Wonderful Sundayk

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wonderful Sundayk

Postby Colliemom » Sun Jun 12, 2016 5:42 am

Good Morning,

Beautiful morning here in northern Michigan. After almost 2 and a half days of warm, humid weather, cold front came through yesterday afternoon, knocked out the heat and humidity. In about 6 hours we dropped from 85 to 69. Is 50 out there this morning. Heading to around 70 today. Wish I could share it with those of you in the oppressive heat.

Going to be a perfect day to start installing the new fence at the new house today. Don't know if I will get it all up, but now looks like tomorrow might not be the rainy day as first thought, so might be able to finish it then. Said goodbye to my neighbor yesterday. Sure hate to see her leave, but can understand the reasoning behind it. When we are older and health issues arise, time to be near family who can help if needed. Sons will be loading rental truck tomorrow and then I will have possession.

So, what's on your agenda today? Carolb, hope you get some sunny weather for that garden. Don't know how CArol is doing, haven't heard in a couple days. I know lot of you are laying low due to hot weather. Wish I were out with Liz, seeing that beautiful country. Rita, wonderful to see you post. Beth, how are things going at the store? Hard to believe it's been a year since I as there and at this time was in Yellowstone.

Guess I will go read some posts and then get my day going. Have a Blessed Sunday all.

Some Sun Sunday

Postby carolb » Sun Jun 12, 2016 5:53 am

Gmorning all :)

Sun is up there but it's to be only in 60s today. Where the heck is summer??

Sue, got here before you this a.m. Guess I'll have to check back to see how much stuff you got done since yesterday a.m. No, I'm not selling house. Just purging stuff that seems to accumulate mysteriously in a year's time, & I haven't done a good purge in a couple years.

Anita, Cooperstown YES! Only about 35 miles from me, so will definitely see you when you're there. Great scenic drives in the Adirondacks, so maybe I'll get to ride in your SS again?? Catherine, looking forward to pics of the DD's wedding. Rita, sorry to hear about new grand's health issues, good that you are there to help.

Getting HarBor prepped for short trip this week to gtg with OSharon--hooray! Haven't been anywhere in 6 weeks, yikes...

OK y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

There you are:) I also opened MC, so we'll be merged soon I imagine. Don't know what's with my computer, but sometimes takes 5 mins to "submit" after I've hit the submit icon??? Glad you're having a cool down for fence building!

Good morning. Thought I would take time this morning to say hello to everyone before I need to be off to DS's for a day of drywall hanging. He's finally getting the basement rooms done and I'm an extra pair of hands to help. I did some insulation yesterday and helped do what I could with the drywall. More of the same today!

I'm looking forward to seeing Carolb this week! I need to finish cleaning my water tank and get it filled for the trip. Not to mention everything else I need to load in. I turned on the frig the other day so it's ready to load. I did start laundry last night after I got home and will finish it when I get home tonight. I'm not sure of son is taking off work tomorrow and if he does it'll be just he and I working so don't want to not help him so it's not leaving me much time to get ready for a trip! Once I get this trip under my belt it won't take much to get ready for a trip, first one always seems to require more prep!

Sue, so glad your closing went off without a hitch! And now you're building a fence! Don't know where you find the energy but I admire you! Anita, I enjoyed your SS pics. I saw some recently and still like the red and blue ones I saw. The black and gray ones didn't do much for me! And agree with some of you that said it would be fun to follow Liz on her adventures! But the hikes would do me in! And Donna, hope you are having a good week end. More going on but can't keep up with everyone!

Well, time to get a move on. Coffee is done so no excuse to not get dressed and take off for son's! Have a good day wherever you are and have fun in the process! Travel safe.

Mornin' ladies!

Sue you have so much energy! I envy you, but think most of my wanting to be lazy is because of work stress ~~~ and 2 dogs hogging the bed which leads to poor sleep. Yea I could kick them off, but I feel sorry for poor ole Zorro and his bad, achy hips, and Punk, well he doesn't take much space, but he's a kicker lol.

Welcome back Rita, congrats on the new grand baby, but like BJ, I hope she can grow out of some of her food problems as she grows. Lots to love there I'm sure.

Sandi, Bindi is so cute. Her last 2 pics looks like she's such a happy girl, finding her forever home with you.

Still trying to find a fall vaycay place, maybe mid-September, but will need to get OK from boss for dates when I do find one. Did make a couple reservations for August & September just in case for weekends. Not much else on the agenda today, meeting Dad for a bit by Colt, want to do a trip to one of the SP's for mini-hiking if possible, and then lastly cut the grass this evening.

Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Spent yesterday icing my shoulder, so I'm a lot more chipper this morning. Love ice! But not on the roads -- i.e., winter.

Had a little trip to the nurseries with a friend last Friday, and brought home Hosta Empress Wu. So excited to have her! This is a gorgeous blue-green hosta with enormous leaves that ends up growing over three feet tall, if she likes where she's planted. Fingers crossed!

Good Morning!

I'm on a high from the wedding yesterday! Starting to think I need to go back to blogging for some things. No pictures allowed during ceremony, but downloaded some from reception this morning - brought tears. The bride and her grandmother have always had a special song (can't remember what) so bride and grandmother (in tears) danced to that. Father of bride and bride had a wild, fun father-daughter dance. Couple doesn't like cake so a soft serve ice cream truck showed up after dinner! Just all so amazing. Will get some photos to share on FB. Just awesome! More fun today tho I'm not rushing this morning.

Already 80 degrees when I woke a little after 8!

Carolb, I'll be in touch! Definite SS rides just need to figure out if we want to meet somewhere ahead of July 20. Sue, glad you have cooler weather for your project. Ava, exciting times for you! CArol, where are you??

Make it a great day everyone!

Good morning to all -Just made some Mocha Mexican coffee - smells like chocolate. A cool day here in Vegas - only 94 as the high. And it actually cooled off during the night. Cool this morning but too lazy to get out and walk.
Sue take it easy moving between homes.
Well all my tests on my heart and kidneys came back with no problems - now I feel young again - the unknown took a toll on my attitude and outlook. Diagnosis for the hypertension - no known reason - so it's called Essential Hypertension - Essential??? I could do without it. It is finally under control with pills.
One more appointment with urologist to try to figure out why the infections - and then we are out of here. Taking the new RV in for its first oil change Monday. And taking the Jeep in to see about the AC fix. Just need a tiny hole welded. Might have to get it done in Mexico due to US regulations etc.
So many of you are getting together - sounds fun all around.

Mornings gone, but just set down to take a break and find some are wondering where I am. I'm in NC, still trying to find handyman somewhere to fix a few things. Do have A/C heat unit checked out and working properly, which is very important as we've had some warmish weather come in. Not as warm here as down the mountain though. I have been working to get rid of everything I have not used and don't feel I need to keep. I have tried everything that has come to mind to find someone to help with repairs here. The last straw was this week when I got in the phone book and called a lawnmower repair center, with the thought to ask if they picked up, repaired and brought back here or just what ever I could get them to do. Well, the phone is out of service, so imagine the place is out of business. Thought to run by and see for myself, the next time out. I doubt they just changed their number though, why, up here once established don't change anything  :) My yard didn't get mowed this week and I'm beginning to worry about snakes. My neighbors have been very busy, not home much and when they are lot of company over there, not sure what is going on, but the kids have not thought or had time to mow my place.

So, my thoughts are to haul off all stuff I don't want or need and trash to of course and then contact a realtor, with the thought that he may have excess to a handiman. I am also hoping my rv guy up here will have time to repair the floor in my rv. so I can just up and leave. So far he has had more business then he can handle. If he can't find time for it, have no idea where to get it fixed. Don't feel I can really use it, if the idea that I may have a water leak somewhere is correct, can't turn water on in there or I will go through that floor, which is not really a floor as I thought a floor was. No plywood or flooring perse, so water really weakens it fast.

So I am here with all my problems still, but when hearing of the weather in other places, this is really a good place to be and I figure everything will all work out somehow, so I am not uptight about any of it. Work each day at clearing out a certain area or cleaning and for now that's the agenda around here, knowing all will work out somehow, so not fretting about it. Until my rv is fixed, I won't sweat anything else, just go along and do all I can here. Had no real plans to travel until the end of summer anyway, so that may still work out, at this point I have no idea :D

So, things are about the same here, except I have more of an idea of what I will do for my future. I hate moving from here, love it up here, but can't stand not having things like I like and no working lawnmower, not able to do some things as I am used too, and can't find help with any of it, helps me realize I am older and can't do some things, but can do many things yet, that I want too, which includes to travel, visit with family and friends etc I also do really realize now, that I need to be closer to someone that I could count on when and if I needed someone. Now, I could die and no one would know it for how long????????? I don't mean to be depressing, its just a fact, I have known for years, but its really sunk in this stay here. So, I have most of a plan together in my head as to how to go on with my life and do the things I really enjoy. I am hoping to get my rv floor repaired soon, and then will go from there deciding what I can and will do.

