Simmering Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Simmering Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jun 18, 2016 6:24 am

Morning,

Bit warm around the country this morning. Mid 80's here, which I know probably feels cool to those of you in the 100's or close to it. I was mowing the grass at old house yesterday and felt like a baked potato, 8-) All done over there. New owners picked up the key yesterday and are moving in, sans furniture for a few days. Brought a couple of chairs and an air mattress, so are camping out in the house  Told them I have a spare bed here that hasn't been put together yet, if they would like to borrow it for a few days. Gonna see how air mattress works and might borrow the bed if it doesn't.

So, it's off to town for me this morning for some serious shopping and stop at Farmer's market. Can't make a shopping list as haven't found the scrap paper yet  Will be unpacking boxes today and finish organizing the kitchen and maybe bathrooms. We won't talk about the garage   Gonna cool down this week, so will get that going then.

Anybody on here out with the RV's? Other than Martha, Liz of course, Anita etc., haven't heard anything exciting of late. Mine is parked in it's be home. need to run cord out to charge the battery.

Time to get moving here. Keep cool, those in the record heat. Have a good day everyone :)

We will be Leaving Las Vegas this morning in search of cooler weather towards the north. Right now our plans go to Boise, ID to visit friends - after that??? We have 30 days to travel before I have another doctor's appointment. So I'd best get busy with last of loading.

Good Morning,

Going to be a beautiful day. Going to get outside to do some handwashing - hat, shoes, etc. Put away some shoes - how many feet do I have?!? GPS took me to Sam's Club yesterday instead of WalMart! Had a nice ride, missing turns, etc. - not big on weird intersections with one right turn and one diagonal right turn.

Phone call this morning with man who runs the SS rallies. Setting up our ride to California in August - looks like I won't be riding that alone after all as he wants to take a more northern route which was my plan.

Let the cleaning begin! Make it a great day and safe travels.

Like most of the rest of the country, we're having warmer than usual weather here in Keystone. But nights are wonderful, with windows open. And it's still in the low 60's now so still get a good walk in shortly before the temps rise too much. Then when they do, I might take my chair and book and find a shady spot by the creek where my feet can reach the water and enjoy.

Carol enjoy your sojourn into Idaho. Anita, sounds good having another on your northern run. Sue, it took me longer to move everything from one rig to another than for you to completely move from one house to another... I think. Kudos to you.

Best get a move on here if I want to get that walk in.

Good Morning Everyone !!! Just checking in, same ole same ole here, except I came to realize this past week that this is not a bad place to be right now with the temps and storms everywhere else. Weather has been great with nights cool and days somewhere around 90 here in these mountains. Still cleaning and sorting, serious stuff this time as I am trying to get it really down to bare bones. My rv guy is still too busy for my rig, probably be at least mid July for it, I hope by then at least. What tentative plans I had weren't until that time this summer anyway. Still no one to fix skylight, which doesn't seem to be leaking in, its over big tub, but am wondering what it might be doing to roof in that area, soaking in among the shingles maybe? Well, I try not to dwell on that thought much :( The neighbor kids are keeping my lawn looking not too bad. Which is a good thing. I tried to call a lawnmower repair shop, only one listed in phone book and phone is disconnected, so thinking mower will just be setting out there for someone else down the line to get it going again.

My news is nothing new, just wanted to let everyone know I am still here and have had some really nice days, weather wise and feeling good wise. Peaceful , pleasant days. I don't think a person should ask for more with all the stuff happening around the world. Can't think of that either, just pray a lot for all who are suffering.

Those lucky people out on the road living their adventures , stay safe and I am enjoying all your news. Anita, not sure I would want to do that tunnel , but enjoyed the pictures. Liz, has been on some roads I would love to see, others who are preparing for camping trips, hope you enjoy your outings and weather is good for you.

Stay safe everyone, but enjoy your days doing whatever makes you happy,

Good morning all,

Sue, glad to see you're moved in - now the unpacking & organizing begins. enjoy!
Anita, I tried hand-washing clothes when we were in Bolivia - I'm not very good at it. Cleaning shoes might be doable though.
Carol, heading to cooler weather is a good idea.
Anita, cross-country on the SS? wow! That will be fun for all of us to join virtually.

