check should be waiting for us when we get home. Seeings how Bill won't let me call it Jinx - I'm thinking maybe JayJay.
Eileen bet you can't wait. This is our first new RV in 15 years. Taking some getting used to. Different things in different places. Our last RV we also had it made inside the way we wanted it. This one is right out of the dealer.
We'll probably be getting some rain over the weekend. Otherwise the weather looks like it will be great - not hot.
If you are driving hope weather is good, roads are smooth and be safe.

Good morning
Loaded the car this morning with stuff purged for the salvation army, delivered and ready to start again on purging. My car held 4 big black trash bags of junk. Will continue
with this duty for awhile as I'm in the right mood for throwing shit away. I also filled the trash dumpster and will set it out tonight for tomorrow pick up.
Its been unbearably hot here, but next year at this time I'll be somewhere cool.
Gotta get busy or I'll get lazy, y'all have a good day and be safe.

I heard some noise, looked out and it was raining. The radar doesn't show anything and it has already stopped. Yesterday Harold went to get some hay and had to dodge rain all the way home. He had to stop under gas station covers twice. Now days they make hay bales so large you need a tractor to handle them. We need them smaller, not bigger. Every time I mess with hay bales I break a blood vessel in my hand.

Last night about 7:00 I went out to feed the cats. It felt kind of cool and there was a breeze blowing so I decided to wash the camper. I still need to wash the satellite dome but can't reach it from the ground. Harold will have a fit if he catches me on a ladder but he's not here all the time. I think I can tie one to the old awning brackets so I won't fall. I need to find some kind of bug remover because the RV wash just doesn't remove the bugs. I think I will try a truck wash sometime to see if they do a better job than I do.

Eileen, I know you can't wait to get your new motorhome. I prefer twin beds. My last motorhome had twin beds in a separate room. I miss that now.

I seldom remember a dream but I dreamed I was on a cruise with Tina. Tina, where are we going?

Today is my dad's 90th birthday. It probably won't be a very pleasant one for him tho. The woman from Adult Protection will be paying him an unexpected visit, and his phone will no longer accept long distance calls in or out. Will see how well he handles all that. Should hear from the AP woman later today on how things went there. I did send my dad a birthday card.

Have the day off with the intention of cleaning this place up. So far not too motivated to do much tho. Next week I start my 4 day work week so will have 3 days off. Will probably get bored enough to get more motivation for cleaning if I don't get much done today. I am not going to push myself since I am still really tired physically and emotionally yet.

Those of you contemplating mowing brown grass, probably a good idea to wait a bit. I have heard that it isn't a good idea to mow when the grass is really dry, or at least raise the blade on the mower to leave the grass a bit longer.

Hope you all have a good day and stay cool!

Barbie, don't tell him about the phone. If he wonders about not getting calls just say that it is a new phone company policy or something. You dont want him turning it back on!!! We had to do a lot of lying to my mother at one point. Preferred being honest but had to do what I had to do to protect her from worry and doing dangerous things

And congratulations, Eileen!!! Love the adjustable table idea. :D what fun you will have furnishing it--just like playing house again.

Taking a break from drive to very north part of California today.

I don't usually post twice in one day but what JudyJB said to Barbie makes me think about lying to my mom. I heard on a show on PBS that they call it "therapeutic lying"! Whatever you need to do to keep them happy and well. There came a point where Mom thought I was her adored brother and I just rolled with it rather then get her upset by trying to tell her who I was! Guess that was lying to her in a way. Had to use it in financial situations a few times too. So do what you have to do, Barbie.

My mother regressed in her mind to when she was still living at home. She called most people her sister's name and was always worried about milking the cow. I guess her brother would get mad at her for that. I would tell her not to worry, I milked for her. My brother passed away a few years before she did and I never told her. I am sure that wouldn't have registered with her and would have upset her if she understood.

I hope the phone thing will work out and he won't be able to get something else. There should be a special place in hell for these people that prey on old people.

Eileen, I'm excited for you! I have poured over the Nexus site many times! Curious how they handle that small bedroom slide on the 31p with twin beds? Will be so anxious to see your first pictures. Did you visit the factory? I keep dreaming how I could have one modified so Mel and I and our adult son could all be happy in one as son can't climb up to a upper bed in a C and neither can we. Give us progress reports as you hear!
Congratulations on living your dreams.

I had to tell "white" lies to my mom when she had alzheimers. Also just went along with whatever she told me.
I won't be telling my dad about the phone. Haven't even told my brothers since they didn't want me to do the block on the long distance calls before.

Got a call from the woman from Adult Protection. She said she went to my dads and spent 2 hours talking with him. He was very pleasant to her once he realized we hadn't sent her there to drag him off to a nursing home. He told her he was no longer dealing with the scammers but she didn't buy it. I told her that looking at his checking account I could see he has sent them large amounts of money three times in the past two weeks. She was happy to hear I put the block on the calls now.

I went out for a kayak ride today. The lake was smooth as glass and no boats to contend with! Very nice! Not much else accomplished since then tho. Need to go back out and cover the kayak before the storms roll in later.

Velda, I went through the Nexus factory about 2 years ago. It was a thorough tour but to get twin beds With their models I would have had to go longer than the 25.5 ft I found in the Thor. I really did like their products though and they really do try to work with you to try to make the insides work. Sometimes it is a matter of what you are willing to give up.

Sounds like not telling your brothers is a good idea, also!! Also, glad that the lady from Protective services believes you and is on your side.

Wish you well and hope all goes OK.