So I am here, I am fine, I am just trying to stay off of this thing, except a break now and then I might set down as I did now and see what others are up too. Its hard to break the habit of maybe staying on here more then I should   I have been able to leave it alone and not even turn on until noon, so hurrah for me

Take care all, I will try to check in more often, hadn't realized it had been that long since I was on the forum, but guess so if I'm being wondered where I am
Hope all are well, and if traveling stay safe, Please,
CArol

Carolb, summer has found us. It's 93 and would probably be hotter if it wasn't overcast. The radar doesn't show any rain but we are starting to have the afternoon scattered showers. There was rain all around me yesterday but it never did rain where I was. Sue, hope it stays cool so you can build your fence. I was pulling weeds and grass out of my rose bed yesterday and it didn't take me long to get hot and I had waited until almost dark.

Wish I was close enough to be doing GTG's. I think my sister and I will go up to the lake on Wednesday. Two or three days with her is about all I can stand so will be home before the weekend. The campground is just about deserted during the week. I hope it's not windy like list trip.

Harold has already cooked our steaks because he want to go get his tractor. He had someone working on it so the bush hog he bought would fit. He is always trying to save money on junk and it usually end up costing more than if the had just bought what he needed new. I just hope it's going to work.

Bindi is very cute. Harold keeps talking about clipping Hank and I tell him that Border Collies shouldn't be clipped. I use to clip an Australian Shepard we had and it was a 2 day job. I would get a grocery bag full of hair. She was so good to just stand and take it. After the trim she would look like a fat poodle. I usually have 2 cats sleeping with me and they are not happy unless they are against me. I don't know how they stand it with a fur coat because I get hot.

CArol, I hope you can find some help but I think it's hard everywhere. I don't know people get houses built because we can't get a trailer hooked up. No one wants to do a small job. We need a mower for the property and I can't decide what to get. One day I think a small mower that pulls it self with an electric start. The next day I am thinking about a riding mower. The summer is not the time to get RV repairs done either.

Our electricity went off before I got this posted. Better get off the computer before it goes again.

I am happy that the heat wave has broken here in Utah. I am in a state park about 50 miles away in beautiful rolling, green hills and on a lake. Only problem is very weak internet through Verizon. I just chatted with the camp hosts and may try to find a site slightly up this slope I am on. But the best thing is that it is Sunday and all the large family groups are gone, so lots of sites available and place is a lot quieter.

So, lots of work to get done before the end of the semester, so must run. Glad to see some new members and some older ones back online and in touch.

Kind of late getting on here tonight...we should change this to "Morning Coffee & Happy Hour" to cover the whole day! (altho I am a little late for happy hour too! )

Got up early this morning and headed to the other side of the lake to Excelsior where they were having their Art On The Lake art fair this weekend. Luckily, today was much cooler and dryer than yesterday which was 95* and horribly humid. Was windy today too but felt nice! First thing I did was take a ride on the Minihaha Streetcar boat. Back in the early 1900's there was an amusement park on a large Island on the lake and they made the streetcar boats to take people out and back. Years later they moved the amusement park to Excelsior and had no use for the boats so they sank them all near the Island. 30 years ago, a guy went diving for them and found most of them had pretty much disintigrated but there was one, the Minihaha, that was still in good condition. It was pulled up, restored and is now back on the lake for tours! Was a fun and interesting ride! I have been meaning to do that for years but never got around to it until now.

After that, I walked around the art fair and then walked downtown. It is a small lakeside town with lots of cute shops.

Had some big storms moving this way earlier but they have pretty much fizzled out now. Was hoping for some thunder and lightning at least, tho.

Been really down in the dumps this past week but am starting to feel somewhat better now. Gotta keep busy! I do feel better at work but the past few weeks there have been grueling with long hours and tons of haircuts! I noticed that I am scheduled tomorrow for another 9 1/2 hour day! My boss is on maternity leave so I texted her and asked to have my hours cut back to 8 or less per day. I just can't do more than that. I have Tuesday off, and then I work 9 days straight right up until the day I go on my camping trip. I hope I am not too exhausted to go! With all the emotional stress I have been dealing with, it isn't helping any to be working excessively too.

Speaking of stress...I noticed a charge on my dad's account for his phone bill for last month was for $450.00! I think it is because he has been calling Jamaica to talk to these scammers and doesn't realize he is being charged for those calls. I think I will have to call the phone company on Tuesday and get the long distance block put back on. His renter has a California area code on his cell phone and I have asked him to change it so I could put the block on and he and my dad can still call each other, but he refused to do that. So now once I get it blocked they won't be able to call each other but I really don't care anymore.

OK. Time for bed...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
