I mentioned before that Beth and I were two opinionated women traveling together. The reason it works is that 9 times out of ten we are of the same opinion! We went on the self guided Nature Walk and it was very interesting. We drove through the Park, looked at each other and said, let's get out of here. Frankly, you've seen one Dune you've seen them all!The sky was very stormy with storm cells all over.

Good photos even if you were not overly impressed with the dunes. Think there's almost 300 sq miles of the dunes area; that could have been a hefty hike.
I was at the missile range there a couple of times but missed going to the National Monument area. My guess is that it all looks pretty much the same for many, many miles.

OK, nope, it wasn't one of our favorite places. BUT - as a kid I would have LOVED it. Wow - sledding without snow? Yep, that would have been my kind of place. The dunes I went to as a kid, couldn't do that. And the first hike we took was interesting - including this tree:

Look how little of that cottonwood is showing. As long as a little bit shows above the sand, it will survive. Who'd have thunk it?

Here's some of the kids:

And because the day required jackets - it really does make you think they're on snow.

Peaches loved being on sand again. It was obvious how much she misses the beach.

Makes me think of the white sand of Dauphin Island in Alabama. But I would agree with you,... after a while it would all look alike. Interesting that the sand has shifted to cover the whole tree trunk and just leave the top out!

There's a military campground near here at the Range....small, but since we lived in the area for so many years...."Been there, done that..." Agree....they all look the same after a few minutes.... Great photos, though, girls.... ;)

We were there 2 years ago and enjoyed sliding down the dunes. It's an interesting ecosystem with lots of white rats that were hard to see. Enjoying the pics. carold
