Thursday Pre-Memorial Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday Pre-Memorial Day

Postby IrishIroamed » Thu May 26, 2016 6:50 am

Mornin ladies

Well weekenders are starting to arrive for the holiday here at Giant City SP in southern Il. Three pulled in yesterday right by me and not friendly people. The one behind me is a really loud talker/screamer too. Got to the point at 11pm, I opened my window and yelled SHUT UP!!!

Eileen left yesterday and Roberta is pulling out today so I'll be all by self, well except for the weekenders. Probably cutting it one day short. Plan on doing some housekeeping chores but keeping an eye on the weather.

Of forgot---Roberta & I did chair yoga with BJ yesterday. It was goood but everytime we did something different I had a lot of creaking and crackin :o as Gram used to say it's hellto get old

Have a good day & holiday weekend. Stay safe on the roads.

PS Carol we didnt need bail money since Mitch left early, so I'll just add to the pot and pass it on.

Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu May 26, 2016 6:57 am

Morning all,

Sun is up and blue skies moving in, after last nights rain. Supposed to have more later. Just brings the mosquitos out more. Brought my trailer home yesterday and about got carried off while I hitching it. No wind and humid made them really pesky. Fortunately last night a big storm passed south of here and really brought some refreshing air in. The dogs and I actually enjoyed some ball playing time in the yard.

Nothing much on agenda today. Need to do some veggie and fruit shopping this morning. Then will box up some more stuff. Probably touch up the nail holes too. Garage sale next door and have a few things to take over.

So that's all for today. Hope you enjoy your day. Don't know what everybody's doing for holiday weekend. Anybody off with their rigs, tents or whatever?

Morning Sue,

Your mosquitos have made their way south and are beginning to buzz around here. Hot, humid and stormy weather for the rest of the holiday weekend. I'm trying to figure out how to be in 3 places at one time; have two pet sits and they aren't even close together. Plus we are having 50 or so people for a cookout on Sunday. Time to get organized and get things ready.

Last day today for my greyhound client, her Mom is off for the summer so I won't see her again til school starts in fall.

Day didn't start at all well, current pet sit client's son is at home and he locked one of the dogs in the bedroom with him. Tried knocking and no luck. Dog was whining and even barked a little, still no good. Had to text his Mom to get her to text him to let the poor pup out. This is exactly why I seldom do sits when a family member is home. It has always created a problem.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Good morning, ladies. Finishing up yesterday's discussion of no-rinse soap: I have some NoRinse with the purple label, so I opened it up and took a big whiff. There's a very slight scent, no more than any soap I've ever found. Just smells like mild soap. Maybe the green label concentrate is stronger. I'm sensitive to scent and all I can say is I had no reaction at all

Sue, I hate mosquitoes. They love me. I had the water feature taken out of my backyard because the water was mosquito bait and I was their free lunch.

Not much to say this morning. Still tired.

Big hugs and fresh bread,

Morning all.

Still working on finding a fix to stay here in Florida. Seeing an allergist next week, if they can get me out of the chronic crisis mode I may submit to allergy testing and shots again just so we don't have to bail on our new life.

Sue - following your saga closely, it's fascinating from afar, although I imagine frustrating in actuality.

Wow, Mickie, good luck!! You are really determined!

Slow day here today, as I irritated my weak shoulder dragging stuff around yesterday. Very annoying. Tomorrow will be good, though! Going up to Dow Gardens with friends, to see the rhododendrons. They're in full bloom right about now. :D

Morning All,

We decided to take the motorhome out for a shakedown trip to see that everything was going to work, luckily it did. We had to change the settings on the Winegard antenna on roof from Dish Network to Directv as previous owners had Dish. Called Winegard and there technician walked us through the setup which was a big help, after several attempts to do it ourselves. Sanitized and flushed the tanks. Made it through the first black tank dump :). Washed and dried a few things in the washer and dryer for a test load. Read the manuals. Programmed and installed the Tire Pressure Monitor System. The tow vehicle towed great. We just need to make a checklist for all the procedures to setup and take down. Whew....We will be ready to go as soon as the house sells. Realtor has set up an open house and a Realtor's walk thru after Memorial Day, so that should bring more buyers to the area where we are located. Going to attend my nephew's high school graduation tomorrow in Phoenix. Hope you all have a safe Memorial Day and weekend.

Good morning! Sunny, warm and breezy today. Humidity is gone too. Very nice out! Too bad I have to head off to work soon.
It has been so crazy busy at work the past week! Yesterday I stayed late to help out since it was so busy. Worked 9 hours straight but got good tips. Very exhausted by the time I got home tho! Another couple busy days coming up and then it should slow down some. Between the holiday weekend, graduation, weddings and the heat, everyone wants a haircut!

Nothing else new here. Nothing much planned for the weekend. Get my tent waterproofed and take the kayak for a ride. Do some cleaning, etc. Will get my new cot and foam mattress tomorrow. I ordered a 1" thick memory foam pad in a full size. Will cut it in half and double it up so it will fit the cot perfectly. Then will sew a cover for it. Much cheaper than buying a twin 2" thick memory foam pad! May just do some other sewing projects this weekend once I get the sewing machine set up and warmed up!

Sue, any news yet on the house situation? I think you are supposed to hear something today on them and make your decision. Let us know! I am pulling for the lake house! (I am partial to lakeshore property! :D ).

Looks like I need to start planning a trip to the Black Hills later this summer to visit Linda and Beth out there. Probably late July before biker week starts.

Love my Chromebook so far except that when on Facebook, I can't get any videos to play. Not sure why. Anyone know?

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Here is my solution for mosquitos: http://www.amazon.com/Camouflage-Mosqui ... B00V9T1ZKA

I had bought three of these way back about three years ago when I was in Florida and could not attend ranger talks in the evening because of the little buzzing critters. Then, last June when my California grandkids were visiting, I remembered I had them. The poor kids who had hardly ever seen a mosquito loved them and even wore them inside! I had two camouflage ones and one orange one and the darker color was much easier to see out of. Here is how kids bundled up against bugs:

Glad to hear from you, Betty, and glad you are learning about your RV so things are ready to go!

Just finished one group of students online for presentations and have another group this evening and tomorrow. Always stressful for me because I have to watch presentations, time speakers, take notes, manage the software, and try to sound organized. This is starting very busy few weeks of end of semester with lots to grade at once.

I got back from my trip to the lake about 8:00. Just barely made it home before dark. I think we had gail force winds most of the time we were there. I couldn't believe the fish were bitting with all the rough water. It was mostly the bait thieves but my sister caught a couple of cat fish and some perch. I caught a catfish that was about 2 feet long. That was the biggest fish I have ever caught. The only way I landed it was because I was near the boat launch and I was able to drag it up the launch. The junk we fish with would never have landed it. We didn't have to worry about mosquitos, they couldn't fly in that wind. We were laughing at the birds that were trying to fly into the wind. They would have made more progress if they had landed and walked. Looks like we left just in time. There is rain moving into the area. Doesn't look like it's going to be a good weekend for the holiday campers. It was so peaceful up there because there were very few campers there.