We have started our week of wedding celebrations! Son & his 2 kids arrived yesterday along with married granddaughter & her hubby. Son's house here is going to be packed. Overflow will come to my place. :D :D Daughter from TX & her fam get in at 7 am tomorrow. We'll spend tomorrow celebrating Father's day & bringing the 2 families together later in the day. So excited to have everyone together! Can't wait to hear how Gaby's first days with her new mother-in-law have gone. :)

Dropping Sadie at the groomers this morning, then taking doughnuts & my coffee maker to the gang (son only has a french press & nespresso machine  ) Need to figure out what other food they need for the duration. Cooking briskets tonight - yum! (Can you tell I've missed cooking for & feeding this crew?)

Ok, time to get rolling... Stay cool out there.

Oh Catherine, the heat wave is arriving and y0u are doing all that cooking!!! Very happy for you to have all the family together!

Kinda like Carol...same ole, same ole for me. Got the shell on the truck. Continue to repack all the camping gear. Still have 6 weeks to wait to go camping.

So far our weather is beautiful.

Don't forget me, Sue. I'm always in my RV because I have no other home! Right now I am leaving Wells, NV, heading to Winnemucca. There sure aren't many places to stay in NV along I-80! Going to stop at the only Walmart on the way and pick up a couple of things. I broke part of a tooth off a few days ago and have been focusing on soft things to eat because I don't want to break the rest. Got a dentist appointment on Tuesday in Napa that my son arranged. Unfortunately, there is no space for me in Napa at the EXPO because I am coming in a couple of days early so I am having to stay for the first nights about 50 miles away. There is a dirt campground in Napa but I hate it there.

I stopped at a Camping World in Salt Lake City and picked up a new propane detector, but will wait until Napa to put it in. Looks easy--just unscrew old one and attach three wires and then screw new one back in.

So, onward today! I will be doing four days of driving in a row, which I dislike but I want to get to dentist. And today in my birthday!!! Will celebrate when I get to kids.

Going to be a windy day on the road so I will have to drive slow.

Nothing new here either except our wonderful cooler weather is about to give way to summer again with triple digits predicted for early next week. Mel is doing well with the plate the Prosthodontist made, even slowly eating some solid food! Still concerned for them to help his swallowing which may get a solution next week at recheck with swallowing clinic where we get report from swallowing study. I go to Curves 3 times a week and am throng to get to decluttering the house. Still no trips in our near future but hopeful maybe in fall. Really enjoy following the travels and adventures of those here traveling and enjoy progress those at home report on decluttering and other activities. Helps me not feel alone here. Take bare all and have a good weekend. In about two weeks we celebrate completing 3 years of this adventure with Mel's run of cancer and this far they say no evidence of disease! Praying it stays that way.

I posted yesterday about a weekend camping trip Margie and I took last week if you want to go check it out that's what I've been doing I'm patiently waiting for the next trip that we can take....this really hot here when I go outside it feels like my skin is on fire and the second I walk out the door I've never experienced a hot sun like it is in Florida in the summer took Pheebe down to the park early this morning we had an incident with a yellow lab all he wanted to do was play but it scared Pheebet and she was petrified and it was a very bad scene he wouldn't put hhim on a leash just laughed and said all he just wants to play Pheebe screaming. That Scream Of Terror a dog can do You Can Tell She's scared by the screen she makes I had to really work to catch her to pick her up she just kept dancing in circles with him right behind her it was horrible I finally got ahold of her she scratched my neck but we made it t o the car and got too many Battle Scars well everybody have a good day & B safe...donna

I got home last night about 8;00. The wind was blowing yesterday morning so the lake was very rough and the fish weren't bitting very much. About the time we decided to come home the lake calmed down but people were moving in. It is so nice and peaceful during the week. It was just so hot we gave it up. It was 2 showers a day to be able to stand it. We usually go for the 4th but since my grandson will be here I doubt we will make it this year. The fireworks over the lake are nice.

Anita, the campground that wouldn't let you keep your trailer at the site was dumb. It looks like they wouldn't want to be responsible for the trailers, especially yours. You are sure doing some traveling if you are going back to California.

I need to go to the store. I guess I will give Harold the day off of cooking tomorrow. lol The younger son and his girlfriend are suppose to be coming. I will probably cook a roast in the slow cooker because those 2 are not very good at showing up on time. We don't wait dinner on people that can't get up. They can eat if and when they show up.
