Sunday, Memorial Wkend

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Sunday of May

Postby Colliemom » Sun May 29, 2016 5:31 am

Good Morning,

End of May already! Gee, the summer will be over before I get started enjoying it. Naw, spent yesterday down at Camping World, browsing through RV's just for fun and no, I didn't leave any green behind either. Don't need anything. Didn't see anything I liked either. But I'm not looking for anything either. The stopped to visit with friends on way home, so was good day. Nice not to have to worry about home showings, keepng the place in show mode, packing boxes, etc. etc.

Was laughing though at at the turn of events between my neighbors and myself have turned out. I put my home on market, got an offer first day, contingent on them selling their house. Then neighbor next door on one side put her house on market as she is leaving the state. Meantime I got another offer and accepted it, the people with the contingency couldn't do anything as their house deal fell through. So I then had the inspection done on the lake house which revealed all the things that were wrong and what needed to be taken care of etc. I backed away, much more than I wanted to deal with or my budget could afford. So left me in a lurch. Decided to go for neighbors house, which I was successful at. Meantime, the people who originally had the contingency on my house have now sold their house and they are buying the neighbors house on the other side of me. She is pushing 90 and doesn't need that big house anymore. So my buyers and my potential buyers are going to be neighbors now

Heading off for church this morning and the probably some grass mowing later. Am going to do the neighbors across the road as their grass is getting up there and it will be another three weeks before they get here for the summer. Unless mom nature changes my plans. If so, will take down remaining pictures and touch up the nail holes etc. bring up whats left in basement and finish it off down there. Only have bathroom and kitchen stuff left to pack up a bit. Might go see some old neighbors who bought our lake house as they re up for the holiday weekend. Need to eventually get out and get my trailer ready for summer too. Needs a spring cleaning, the bed made up and stuff put back where it belongs. First trip is planned for July 11-13th. Then will be home for couple of weeks before heading to U.P. on the 31st.

Weather still warm, but the mosquito's must have decided it's too hot for them as they have pretty much disappeared during the day now and only out in evening. Dogs and I actually took a walk yesterday for the first time in about a week as we had a nice breeze blowing. Been taking a short one here and there, but this was back on our regular r2 and a half mile route.

Okay, enough jabbering here. Want to wash hair etc. Have a blessed Sunday everyone.

Gmorning all :)

Yikes, like Sue asked "where did the month go?" Great news on the house situation Sue! Beth, how wonderful to have Linda there, someone you know & can rely on. Lyn, I saw the news about the protesters, & you live right in the middle of downtown SD! I'm so excited for you to be doing so well with your TT--can't wait to see you on the road again.

Alice, hope you're off to a great start of your summer with Honey Bear:) I haven't heard anything about the "cartel" wars--drug runners running amok?

I've been working like a mad dog in my yard. I've put in a lot of flower seeds, so will have to enjoy neighbors already-flowering plants while waiting for mine to grow. But I'm pleased with what I've done.

Some of my Trek-mates are thinking of a gtg, I think in June. I've been off the road for four weeks now & feel like I could use a few days back ON the road!

Y'all have a great day, be safe always, enjoy the holiday 8-)

Good morning Carolb and everyone... glad everything's working out for everybody and getting on the road is a good idea for us all... speaking of that I just got back yesterday from an adventure with Margie and her pup Annie... we went to Sebastian Inlet State Park here in Florida for a couple of nights then we spent one night at Wickham Park because we weren't ready for the adventure to end we went to a couple of museums went out for lunch nosed around on some beach things scene where they found some pirate treasure... I just lounged around and did the RV life... I think the highlight of our adventure for Margie was when Pheebe walked over to her and put her paws on her leg and wanted in her lap she was thrilled as was I she is making so much progress I'm so proud of her.... but believe me she still has her moments many moments... I really hope to get caught up on a Blog so everybody can see pictures sometimes I don't know if I'm lazy or too tired..lol.. glad to see the Hillsborough get together next winter is getting a good crowd signed up.... what all for now have a good one everybody...donna

