As you regular readers remember, I ordered a laptop from Dell 11 days ago. They promised me overnight delivery to Page, AZ, Wahweap Campground on Monday or Tuesday, May 9 or 10th. I spent 20 minutes on the phone spelling out the address and even talking to a "supervisor" because the original guy could not understand me. (You can no longer speak to anyone in the US at Dell. They all are in India.) I was assured they had the address of the campground in Page right and repeated it to me. The address also appeared on the invoice they sent me via email.
However, instead, they shipped it to my billing address in Ohio by ground. I discovered this when it did not arrive in Page. I was planning on being in Grand Canyon from Wednesday through this coming Wednesday, so I gave them the new address, which they promised to correct with Fed-Ex. New delivery date was Friday and then today, because of course they shipped it by ground. (I will spare you the multiple phone calls and yelling and spelling to people who were reading from scrips and did not speak fluent English I had to do to achieve this.) They assured me they had corrected the address with Fed-Ex and it was on its way to me in Grand Canyon, so I have been checking all day with the campground booth about my package.
Then, just now I got a phone call from, guess where--the hotel in Wahweap in Page, AZ, about a package they had just received for me. They are holding it for me. It is expected to rain tomorrow and I have done most of my sightseeing, so I am going to leave here a day early and drive to Page to pick it up. No way am I going to let Dell ship it again to who knows where!!!
When I actually get this laptop, I am going to write a letter to Dell's president. I teach business writing so I can write a very polite but nasty letter when I want to!!
