Shake down trip in new Jayco

I think I posted that we've gotten rid of our 40' diesel pusher and now have a 29' class c Jayco. It is going to take some getting used to. We are traveling short distances from Vegas, to Williams, AZ then to Monument Valley and today heading towards Moab, Utah. We love this area - but boy has it got EXPENSIVE! From Moab we'll head back towards home.
We've already discovered things we forgot to bring. Things we shouldn't have done and things we need to do.
Before we both had recliners and the dinette - now we've got a couch and the dinette. The Driver gets the couch, so I sit at the dinette. Good for typing but not so comfortable for reading. Of course the driver and passenger chairs don't turn so any company sits at dinette or on couch. The stove/oven and microwave and part of the counter are on one of the slides so they are just a little high for shorty me. The bed slides out to the back so there are steps up to it. And it is a bugger to make. I'm not really complaining - just mentioning things I didn't think of when we bought it. Been traveling in the big one too long - got used to having more comforts.
This is sure beautiful country here in Utah. I've posted lots of pictures on my blog. http://travelinginrvandlivinginlasvegas.blogspot.com/

Carol - It is quite an adjustment as I can attest to! When my DH died and I went from large A with 3 slides to a smaller C with 1 slide I had to adapt to not packing in long-term mode. Then last summer I went down again to a B and I'm still trying to figure out how to bring along enough for a few days. Long term is probably out of the question. Sure is different from the days when I used the rig as a second pantry/storage area that was convenient when I ran out of oregano or something in the house.

I think down the road you might want to consider replacing the sofa with two comfy chairs or recliners. The rest you may be able to learn to live with, but being uncomfortable most of the time will wear you down. Loved your pics.

That's one thing I wish I had in my Class C....comfortable seating! The U-shaped dinette is all I have, and even though I had new cushions made, it still is not very comfortable for relaxing. Enjoy your travels, it's still hot in Vegas! I'll be there Mon.-Tues.

That is one thing i know to look for in a rig someday. I would rather have a couch than a dinette if i cant have both. I need a comfy place to read and nap!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Beautiful pictures Carol. Know what you are experiencing adjusting to your new smaller MH. I just went from a 35' Class (DP) to a 25.5' Class C Navion - 2 slides one out the back (which is the bed) and one out the side where the sofa is. The bed is still a mystery on how to keep it looking nice while traveling (not). I do not have a dinette so the seating consists of the small sofa (that also makes into a bed) and the driver and passenger seats do turn to face the galley. Big adjustment. Hope you are enjoying your new Class C.

Thanks for sharing all your gorgeous pictures of Momument Valley. Bet Willie needed a good bath after touring that area??