Good morning to all. Liz took a photo yesterday of the sun rise from Valley of Fire, not too far from where we live so I was inspired to get up to watch the sun rise this morning. But I think I kept my head under the pillow too long. By the time I got outside 5:30 the sun was almost up. Still pretty though and there were three bunnies in the yard eating some lettuce we put out last night. So we just watched each other for a while.
So glad the ordeal with the houses is over for you. Strange how things work out sometimes.
We have finally got rid of the Alfa, now working on the house in Indiana. Will be glad when things are all settled. Planning on taking the new Rv on another short trip - to the Mexican border to get the 10 year permit on it. There is some talk about the Mexican government changing their rules for 10 year permits. Probably jut "rumors" but we want to take another short trip anyway. Still waiting for our driver's licenses which were lost in the mail. Re applied for replacements last week. I also have two more doctor appointments - then off we'll go.
Any one traveling please keep watch on the weather. Here in Vegas we are two days away from our 100+ weather. Late in coming this year - thank heavens.

Good morning from Valley of Fire. This is today's sunrise, Carol, taken about 5:30. Not as pretty as the one the other day...fewer clouds for the light to bounce off. That one was taken about 5:15 before the sun rose. I have to get up and out early in order to hike. Once the sun is up it's been getting hot fast. Supposed to be high 90s today I think. After the weekend I'll be moving north to some higher elevations. Most of my day will be spent inside in the AC. It's giving me a chance to catch up on blog posts though.

Have a good day. Do something fun.

A quick Good Morning before I get on the road - again. However, today will be short and a treat at the end - I'll be in CArol's yard in N.C.! Tomorrow I move to Maggie Valley for a week and the SS Rally. Traveled US 64 across Southern Tennessee - wonderful road and not a lot of traffic.

Make it a great day!

Oh, Liz, that photo is wonderful!

It's a bit cooler today, and the sun is shining -- and Meijers had a sale on mulch! I know what I'll be doing . . . spreading mulch in the shady spot where my hammock is going to go! Gotta have a shady spot to lay around in.

G called yesterday to tell me she made the garage sale "find" of the summer -- a Husquevara sewing/embroidery machine for $50! She's really excited. I'm going to have fun learning how to use such a complicated machine.

Sue, I'm so glad the dust has settled on the houses -- but I have to say, you've had enormous entertainment value this spring, both here and in your neighborhood. Thanks for keeping us all fascinated!

Good morning!
Sue, looks like the house switching is nearly over. It sure has kept us in suspense. :) Looking forward to hearing more about your new place.
Anita, you sure are on the move... Enjoy the rally.
Great photo, Liz - thanks!

So much rain in places that don't need more - and the summer heat is starting. Hope everyone stays safe.

I must brag about Sadie! I defintiely have the best dog ever!!!! My goal is to totally clean the apartment over this 3-day holiday - including clear out the fridge. Got that done, no really bad stuff, but I did dump some things into the trash. Later I pulled the bag out of the trashcan, put a twisty tie on it & meant to take it out on my way to church. Well..... as soon as I settled in at church, I realized that I hadn't taken the trash out - the plastic bag was sitting on the kitchen floor. Do I leave & get it out of there before it is spread all over the apartment - or - let it be & clean it up when I get home??? I said a little prayer & decided to stay put.
When I got home - there was no mess, the bag was still sitting there untouched! :o :o :o Best dog ever!!!! Actually I've always suspected that she doesn't have a strong sense of smell & since the trash didn't have anything really smelly in it, I guess I lucked out.

Not much else to report here - hopefully I'll get the rest of the place cleaned today & be able to really take tomorrow off. :)
Enjoy the day!

Sue, I agree on the entertainment value of your house sale. I don't think I could tell the complicated story from beginning to end.

Just got back from visiting Taos Pueblo. I broke my vow to not spend any unnecessary money this past month. I bought a ceramic quail from a lady who had made and hand-painted it. That lady was 69 and had an amazingly steady hand! Also bought a carved stone buffalo. At least I am buying very small things that will not take much room to store.

Met a lady from Detroit at the pueblo today and we talked about missing the wonderful ethnic food available in Detroit--Middle Eastern, Italian, Polish, and a bunch other. I really miss the middle eastern shish kabob, salads, and baklava in 10 varieties, plus the really garlicky fresh kielbasa!

Am way behind on work, so got to get back to it. Making chicken and rice for dinner if anyone wants to stop by!
